Olanrewaju Yet To Return To Girona After Christmas Break, Misses Las Palmas Clash

Nigerian striker, Kayode Olanrewaju, is yet to return to his LaLiga Santander side Girona after the Christmas break, and will miss club’s League clash with Las Palmas in Montilivi today (Saturday) as he Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.

The game is the second straight game the 24 year old Nigerian forward will be missing after he failed to report back to the club from the Christmas break.

He was also not in the matchday squad for Girona, in their 4-2 away defeat to Valencia at the Mestalla stadium last week.

According to a report on Spanish daily, L’Esportiu, the former Austria Wein striker has his head turned on after receiving offers from several teams during the January transfer window and he is also concerned about his chances of making Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup Squad.

But Girona are not willing to allow the striker leave until the end of the season despite, the Nigerian failing to score a goal in 12 LaLiga Santander games because they believe he is still capable of regaining his scoring form for Pablo Machin’s team.

Olanrewaju has three international caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria since he made his debut against South Africa in an African Nations Cup qualifier in June last year.

Girona are 13th in the Spanish La Liga Santander table with 23 points from 18 games played so far.

Rohr said he doesn't want to take unfit average players to the WC. Therefore, Sone Aluko can easily and perfectly replace Iheanacho who is in a worst condition.

But, Ndidi will easily find his way around the formation because it is a defensive set-up. Ndidi plays as a defensive midfielder. However the forward players are the ones who are finding it hard in the set-up.

Ndidi's challenge is when it comes to forward play. Shakespeare's system inhibits the creative side of Ndidi.

The Nigeria Football Federation and England’s Football Association on Wednesday confirmed that there will be a friendly between the Super Eagles and the Three Lions in London on 2 June.

Both teams will be looking to use the Wembley match as preparation towards the Russia 2018 World Cup which starts few days after the game.

While everybody agrees that this is a high-profile friendly for the Super Eagles given the calibre of opponent and the venue, eye brows have been raised in some quarters regarding the usefulness of the match.

Those against the friendly argue that the Super Eagles need to play countries with styles similar to Russia 2018 group phase opponents Argentina, Croatia and Iceland to give the Nigerian side a sense of what they will come up against at the World Cup.

Months ago under Shakespeare, I even pointed out that Ndidi was metamorphing into more creative player and Shakespeare was holding him back. Yesterday was a testament of my cries. The negative tactics is not only holding our players back but the team.

I hope Puel embraces it and continue encouraging his players to play in a brave fashion.

By the way, did anyone see Ndidi pull off the turn Mikel Obi usually makes in tight situations? Got me clapping.

It's a breaking news bro. There were doubts earlier when Onyekuru made that claim that was why his loan club came out of to rebuff it. But now it is official, after thorough checks by one of the finest knee specialists in Europe, hence no room for doubts no more and his club won't be coming out to kinda debunk it again.

About the big news, here is a hint; As Rohr has adopted the 3-5-2 as one of his formations, he is looking forward to start integrating the German boys as early as March. Of the three German boys, Akpoguma and of course Uduokhai, I was told are already in the bag and this might be Rohr's backline against Poland.

Rohr has cooled the interest on Jordan Torunarigha because he hasn't been seeing enough game time and this doesn't seem to end anytime soon as he is his club's third choice left back behind Platenhardt 25 and Maxi 20. Hence isn't better than what we have in Aina, Idowu and Echiejile.

As it stands now, our three lovely right backs might make it to the world cup.

You have lead a campaign of calumny against Claude Puel just because he doesn't find Kelechi good enough for his system. Youre even at pains to admit that he has worked on Ndid's weakness (which is ball handling and passing).

It is laughable you will rather credit Shakespeare for Ndidi's improved passing numbers against Chelsea, (a man who have left Leicester City over 4 months and counting )when it is on record that Ndidi 86% pass completion he pulled was a career high.

Great news about Onyekuru. Since he wont be needing surgery, I figured he could be out of action maximum, 3 months. Hopefully there won't be setback or reoccurrence during rehab.
I am skeptical about the possibility of the German boys being ready in time for the Poland friendly since the documentation process with FIFA and DFA haven't started.From our experience in the past, this process usually takes us 6-8 months to complete.
