Good evening house, please how important is it to have an English language proficiency test for student visa to Australia.
I have submitted my application since Dec 22nd, with 6.5 band score of IELTS general, can I my grant with that or do I have to write an academic test?

My program start date is 26th of Feb..

Yes, I got a supervisor (we've been working together for a while) first before applying and applied for the RTP scholarship (for tuition and stipend)online through the school website. The PHD program is for 3-4 years. It costs about $34,200 AUD per annum.

I think Academic is best accepted for students while General is for people going with work visas. I stand to be corrected though.
