Its trending on ptad official Facebook page now where some agrieved nitel pensioners are saying the ptad boss lied to them concerning the payment duration.about 5 different people testified that she said the payment will be effected 3days following verification during a meeting held in abuja last year and that was y PTAD was chosen over pencom.it was stated that both PTAD and PENCOM bosses were there present and tried to convince the pensioners on which to choose but nitel pensioners opted for PTAD cos pencom payment was installment.
I doubt if PTAD pays in bulk...

That's the problem we are facing today. How can you work for years without being paid what u laboured for. Now they want to give you peanut, your not even willing to put up a fight because you've waited years without nothing.Yes we have all suffered but how can we sell our right like Esau? Mark my word, for those who wish to settle for less may you find peace but we have not suffered for peanuts. They can go to hell with their peanuts the fight continues till we lose if that would be it.

What has dragged this country to its present state is because we have failed to face responsibility. We accept anything. We adapt to nonsense after a little torture. We forget long years of pains and vision at the scent of little appeasement. History is repeating itself again.
How long will we remain in this bondage? Our minds are tied up in terror. Many have died. Many have lost family members. Many have lost their body parts. Many have lost properties. All to this one course.
But to my greatest amazement, a little tip is taking people off balance. The unity is fading in bits. I tell you, your actions today will speak in times to come. Remember that what is happening to NITEL today is simply salient choices made by her leaders in time past.
Your children have gone through pains and many more. Remember your spouses. Will you just give up like this?
Slavery is not a matter of chains in the hands. It's a thing of the mind.
No one is ever great in this generation by being paid peanuts called salary or pension. It's another route to being enslaved. You don't want to go through this any longer.
It's true you think it will ease you for the moment. But is that all you see about life?
Great men we honor after their death aren't those who gave up. They are those who held on to the end.
Remember that a generation will read about your actions today many year after now. What will you inspire into them?
I'll advise you choose wisely. One day, you'll look back and either regret or rejoice at your choice.

I really see no need for all the subtle curses hidden in these vituperations. There are two options laid bare before everybody. It's a matter of choice what each goes for.
It is absurd to describe monthly pensions as peanuts. Pensions increase in line with upward review of minimum wage and pensions percentage and the terminal is decided by individual tenure in life.
For most people already above 60/65 years, pensions is the best option.

It may be said that lump payment is good but it carries a lot of risks.
The experience most people had after the first payoff was an eye-opener. Many of the staff of NEPA are already in doldrums not long after their payoff.

Having said that, no one has been able to try and convince the generality of our colleagues with quantified amount of the buyout which in itself may not amount to much. Brandishing 20yrs is not enough but 20yrs of what and which amounts to what per individual.
There is also the issue of a certain ambiguous percentage deduction for the ATEN group which boggles the mind.

Besides, since the case is said to be in court, nothing stops the implementation in case of success even after payrolling everybody.

all the former Nitel staff n pensioners that I no are all happy with this ptad Verification,I have gotten calls from childhood friends whose parent where my dad colleagues jubilating abt this, what I think abt this is for the pensioners to accept what is on ground first and then after consider d workability off aten group.abeg ppl have really suffered alot waiting and it will amt to foolishness for anyone acting otherwise now
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by michtz: 9:42am On Jan 13, 2018
When faced with two options, getting your bulk money or being placed on monthly pension. Its so amazing that people prefer monthly pension and I only wonder if they are truely Nigerians. If not for the sake of the present president who has placed a mandate on all pension liabilities what would have been the faith of pensioners, was pension not a lost cause in this country? Yet people want to dwel in the past where someone can easily squander your pension fund and you start all over again to hope for another messiah who would make pension payment a priority. Please give me my money and let me be responsible for my own demise. People are heading for grater destruction and they are happy.
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by segzy3(m): 11:33am On Jan 13, 2018
Everybody here are adults! Nobody is going for destruction and anybody fighting for buyout is living in limbo.even if the judgement is delivered in favor of oluti,I can say it without any fear of contradiction that gov will not honour it e.g dansuki case, udi killing e. tc.we've made up our mind,no campaign after election,I m in love with life pension cos that is what I have on my employment letter.anybody not interested should opt out cos I'll rather use my common sense and see the reality on ground.pension + outstanding pension is what I stand for and I see it as insult WHR some group of disgruntled people( <10yrs) who believe they ain't qualified for pension forcing their fanatical, unrealistic, outrageous preposterous decision down my throat.we all have choices(modern economics).

I think the argument now should how to campaign that ptad pay 3 days after verification as they have agreed before now and not this bulk buyout.waiting again for 4 months is quite a long time.any ongoing campaign for d payment within 3 days after verification is ended?

Sir, Nitel case is quite different from all the other cases you mentioned. The facts are there with supporting documents both from the liquidation. Do you think the Federal Government wants to form a habit of disregarding the ECOWAS court? Certainly at some point they would have to create an equillibrum by accepting ECOWAS court ruling believe me they can't afford to make ECOWAS court insignificant. Nitel case is going to be that breakthrough given that the funds for our lump payments are available and all these while some individuals have been enriching themselves from bank interests the funds yield. Everybody is at liberty at what choice they are to make its all a thing of individual strength and faith. Please note ptad has even mentioned they are not responsible for any outstanding pension so be careful with your expectations.

We really don't get it. Ptad is not solely responsible for payment of entitlements to ex staff of a privatised company. This is the responsibility of BPE yes ptad can supervise the process but the payment is the job of bpe. The president only gave ptad the mandate to address pension liability in the country they used it as an opportunity to bite more than they can chew.
If you follow ptad twitter handle you'll notice their last post in which they said to have gotten an approval letter from the ministry of finance and this came just as oluti's publication began to make the rounds thus using the ministry of finance as a back up and we all know that this issue is an employee/employer disagreement which could be very confusing and not everybody is knowledgeable in that arear especially as it involves a privatized company therefore anybody can ignorantly give approval. Well we will find out which holds more ground the rule of law or politics and politicians.

Nitels case is not special.a case is still pending at the supreme court handled by falana.only God knows when it will be presided over.femi falana adviced nitel pensioners/ex.worker to use other means to get their entitlement cos he feels the case may take eternity and there isn't assurance that it will be won.also, that was why halita, mashi and co used babachi lawal and other govt influence to place nitel workers on pension cos nitel reps then agreed and sign for 5yrs buyoutalso govt told halita there was no money for 20yrs.the approval by finance minister includes outstanding pension and Ptad boss admits that.that is y PTAD is working with bpe.I'm sure everyone here collected 5yrs and agreed via the reps, now we are going back for remaining 20yrs after our reps sold us out(reason why we lost at the appeal court) GOOD LUCK!

I suggest what we all should now is to follow them on twitter on these 2 accounts.
1.@PtadNigeria
2.@SharonIkeazor.
Lets all unite and Rebel against the 4-5 months payment of our benefits.
We already have our money as approved by Ministry of Finance.
So I see no reason why we should wait for 4months.
They must not use our money to buy Bitcoin.
A deal is a deal.
3days after verification, we must get our alerts.

infact, the most annoying thing is that, they are not sure of the 4 or 5months payment. They said 4 or 5month above, that means they don't know when excatly they will pay us. we will have to wait above 5month before we start expecting payment. Above means(6,7,8 month before payment). GOD pls collect our money money from this wicked people IJN, AMEN

I believe what you are trying to say is that PTAD said they will pay some arrears from the outstanding years but there is no clear information from PTAD yet on that. What i initially heard was that starting from January 2017 till date will be paid the monthly pension. So going by that, it will be from January 2017 till when the payment starts probably four months after febraury 2018 when the whole nitel/mtel will be verified. But that 4 months after verification far sha o.
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by segzy3(m): 8:38pm On Jan 18, 2018
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) yesterday commenced the verification of 22,000 NITEL/ MTEL pensioners nationwide for the purposes of off-setting the pension liabilities owed them by the Federal Government.

Speaking in Enugu yesterday at the verification centre for retirees from the South-East, Executive Secretary, PTAD, Mrs. Sharon Ikeazor, appealed to the National Assembly to speed up the passage of the 2018 budget so that the pensioners would get their pay immediately after the verification exercise as the fund meant for their payment was built into the 2018 budget.

Ikeazor explained that the exercise was decentralised into the six geopolitical zones of the country, including two centres in Lagos for South-West, Enugu for South-East, Port Harcourt for South-South, Kano for North-West, Gombe for North-East and Abuja for North-Central. She said no fewer than 2,035 pensioners were expected to be verified at the Enugu centre in the weeklong exercise taking place at Villa Toscana Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu.
Answering questions from journalists during the exercise, the executive secretary said: “After the verification, we are going to do what we call the computation of their entitle after computation, we have federal auditors who have to clear the payments before we actually make payment to them.

“We have actually told them clearly that payment is not automatic, it will take us at least four, five months to get this payment done because NITEL is not the only one under PTAD; they are part of the privatised agencies that we are handling. Recall that we did Delta Steel and we did New Nigeria Newspapers, NICON Insurance and Nigeria Reinsurance, among others.

“The money that will be paid to the pensioners will be appropriated in the budget, so we are waiting for the 2018 budget, all our funding liabilities are included into the budget so that’s why we are asking the National Assembly to speed up the passage of the budget.
