Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) has asked Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom to rise up to his responsibilities as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the state and defend the people of the state from the attacks of Fulani herdsmen.

He said as the chief security officer of the state, Ortom should be able to organise his people to confront the herdsmen like his counterpart, Ayo Fayose did in Ekiti.

He however said rather than act, Ortom usually breaks down in tears and keeps blaming the federal government whenever the people he swore to protect are attacked.

“The point I always make and I make it again is that the greatest failure and the person who should take all the blame for what is happening is the state governor, Samuel Ortom. Ortom is the chief security officer of Benue. Every time, the killings happen, he breaks down in tears and puts his hands on his head and keeps blaming the federal government”.

“Under criminal law, every Nigerian has a right of self-defence. There is no reason why Ortom shouldn’t have organised the people of Benue state into a state of collective self-defence in which he will totally arm them to face these murderers”.

He is the governor for God's sake, he is simply foolish of him abeg. Look at Lagos State governor, he deals with criminal critically. All states have challenges, but Lagos State as an example, always deal with criminals decisively. But this Ortom is useless, he needs to be voted out in the next election, he lacks power to govern, he always expect things to happen for him, while others are working to achieve, tell me 20 good things he has achieved. Useless Governor, if he wins in next election then Benue people are blind and useless as well, i'm sorry to say.

Sagay is just being half smart by wanting to shift the blame away from Buhari because everyone working with Buhari has seen that Fulani menace is really rubbishing Buhari's already distroyed image.

Isn't on this same Nairaland we read 2 days ago that soldiers arrested 9 vigilantes from Benue which Ortom instituted against anti open grazing.

In truth, Buhari has been supporting these Fulani herdsmen, all these people know, that's why people like Lai, Ogbeh, Femi and mostly people in APC rest are either battling to talk against the herdsmen or even openly defend them.

Fayose is successful may be because he's in opposition and will always not hesitate to attack and confront Buhari if any step is taken to either support the herdsmen or thwart any of his policies against open grazing.
Imagine military arresting anti open grazing vigilantes in Ekiti? Fayose would have rubbished and attacked Buhari in press and even fought to rescue those arrested vigilantes.

Due to his vociferous and fearless attitude in challenging the Fulani controlled Nigeria, other minorities began to muster the courage to challenge the status quo and demand for restructuring but the Fulani led FG became afraid and had to send the army to crush a peaceful agitation and ironically again, the rest of the equally suffering Nigerians cheered the army for their barbaric acts against IPOB!!

The great Gani once said that it is illegal to be lawful in a lawless society.


I have always maintained that instead of whining, Benue people should organize themselves against these grim reapers.

Arm yourselves and defend your people. Raise money and arm yourselves. It is more courageous to die fighting than to die kneeling down. The first law of nature is the law of self-preservation. Self defense is recognized by our laws.

Why should the young men be sleeping while these herdsmen from hell mow down innocent lives?

Option 1: The governor should buy guns and distribute to people in affected areas for self-defense.
