No one said it couldn't kill.
Even a deflected bullet would kill instantly if it hit an organ or an artery.
Take note I used most "likely" and "probably".
But at that speed. .with the bullet hitting "something " before hitting it's final target. .the force will reduce and as long as no vital organ is hit. .the person would have more chances of surviving than if it was a direct hit.
I have read a lot and watched many documentaries about people surviving gunshots to the head just because the bullet hit something before them. .so it isn't just a theory, it's a fact.
