I believe education can take different forms. I do not think everyone can get the BSc/MS type of education. Not everyone can get it.

Players could get coaching badges which would help them transition into coaching life. Others could get qualifications and become agents. Other become pundits and earn money.

There are several ways to go. Players should be thinking of the end of their careers at the beginning. This is where education comes in..

My Father is an academic and taught at UNN that's why I speak Ibo.

In my experience Of Nigerian education. The Lecturers projected themselves as infallible and unquestionable. The lecturers are small god's who require total reverence and must always be obeyed . The modus of study was more about rote memorisation that is cramming and quoting everything the lecture has delivered and never to be in contention and or contradiction with your lecturers.

I went to two Russell group universities in England. I found it shocking to call my Prof. not sir but by his first name Ryan,at the time I thought oyibo deh craze. I remember at a lecture contending and disagreeing with my lecturer. In a large 200 seat lecture theatre.

Crazy but true, he simply got up handed me the microphone and asked me to take the lecture that on this occasion I clearly knew more than him. I can never imagine that happening in Nigeria. Infact the opposite will happen you have just failed that course.

So I think formal education increases and enhances your understanding and your knowledge capacity. It is not an end in itself but a catalyst to widen your appreciations.

Yes i agreed with you not really compulsory to be university degrees but they should find a way of educating themselves even if it's NIS but i don't see big deal in it in getting degree,being a pundits is not that easy even a coach but if they they can get certificate that would give them wider opportunities would be better not necessary they should continue in sports.

I still remember my university coach in person of ex international Amusa Adisa who was goalkeeper trainer at 2002 WC,he had his first and second degree in PE as an old man.He was able to get those degrees when he was a school coach and the man is doing well now,our players should try and educate themselves cos is not easy after football career.

There are graduates in Nigeria that might as well be uneducated. Just visit any NYSC camp. Sadly, It is getting worse.

A friend of mine stayed with one of the most respected Nigeria footballer in Paris and he told me that i should forget it that truly they have money but education is seriously affecting their way of life.He was the one that God used to shape up this footballer's life and till today they are inseparable ever when it comes to decision making.

Education mixed with street smart could help in preventing poorly designed scams, but in my case it was just about trusting too much someone I considered family.
The guy knew my investment plans, he simply partnered with some individuals who posed as importers and I trusted him to go check out those trucks because I wasn't in the country at the time and I never suspected anything. That was the end

In Oruma's case, I think hedging all his investment in a business venture which he knew very little about was a mistake everyone should learn from, not just football players.

Cameroun, Argentina, Algeria and Zambia left gaps (that is if you watched any of those games anyway)that no team in England will dare give Arsenal. This results in Iwobi having more space to do damage for Nigeria than he is normally used to at Arsenal.
Mind you this is just my opinion on why Iwobi have better record for Nigeria than Arsenal.

Most young players in big clubs are not living in apartments particularly outside London.

What is the point of a certificate if the holder can't even defend it? That is the state of Nigeria, majority certificate holders can't defend their certificates, they enter with nothing and come out even worse.

I'm here saying a girl in 300 level thinks Britain is in America, of what use will her certificate be if she is so ignorant? Most times, current affairs is what employers set as interview questions.

Most Nigerian youths do not know what is happening in this country. Last year, 400 level Sociology students wrote an exam where the lecturer set current affairs questions for them, he asked about the tussle that the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government were having as at then (the Maina issue) and about 97% of them did no know it. Even worse, they were justifying their lack of knowledge with the excuse that being in school doesn't afford one the luxury of watching the news on TV or listening on radio! Imagine, final year students with smart phones. Is it those ones that will now hold faith with their certificates?


Opportunities cannot open for you if you do not prove yourself worthy of them, many people get offered jobs simply by conversing with a person in the position to give jobs. Not because they have the certificate, the certificate will just give you more leverage over someone without, but in today's Nigeria, having a certificate isn't enough

I get your point, majority of our young people are not in tune with the state of things happening around them outside their academics. I remember how my roommates booed me repeatedly for always buying
and reading newspapers back when I was in the university before dropping out in my second semester.

Super Eagles battle Ukraine in World Cup warm-up March 27

Super Eagles of Nigeria
Super Eagles are set to play Ukraine on March 27 in another World Cup warm-up, SCORENigeria has specially gathered.

Both countries have yet to meet at full international level.



Ukraine did not qualify for the World Cup in neigbouring Russia.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have already confirmed pre-World Cup friendlies against Poland on March 23 in Warsaw and against England on June 2 at Wembley.

The NFF technical committee, which sat today in Abuja after their inauguration, discussed the Ukraine clash.

It was disclosed that Ukraine requested for the friendly and the NFF have since accepted this request.

The Eagles are also shopping for opponents for another friendly window on May 27 with the game to be played in Abuja.



There's no confirmation to the above just a speculation.
