“This is football. This is life," Conte said in response to missing out on Van Dijk. "For sure he was our target but as you know this is football. We can have a lot of targets but you must be able to reach those targets. I remember telling lordfalcao before the season started that 60m on van dijk wasn't bad, instead of paying 30m+ on a rudiger who wouldn't be an instant cahill's upgrade. Here we are now, he joined Liverpool at 75m. Why won't the likes of courtois and hazard, refuse to pen a new deal? Conte has every reason to be unhappy with those recommending and approving craps for Chelsea, as upgrades. |

airmark:To be truthful I'm tired of this Hazard and courtois contract Saga... Chelsea should just sell them off.. Courtois isn't the best goalkeeper around he is just lucky to have a good defense in front of him and Hazard wouldn't get better than he currently is... Sell Hazard and courtois buy mahrez / Lemar and zaha /leon Bailey... Chelsea can easily replace courtois with butland or Leno I rate those two above courtois 3 Likes |

Greatihex: Lmao....this one made me laugh so hard. Arguing with Dayo about Hazard is a big waste of time, it could be likened to you fetching water inside a basket. A right thinking person would agree he said these things about these other players but this one would rather die than agree. #quitarguingwithhim 1 Like |

Jose Mourinho has a chip on his shoulder due to the lack of acknowledgement his managerial achievements has received from his peers, Andy Dunn told the Sunday Supplement. The Manchester United manager is embroiled in a heated war of words with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, the latest in a long line of spats with those in the opposing dug-out. Dunn believes Mourinho's readiness to pick fights with his counterparts stems from a combination of feeling undervalued and having never played the game to the heights his rivals. "The reason why Mourinho cannot let anything lie is that, even with his incredible record - 25 trophies - he thinks he's underappreciated, undervalued and people do not acknowledge how great a manager he's been," the Chief Sports Writer at the Daily Mirror said. "That doesn't only apply to his the media but also to his peers, that's reflected by the way he has a go at them - Conte's comments about him are incredibly disparaging. "Some of it may come down to the fact he wasn't a player, that will always be a little chip on his shoulder. "How many times has he said he's not bothered that he's only won three Manager of the Month awards? Of course he's bothered. "Has he ever been LMA Manager of the Year? No, he hasn't. David Moyes has three times - that's nothing against David Moyes, respect to him, but I think Mourinho feels he has never been properly acknowledged by his peers for what he's done in management. Here's a look at how the ward of words has escalated between Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. "That's reflected by the way he's all too ready to aim barbs at other managers. Conte is not the first and he won't be the last; Pep Guardiola, Rafa Benitez, Manuel Pellegrini, Arsene Wenger, Claudio Ranieri and a couple of managers in Portugal in his early days have been in his crosshairs. "That's all about a character that thinks he is the 'Special One' but has never got the credit he deserves for what he has done, and we have seen that from the moment he came to England." Guys, what do you think? |

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has opened up about his two-year struggle to keep Romelu Lukaku at Goodison Park. Lukaku, who moved to Manchester United last summer in a deal worth up to £90m, became Everton's record signing when he joined the club on a five-year deal from Chelsea in 2014. Speaking at Everton's AGM on Tuesday night, Moshiri revealed Lukaku was keen on returning to Stamford Bridge before the Belgian plumped for a move to Old Trafford. "With Romelu I wasted two summers trying to keep him," Moshiri said. Lukaku scored 87 goals in 166 appearances for Everton "I spoke to him, his agent, his mother. We tried to offer him a better offer than Chelsea. He wanted to play for Chelsea though - at that time. "Bill Kenwright [Everton's chairman] has been like a father to many players, but ultimately it's the agents they rely on. If I tell you what we offered him, you won't believe it, and we offered him an even better deal than Chelsea, whatever they offered we matched but he just didn't want to stay." A year ago, Lukaku's agent Mino Raiola claimed a deal to keep Lukaku at Everton was 99.9 per cent done. During the AGM, Everton CEO Robert Elstone gave an update on Everton's proposed new stadium at Bramley Moore dock. But Moshiri said he knew he faced a losing battle to hang on to him after the Belgium international holidayed in California with close friend and fellow Raiola client Paul Pogba at the end of last season. "I got close to Rom, I like the boy, he's a good boy, and I used all my charm to keep him and I flatly failed," Moshiri added. "Ultimately we lost money. To buy Rom now would be £120m. The issue was his brain had gone. He was in LA [with Pogba] and he wouldn't come back. "It happens. Alex Ferguson got another year out of [Cristiano] Ronaldo but then he was off. [Luis] Suarez had to bite a few players to get off." Moshiri revealed he tried harder to keep Lukaku than Ross Barkley Moshiri was similarly unsuccessful in trying to keep boyhood blue Ross Barkley , who moved to Chelsea at the start of January after backing out of a £35m deal on deadline day in August. "I didn't spend as much time to keep Ross as I did Rom," added Moshiri. "When it got to the two years I met his agent and said 'We need to extend the contract'. He said 'You need to get Ronald Koeman' and we got Koeman. "He then said (John) Stones was his friend and he should be allowed to leave and he left. We got into the last year (of his contract) and again we didn't want him to go. "Bill miraculously got an offer for £35m for a player who was injured and then he changed his mind. Sam (Allardyce) spoke to him and he didn't want to stay." |

eph12:Haha let's wait for a Madrid bid this summer... Anything above 100m pounds Hazard should be sold and courtois should be sold for anything above 45m... Hazard and courtois aren't as good as we think... Hazard is talented but he wouldn't get better due to him been indecisive... |

*NS1*: *Ross Barkley transfer referred to police by Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson* The mayor of Liverpool has asked police to investigate whether any "fraud" has taken place surrounding Ross Barkley's transfer from Everton to Chelsea. Joe Anderson has written to the heads of the Football Association (FA) and Premier League following the 24-year-old England midfielder's £15m move. The "circumstance" of the deal "warrants serious investigation", said lifelong Everton fan Mr Anderson. Merseyside Police said Mr Anderson's letter "is currently being considered". In the letter, on his official headed notepaper, Mr Anderson expressed concern about the size of the transfer fee paid by Chelsea for Barkley. The Premier League champions had reportedly agreed to pay £35m in the summer, only for Barkley to pull out of the move to Stamford Bridge at the last minute. He claimed: "At best, this represents a very poor deal for Everton Football Club. "At worst, it could be seen as a deliberate attempt to drive down a player's value in the transfer market so as to benefit the player, his agent and the buying club," Mr Anderson said. In the letter, Mr Anderson tells FA chairman Greg Clarke and Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore that he feels "it is right that the public receive an assurance on this matter".
