India as a former colony of britain have always had interest in football. You will be surprised that they are some clubs in india that are over 100 years old.

China like other asian countries have been crazy over football especially premiership over the last couple of decades. At least I know china had a top female national team in the nineties

Indians are cricket lovers though recently things are changing.

I have met thousands of them in a gathering and when it is time for sports, they normal choose basketball over football.




India is predominantly a country fascinated towards Cricket. Football has never received the importance it should have.

Until the Ambani Family came up with the idea of ISL. A footballing league for India with veteran foreign players flying over to play with the budding Indian talents also at display.

It was in 2013 that India has it's first season of ISL which was won by Atletico De Kolkata. That was the beginning of a new era for Indian football.

Comparing the standards of European football to that of ISL is unwise. But the level of Football has started improving and is growing by leaps and bounds over the past years.

Even this transfer market dull because many players are carefully of missing the WC

Alex Iwobi will be fined by Arsenal after partying until the early hours of Saturday morning ahead of Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest, boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The 21-year-old forward was filmed dancing in central London at 2.37am on Saturday in a video uploaded to Snapchat, according to The Sun.

He then played 90 minutes at the City Ground as the holders crashed out, going down 4-2 to Championship side Forest.

Wenger said: "That is true. He will be fined. It is impossible to go out 48 hours before a game. It is unacceptable."

Iwobi was reported to have attended a party that included people smoking cannabis and inhaling laughing gas.

But Wenger said his player was not involved in either taking drugs or drinking alcohol.

"First of all we have to be cautious with everything that is coming out," Wenger said.

"When you read what is reported it is like he has taken drugs. He was not involved in that at all.

"He has been out at a birthday party and how long he has stayed? That is important. After, I will decide what happens.

"Did he do drugs or alcohol? Not at all. If your neighbour takes drugs, what can you do? You are responsible for your own behaviour, not the behaviour of your neighbour."

Wenger admitted Iwobi's performance against Forest may have been affected.

"Who knows that?" Wenger said. "You know that sometimes you want to prepare 100 per cent but it is not always a guarantee you will be at your best.

"But that is what is requested from a top-level professional."

I don't buy this idea of excusing players fof not performing in their clubs just because "they play well for the super eagles" ( very debatable). This notion is too short sighted for my liking, it will ultimately bread mediocrity and downward career progression.

Iwobi is very irresponsible and you can see that in his behavior...snap chat 100 times a day while Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling are posting breathtaking performances week in week out. Not only fine but he needs to be demoted to U23 for the next 6 months. He has embarrassed his father who has so much faith in him. I hate in-disciplined young people.

I beg to differ.. Kelechi had a brilliant second half against Argentina, he looked full of confidence after the goal. Apart for the Algerian games, Kelechi's record for Nigeria speaks for itself.

Iwobi seems to have come into his own for Nigeria. He has a few bad games at the beginning of the qualifiers but was really good in the last few games.
