Look,Arsenal are are famous for playing possession football, teams who face Arsenal play with a lot of defensive mindset to disrupt their game.
Cameroun, Argentina, Algeria and Zambia left gaps (that is if you watched any of those games anyway)that no team in England will dajre give Arsenal. This results in Iwobi having more space to do damage for Nigeria than he is normally used to at Arsenal.

Its been a while Super Eagles fans beat their chest confidently and make a boast of their team. Lately everyone seems to want to play safe so as not to set themselves up for disappointment. I can understand that. But frankly, its a new era and its time we all get on the success train with this current team.

In case we havent noticed, this team possesses something that other previous world cup teams that Nigeria paraded in the past never had. They are young, focussed and goal driven. They also arent an assemblage of super stars like before but they are a TEAM and are committed. Their love for the National team is practically unrivalled in all the teams I have seen Nigeria parade. I juat kinda wonder why we never see that this is a major ingredient that has been fueling their performance. No bad blood, no beefs, no cabal, no Mafia. Even the ones that didnt get to play are having a good time in camp. I dont know how they achieved that but long may this continue.

This current team, branded average were placed in a group of Death with 2 former african champions and the current african champs. Lemme reiterate that being an african champion no matter who the opposition is, is not a mean feat. It was not like they waited for everyone to play finish and then the winner met them in the finals, no sir! It was done through sweat and blood and loss of limbs . Having put this into perspective, these big 4 were put in the same group. I practically cried blue murder, conpiracy of the highest order. But here we are, these boys got the job done with a game to spare.


Yes, they dont have all the Neymars, Messis, Agueros, Griezmanns and the likes but they still standing. As little as a termite is, it possesses enough arsenal to remove the pants off a 10 ft giant anyday anytime. Invariably, its not by size. Juat because our players dont play in top leagues doesnt mean we are not good enough. Club football can never equate to national team soccer. And frankly this is how I prove it. Left to any sensible club coach, he wants to fortify his team with quality players, he has the backing of his club to go purchasing a player. Take for instance PSG went to buy Neymar at the ridiculous amount they spent to fortify their attack and they still went ahead to get Mbappe. If it were up to the coach, he will also get Ronaldo, Dyabala, Marcelo, Asensio, and the likes bust sadly, the reality is he cant do so. There are things that militate against that. He has to toe the line of certain rules. In other words he has to make use of whats on ground.

That said, the National team football doesnt have the luxury of choosing which player to buy from top teams. Keep in mind the peculiarity of Nigeria's situation that back to back Afcon misses havent helped us in our cause. It hasnt put any player o the map for all to see. We didnt have the opportunity to showcase what our chosen players can do for over 4years. Nigeria's soccer hit the rock bottom. An all time low since I knew us to be playing international football. Now we come out of the woods after getting a few things right from the basics and now it still feels like we are in dreamland

I am bold to say and yall can quote me anyday , anytime. NIGERIA is the only nation i the world that has raw talents that can be harnessed to build a team up to team K if we so desire. If you dont believe me, start scouting and you will see. If resources were not a problem and our scouting department is ready to do her job without nepostism or bias and will not give in to needless media hype of certain players ; if they ready to comb every nook and cranny of the country for talents, you will be shocked that we have many raw talents that need to be refined and polished. Story for another day....


My advice is let us not wait until the team now beats brazil before we start to believe in our team. It cant be worse than it has ever been. Reality is... it is what it is. This is the team we found and this is the team that did the job. Not some set of super stars that cant be corrected because they earn much more than a coach.

Believe and show some belief. Enough of teardowns of our players like they some piece of electronics.

I know also that Simon Moses' final balls are sometimes ineffective. I know that Vicmo is said to be selfish and Ighalo is erratic in his performances for Nigeria. I know Iheanacho and Musa are struggling with getting game time at their respective clubs. In short I know you guys are an average team and perhaps - to sate the appetite of sceptics - even less than average. I looked for you guys in Man Utd, Real, Barcelona, PSG, Inter Milan, Juve, Bayern Munich I found none. Some of una dey chill for China, some - as one of our venerable sceptics likes to say - are in the backwater leagues of Turkey, Holland and Belgium. Some are on the bench saving it from cold with their asses.

I will not speak of your strength, no I will not. Your faults, your inadequacies, your deficiencies is what I want to look at with an uncompromising eye and I have seen plenty of it to to make me play safe with my hopes and expectations of you.

But I swear that notwithstanding your faults I can't fit stop believing in you guys. It's impossicant for me. I'm really excited about his recent move to Mainz, also top it up with a goal in his debut. Definitely better than nwakeme, kayode nd co. Atleast he's done it at the highest level, besides there are not many 27 year old strikers can we boast of with that experience at the top level. If he scores just 8 goals, he's going to Russia. I specifically remember suggesting that rather than that, if someone can take this education to the streets, tell the street footballers about how contracts work and why they shouldn't sign slave contracts or anything they do not have full knowledge of, it will be for the better. Club academies should be holding classes for these things, the NFF should look into organising such sessions for players in the age grade teams.
