@LagosismyHome and others

pls I applied to Bowie State University, proposed resumption date is 25th January, and up till now, I haven't heard or received any info about my i-20 for months now.
Although an inside guy a week ago saw my name on the admission list.

wat do I do?
lol an inside guy grin I hope it's not your uncle oh else you might be doomed ....
He saw your name on admission list and you resume 25th and them never send you acceptance letter ( lol here is not naija oh that your friend will go and check admission list for you ) what if that inside man actually saw your name and deleted it grin
Personaly I don't recommend schools that don't respond soon enough though most time it's the staff's not the school and sometimes they can be out office and sometimes a simple call can fix everything
Also it sounds like you only applied to one school prolly because inside man said he will work the admission for you

Lagosismyhome, Twoods, and everyone . my cousin wants to do her masters in the US. there is an error in her WAEC cert. Her DOB is 22nd July 1992. but it shows 22nd June 1992 in her WAEC cert. she is trying to apply for international passport. which DOB should she put that will not affect her during visa interview. thanks

I told you to call any number you can get hold of even if it's the dean of grad school. They will transfer you to the right person or take up the case. Mind you it's just 9:06 ET, the first time zone in U.S, probably you call them back around noon.

Hello everyone, pls I need advice my school sent me an email which goes thus "pls provide us with a copy of your original high school transcript we have received the evaluated one"(The evaluated copy was sent to them by wes) pls I need advice on how to send it to the school, why I need advice is because Waec office sent the result the last time to wes which then sent the evaluated copy to the School, I don't know if it is still duty of Waec to send the result directly to the school, or whether it is the duty of my high school.I will appreciate your advice, pls those who have experienced such should also air their opinions

I do not have an idea but will you let us know the name of your school so we won't apply to it as I know most schools don't ask for high school transcript or are you going for undergraduate degree?

The process is step by step!
First, decide your prefered states in the US, where you would like to study.
Decide which program you would like to do
Then begin looking for schools within that state and study the program requirement thoroughly
If anĂ½ test is required, prepare to write it and do so excellently well if your aptitude can carry it
Then apply for the term you prefer ( I am guessing fall 2018)
Send in required documents,
Get your I-20 and pay sevis fee,
pay visa fee and fill DS 160
Schedule appointment
prepare for interview,
and get the visa
FLY!
There are expert on this process, or people who might help on this forum, contact them when you are ready. Or if you like, PM me. I will guide you!

Wawu! Thanks a bunch bro, I'll PM you.

When you know its a mistake, why don't you try going to correct the problem in WAEC. Even in Nigeria, it will be seen as forgery of age when employers ask you to bring credentials.

lol I know it sounds like I'm attacking him but that's not my intention I'm basically stating facts based on realistic information. People have stated how they've been exploited because someone has offered to help with the admission because they are staffs in the instituition
it's not like all I stated can't happen but other people can read the information and take caution when they start noticing similar things

A friend of mine had this problem in the past but not related to visa application n all that.He wanted to apply for a job in a bank.In summary ur friend should visit waec office, they will tell her steps to take in correcting the error a fee of about 10k is paid. The correction usually takes a while to process let's say 6 to 12 months,if she needs it urgently waec can easily give her a written note with letter headed tittle of waec which she can attach to her result when ever she wants to present it. Your response is not helpful. Keep off for what reason? US schools are not Nigerian schools, they have specific reasons for taking specific actions and they make sure that this is communicated to you in a timely manner. My guess is that you dropped the ball somewhere. Did you obtain any written communication indicating you were offered admission? No one just reads names off a list as proof of admission.

She will have to go to waec result and certificate section to submit the old certificate for correction and you will aslo be asked to bring a letter signed by the principal of the school she did the exam claiming there is an error on it, but if its GCE just go to that section for correction mind you its 10k for correction and another 10k to collect when done and it usually take 6 month to a year before its ready.peace

Same experience here. I have 4 people that applied to Bowie State University for Spring 2018 also and up till now they have not heard from them yet. The school is really messed up. The man in charge of international admissions, Mr Samuel Yego, is the main culprit here. I don't mean to be mean but the man is very incompetent, rude, lies, never replies emails nor calls etc. and I wonder why he is still in charge of admissions. I have met him on a few occasions and he always claims busy and being in the office till 8pm everyday yet nothing ever gets done. He has lied to me on several occasions that a few of the 4 people have been processed and sent for i20 production only to get to the i20 office and Mr. Yego did not send the admission file to begin with.

Another question is if he has sent your file to the department for review to begin with? This is because he emailed the 4 students on November 14 2017 that he had sent their files for departmental review and after over a month of waiting and no reply they all called their department (MIS department) on December 16 and they were told that Mr Yego had not sent their files to review for admission to begin with. Don't be surprised if he hasn't forwarded your file to the department for review to begin with. The admission list you talked about may just be the list of all those who applied to the university. When I discovered the gross incompetency and lack of awareness about time factor I was very disappointed to say the least, coming from an institution that is supposed to be in the United States. This Yego of a person is Kenyan by the way (bringing in his typical lousy African work ethic to the US).

Another thing I noticed is that they seem to be doing 'IM' in that school. They process admissions faster for those who have someone working in the school or living in Maryland.

Try calling the Provost. That seems to be the only person he answers to in the university.

Exactly what I told him but seems he's not interested in my suggestion. Anyone can call the dean directly when you feel the person in charge isn't doing his job. I once did that to my former IA and told her she's an incompetent. Hot emails exchange ensued and at the end, the dean of grad school personally used her money to mail my I 20 with UPS. When I finally resumed and met her one on one, she apologized. By the next semester, she had been kicked because of many similar complains. There was another time my grad coordinator didn't want me to pick the elective courses that are relevant to my life, I went straight to the dean and the issue was solved. I was exempted from garbage electives and I created my own plan.

I reached out to the dean of the graduate school as well and he could not do much, other than email Mr Yego to expedite the admission process which he still has not up till now.

Most people would probably apply to multiple universities anyways..in which case this would just be a minus one. I had a similar issue with a school I once applied to as well. Good thing was I had backups.

Something must be wrong with the school admin then if you can't get through to the dean.

The downside of applying to majority black institutions where entry requirements are lax. You get what you pay for.
