i agreed with you on nura mohammed, that small boy shall be sent to the eaglets

I actually disagree.
If he is that good he should remain where he is. It's like being in a class when you already know the material. There's no incentive to improve or 'grow' because you know you are not on the same level with your classmates and you will always outperform them.

If he can't cope it's a different issue- they can bring him one step down and then keep going from there. Some players develop early and some develop later. It's not a must for them to pass through every age grade level.

I feel like this is a mentality that is prevalent in our country in general not just in football. People should not be turned away because you feel they are too young to deliver.

On paper England are a far better side.

But I have said here before, one of the major strengths of our team is its unpredictability.

If the players can bring their "A" game we will beat England. The problem with most of our sides is we do not usually play to our full potentials.

A good number of our players have either played or are currently playing in England and we are going to see an Eagles team that will play as if they are at home.

You are right about our unpredictability. I think the best players are consistent and hence their teams are less unpredictable. I had a lively argument last weekend with someone in a pub, about the difference between Zaha and Hazard. My view was that Zaha is as good as HAzard on his day (when he brings his A-game). Having said that, while Hazard will bring his A-game 9 out of 10 games, Zaha will probably be unplayable in 4 games out of 10. In the other 6 games he will look like a school boy. I dont think there was a winner in that argument, beer soon took over. lol

The reason we are unpredictable is because most of our players are just like i described above. If England bring their A-game too, will we still win? I hope we do, my office rep and street cred relies on it. I am worried LOL

Of course not everyone would have mutual choice of the 23-man list. But 80 percent of the players undoubtedly deserve to make the list. And they surely will barring injuries. Except these players:

Kayode
Onyekuru
Omeruo
Nwakaeme
Agu
Echejile
Aina
Idowu
Etebo
And all the current goalkeepers except Ezenwa.

So 80% of our potential squad is pathetic? @safarigirl shey you see say no be my fault grin

Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders,

For the Unbelievers.....

Its been a while Super Eagles fans beat their chest confidently and make a boast of their team. Lately everyone seems to want to play safe so as not to set themselves up for disappointment. I can understand that. But frankly, its a new era and its time we all get on the success train with this current team.

In case we havent noticed, this team possesses something that other previous world cup teams that Nigeria paraded in the past never had. They are young, focussed and goal driven. They also arent an assemblage of super stars like before but they are a TEAM and are committed. Their love for the National team is practically unrivalled in all the teams I have seen Nigeria parade. I juat kinda wonder why we never see that this is a major ingredient that has been fueling their performance. No bad blood, no beefs, no cabal, no Mafia. Even the ones that didnt get to play are having a good time in camp. I dont know how they achieved that but long may this continue.

This current team, branded average were placed in a group of Death with 2 former african champions and the current african champs. Lemme reiterate that being an african champion no matter who the opposition is, is not a mean feat. It was not like they waited for everyone to play finish and then the winner met them in the finals, no sir! It was done through sweat and blood and loss of limbs . Having put this into perspective, these big 4 were put in the same group. I practically cried blue murder, conpiracy of the highest order. But here we are, these boys got the job done with a game to spare.

Yes, they dont have all the Neymars, Messis, Agueros, Griezmanns and the likes but they still standing. As little as a termite is, it possesses enough arsenal to remove the pants off a 10 ft giant anyday anytime. Invariably, its not by size. Juat because our players dont play in top leagues doesnt mean we are not good enough. Club football can never equate to national team soccer. And frankly this is how I prove it. Left to any sensible club coach, he wants to fortify his team with quality players, he has the backing of his club to go purchasing a player. Take for instance PSG went to buy Neymar at the ridiculous amount they spent to fortify their attack and they still went ahead to get Mbappe. If it were up to the coach, he will also get Ronaldo, Dyabala, Marcelo, Asensio, and the likes bust sadly, the reality is he cant do so. There are things that militate against that. He has to toe the line of certain rules. In other words he has to make use of whats on ground.

That said, the National team football doesnt have the luxury of choosing which player to buy from top teams. Keep in mind the peculiarity of Nigeria's situation that back to back Afcon misses havent helped us in our cause. It hasnt put any player o the map for all to see. We didnt have the opportunity to showcase what our chosen players can do for over 4years. Nigeria's soccer hit the rock bottom. An all time low since I knew us to be playing international football. Now we come out of the woods after getting a few things right from the basics and now it still feels like we are in dreamland

I am bold to say and yall can quote me anyday , anytime. NIGERIA is the only nation i the world that has raw talents that can be harnessed to build a team up to team K if we so desire. If you dont believe me, start scouting and you will see. If resources were not a problem and our scouting department is ready to do her job without nepostism or bias and will not give in to needless media hype of certain players ; if they ready to comb every nook and cranny of the country for talents, you will be shocked that we have many raw talents that need to be refined and polished. Story for another day....

My advice is let us not wait until the team now beats brazil before we start to believe in our team. It cant be worse than it has ever been. Reality is... it is what it is. This is the team we found and this is the team that did the job. Not some set of super stars that cant be corrected because they earn much more than a coach.

Believe and show some belief. Enough of teardowns of our players like they some piece of electronics.

Thank you all.

Ebuehi Demands Pay Rise To Extend ADO Den Haag Stay

Nigeria defender, Tyronne Ebuehi, is keen to extend his stay at Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag, but insists the club must show desire to keep him by offering him what he rightly deserves, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).
Ebuehi who has been capped twice by Nigeria is in the final six months of his contract at the club, and both parties are in talks over a new deal.
The right-back has also been linked with a move to English championship club Norwich City and Portuguese outfit Benfica.
”I do not think the offer I received is very great. I need the club to appreciate me more,” Ebuehi told Omroepwest.nl at the club’s training base in Belek
“I’m enjoying myself here and I do not want to leave. I still learn every day, am happy with the players and trainers and if I can sign here, I would really like to do that. But I am also just honest. I do not think the offer I received is very good.”
The 21-year-old also debunked speculations he has signed a pre-contract with Norwich City and that he attended the club’s Emirates FA Cup clash against Chelsea last Saturday.
“The most important thing now is the training camp. Of course I see messages on social media, so I cannot say that I do not care about it at all,” Ebuehi stated.
“I think some rumours are pretty funny. Maybe I signed the contract in my sleep.”
Ebuehi further stated that he was not motivated by money as he seek to sort out his future.
“I am not someone who now plays football for money. That is something that comes later. The most important thing for me is my development. I have to be better and I want to achieve the highest possible level,” he admitted.
“At the end of my career, I want to say that I have made the most of it, but as I said before, the rating can be better for someone who has played so many matches. ”

That English side disciplined? I watched that game ooo.. France and especially Ousmane Dembele tore them apart limb from limb. cheesy

The English back line will face fire and brimstones against our fast paced attack because they suffered same hellish experience against France with Mbappe and Dembele running rings around them.

England is good no doubt. Bright individual talents abound but I can boldly say this time that between the two sides, Nigeria has "The Team" wink

The French side outplayed them but the English were equally very threatening when they attack. The English had many positives from that match and I honestly did not expect them to put up such a fight and even shake up the star studded French team. The English team is not a walk over and I dare say they will shock a lot of people who has not given them a chance. We can beat them but we have to be in our best.

Will it be over for the Super Eagles should Mikel get injured?

Whenever we play without Mikel we either lose or draw.

I suggest we find a good back-up for Mikel.

Etebo has failed,Agu has failed. It's time to try Raheem lawal and Abdul Ajagun.I would have preferred Joel Obi but he is currently injured.

You can suggest other players who can play Mikel's role should he get injured in one of our pre-WC or WC matches.

Some teams might take us unawares by deliberately injuring Mikel knowing that we have no one as good as him on the bench. We should recall what happened to the team when Onazi got injured against France in 2014 WC.

when worst comes to worst,we can drift in iwobi, or better still, change tactics where instead of playing mikels holding AM, a SUPPRTING STRIKER kinda formation will be deployed where either of nacho, iwobi, or vic Moses gets to fit in.. (this is if when worst comes to worst)

but if a mikel kinda holding AM must be played, i will suggest a certain JOHN OGU to fill in the gaps and space cos he has similar kinda play like mikel...

It's important for a footballer of my age that I play. Of course, you never get that guarantee, but there is a good chance that ADO Den Haag does. If I embark on a new adventure, then that opportunity is a bit smaller, of course. I'm enjoying myself here and I do not want to leave. I'm saying that he should remain in the CHAN team rather than move to the U17 team if he is as good as they are reporting. In other words, no need to put him with the Eaglets if he is good enough for the Eagles.

He is already a member of the under 21 team. He did not say he preferred that to playing with Nigeria. He has not made a decision.

Of all the german players we are chasing, this kid has the biggest chance of playing with Germany. He needs time to make a decision, choose Nigeria now or wait for an eventual Germany call-up.

It is not an easy choice.

I don't think your suggestion will work, we need a good AM who like Mikel is a good ball holder and can create for the young forwards to score.

Ogu was present against Algeria, were we able to boss the mid-field with him?We only exposed our defence which in turn exposed Ezenwa.

A team which lacks a good AM will get their defence exposed, no matter how good the CM and DM may be.Keep in mind that the best way to defend has always been to attack.

Am not good with knowing the Nigerian players, but in our game against France, a certain Ramom Azeez came on for Onazi when he got the ankel knock. We lost the the game some minutes later and most Nigerian fans attributed the lose to onazi not being on the pitch but if the truth be told; Enyaema gifted France the win on that day and it had nothing much to do with Onazi's absence. Well, I loved the holding of the ball and the passes in center of the pitch when Ramon Azeez came in, but I don't know if his current form is good enough for SE.

John Ogu and Ramon Azeez will be a good add up to Mikel and Onazi in the center of the pitch. That's if Ramon's current form is good enough.

Uduokhai actual quotes

"I have not been to Nigeria often yet, but I talk a lot about it with my dad, and have kinship there. That's where my roots lie, it's important to me to stay on the wire. "The Nigerian federation has already pretended to Uduokhai, the player himself holds the decision open. "Of course, the German national team is the non plus ultra in world football, but also Nigeria is well staffed. Currently, I'm really open to both sides, "
