All religions NEVER appealed to me because of the levels of contradictions in the teachings and blatant hypocrisy of the followers. wink

I am happily Agnostic. cool
I have had peace believing what I believe to form a unique philosophical mind.

I simply take ONLY THE GOOD in all teachings or RELIGIONS and live my life.

No preaching or conversions necessary.

The only GOD I know is the one in my heart.
The one I can question without fear.
The one I don’t have to love or respect BY FORCE!

The GOD in my heart I try to understand, because IT is just as complex as I am. kiss

Let me help you a little.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism

Agnosticism is the view that the existence of God, of the divine or the supernatural is unknown or unknowable.[1][2][3]

According to the philosopher William L. Rowe, "agnosticism is the view that human reason is incapable of providing sufficient rational grounds to justify either the belief that God exists or the belief that God does not exist".[2] Agnosticism is a doctrine or set of tenets[4] rather than a religion.

You're agnostic because: (i) you can't prove that God exists, and (ii) you can't prove that God does not exists.

So why do you continually fault the existence of God? Aren't you supposed to remain neutral?

Granted, both aren't the same, but they are also not mutually exclusive. I'm an agnostic atheist for example. As a matter of fact, I'm an atheist precisely because of my agnosticism.

Still waiting for proof.
I only ? the nature of the existence of deities in religions and the lack of consistency and RATIONALITY in the doctrines they propagate through their so-called prophets, messangers and believers. That is what agnostic-theists do.

Thank you.

To be clear, is it your meaning that while you have no knowledge of the existence of any god per se, you believe that one exists? That's how I would interpret the posture of an agnostic-theist.

Thanks for the clarification. kiss

Oh yes. I believe I have a personal “God”.
The nature/s of the so-called “existing Gods” remains/remain enigmatic.

No 2 persons have the same “God”.
The reason I don’t believe in “fellowships”.

KanwuliaExtra from what I understand about Agnosticism they don't believe in 'Personal God'. They believe that the existence of God is unknown or unknownable. It's more like after trying to understand a topic and seeing it's complications finally decide that 'he might or might not exist but there's a supernaturall entity'. Keyword are 'supernatural and divine'. The term 'Personal God' and 'picking the good from every religion' sounds atheist. You believe in yourself KanwuliaExtra from what I observe not in some divine being. An agnostic would pray in the morning but still do all he can to succeed, a religious person would pray and hand over all to God, while an atheist would walk out that door and believe he/she is the master of his/her fate. Keywords are entity, divine, supernatural, creation and existence of a god-like entity

KanwuliaExtra from what I understand about Agnosticism they don't believe in 'Personal God'.

All about interpretation. wink
It could be personal or a universal “God”. Up to the INDIVIDUAL Agnostic to make the rules. It is not a “group” experience. It is an individual, philosophical exercise.

In Agnosticism, there is a wide range of interpretations aka perceptions. The reason we have Agnostic-Theists and Agnostic-Atheists. wink

It is what the individual says IT IS.
Divine, maybe. All up to the INDIVIDUAL.
I don’t call my “Agnostic Deity” divine. It cannot be defined even where I think it exists. The reason Agnostic-Theists keep looking for answers. wink l have not found it YET.

Blonchilli:
The term 'Personal God' and 'picking the good from every religion' sounds atheist. You believe in yourself KanwuliaExtra from what I observe not in some divine being.

Your interpretation. I choose what I want to believe. Yes, I believe in myself and I believe in THE POSSIBILITY of something of a HIGHER INTELLIGENCE out there/in me that contributes to my wellbeing. The “ENTITY” and I are in an ever-evolving and dynamic relationship. I always ask questions and can never be in AWE, pray or show respect if I don’t want to. I DO NOT KNOW OR UNDERSTAND IT! Simple. I am never gonna FAKE that. kiss

Blonchilli:

Agnostics ask questions, not pray. Agnostic-Theist only give THANKS and express JOY OR SADNESS to a “chosen GOD” if the feelings arose. We do what WE PLEASE because WE WANT TO! cool

Agnostics and Atheists do not rely on any being to succeed like people with “established religions”.
The differences are as follows:

(A.Ts)=Agnostic-Theists.
(A.As)=Agnostic-Atheists.

1. Religious followers believe “it is in the hands of God”, and they may work or remain docile towards achieving their goals in life. wink

2. The Agnostic-Atheist does not believe in the existence of any divine being, and works to achieve life’s goals independently. wink

3. The Agnostic-Theist, like the Agnostic-Atheist is self-believing. But, while working to achieve personal/spiritual/philosophical goals, the A.Ts are BELIEVERS OF THE POSSIBILITIES in “SOME GOD” that is UNKNOWN. The A.T. ASKS QUESTIONS ABOUT WHATEVER GOD he/she chooses to recognize and seeks some understanding not provided by ANY OTHER RELIGION. wink

Both however, can NEVER LEAVE THINGS IN THE HANDS OF ANY “GOD” that is UNKNOWN(A.Ts.) or DOES NOT EXIST.(A.As). wink

An agnostic is simply someone who doesn't have the guts to be an atheist, the word 'agnostic' means 'ignoramus' in latin

Referring myself to be an "agnostic theist or atheist" would be like playing with my head. Look at it this way.

An agnostic is in-between belief and non-belief, taking no side. An agnostic atheist exhibits more of non-belief away from the neutral stand. On the other hand, an agnostic theist exhibits more of belief away from the neutral stand.
When one is battling from being an atheist, though an agnostic, that situation is that of an agnostic atheist and sad to say despite my opening expression, such I am. A similar arrangement holds for an agnostic theists. By this, I would like to affirm also that the idea of a personal god does in no way arise.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. Out of curiosity, could you speculate on what happens to each personal god when death strikes the host/believer? Also, if the god is unknown or unknowable, what practical purpose does it serve for you?

Life and the existence of “God” ends with DEATH.
There is no life or the concept of “God” or spirituality after death. My opinion. wink

The purpose of an unknown “God” is to fill a void of of intellectual/spiritual curiosity. Like trying to solve a challenging puzzle about the world I live in. Just a choice. wink

Yeah, my meaning was the former.

So in any case, if 'god' is basically just a synonym for 'ignorance', why do you call yourself a theist? What has ignorance got to do with theism?

God is not a synonym for ignorance. That is your opinion. wink

The nature/s of “ALL GODS” are unknown. Even if or where they exist, they remain unknown.

The best anyone can do is ATTEMPT to characterize them.

That is what pastors, prophets and imams try to do and FAIL WOEFULLY as they deceive and mislead the gullible followers. wink

I don't get why anyone should characterise something which they are unsure of its existence. Shouldn't the first step be ascertaining its existence?

That is what pastors, prophets and imams try to do and FAIL WOEFULLY as they deceive and mislead the gullible followers. wink
Yeah, and there's a reason they all fail woefully: Despite their tenacious posturing, they don't know that god(s) exist(s), do they?

What I don't get is this; why do you consider yourself a theist, given the nebulous nature of this personal god. You don't even have a definition for it, but you believe in it. Don't you think that's absurd?

I have answered all these questions and my answers are not acceptable by you.
I already explained that I believe in possibilities ACCEPTABLE BY ME.
If you can describe the nature of any “God” as “nebulous”, is that not a form of characterization? undecided

How can I define something that is unknown to me? grin
You exist I presume, but DO I KNOW YOU? wink

I am not in the “converting” business.
No need for “cyclical” arguments.
You are entitled to your opinions, and cannot ? them.

In summary:
Everyone chooses what to believe.
Life is all about choice.
Have a great day. kiss
