Northern States, Universities Denying Christians Employment And Admission - ECWA by Nobody: 3:08pm On Jan 13, 2018 |
The Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, has alleged that higher institutions in the Northern part of the country, have been denying Christians admissions into professional courses. The church also alleged that Christians have also been denied employment on account of their religion. NEWSNorthern states, universities denying Christians employment, admissions – ECWAPublished on December 18, 2017 By John Owen Nwachukwu The Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, has alleged that higher institutions in the Northern part of the country, have been denying Christians admissions into professional courses. The church also alleged that Christians have also been denied employment on account of their religion. ECWA further expressed concern over the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the country with a call on the Federal Government to explain why no conviction had been secured against perpetrators. These claims were part of the 10-point observations made by ECWA and contained in a communiqué signed by its President, Dr. Jeremiah Gado, and the General Secretary, Rev. Yunusa Nmadu, after its five-day Pastors International Conference, held at Bingham University, in New Karu, Nasarawa State on Sunday. ECWA stated, “We have noticed with great dismay the negative happenings in our country, especially the northern part of this country. It is the issue of admission into universities and other tertiary institutions, whereby qualified candidates are refused entry on the basis of their faith especially into professional courses. “This does not augur well for national unity nor does it promote the tenet of equity and fairness. Many Christians have complained and we see this happening in many universities and other tertiary institutions of the North. We challenge the federal and state-owned institutions to publicly publish the list of those offered admission. As a denomination, we condemn these practices and call on the Federal Government to check these happenings as they constitute a grave threat to the unity of our dear country. ECWA also threw its weight behind the calls for the restructuring of the country, describing the development as a “noble one. “The recent call for the restructuring of our nation ‘Nigeria’ is a noble one. As an indigenous church, we are aware of the injustices that have created dissatisfaction among the Nigerian people. We believe that the only way to maintain our corporate identity, as one indivisible nation, is to restructure and promote equity and the enforcement of the rule of law. “This restructuring might not necessarily be done in the way that people are suggesting; but we need a restructuring that is based on the foundation of equity and honesty where everyone is treated equally. We need to return to the ideals of our founding fathers so as to keep the nation moving.” While also raising the alarm over the abduction and giving out of underage Christian girls into marriage by force to people “most times old enough to be their fathers,” ECWA called on the Federal Government to check the trend which it best described as “evil practice.” It added, “The Fulani herdsmen emerged from nowhere and continue to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens in the central and other parts of this country. under this government, Nigerians have been so divided along ethnic and religious lines. if you are not fulani and particularly, sunni muslim, then you're in for it. shiite muslim is even very unacceptable. ask el zakzaky and his followers who are daily murdered by the Nigerian armed cowards(not forces). Nigerians, fasten your seat belt for few months more, it's just 12months to election and the dullard will be sent to hague and tried for crimes against humanity at international criminal court. 47 Likes 1 Share |

I don't know what's wrong Christian group, they've no shame. There are more Christians students than there are Muslims in Northern universities. Check the 2017/2018 KASU admission list, more than 60% of the admitted students are Christians. 26 Likes 6 Shares |

I doubt this. I know for a fact that many southerners, especially Igbos, are in the employ of Northern universities and they also gain admission easily. 20 Likes 3 Shares |

If ECWA really want a solution, they will be doing their members great service by naming the university and make the bold statement that Christians are denied admission. Take it up to federal level, at least let it trend and have a review of the school admission process. 6 Likes |

Very true.. i can attest to that. We number 1 to 40 Muslims in federal university dutse. And it is same situation in most Northern universities. We haven't been given a chapel for fellowship but they're currently in the last phase in the construction of the third mosque in the school. It's really painful and nothing is been done about it. 15 Likes 1 Share |

This is very very untrue. If you compare the admission list of A.B.U to that of U.N.N, it is very apparent that the northern universities are even more liberal. Go through the names the lecturers in both schools you'll know the truth. 23 Likes 4 Shares |
