LadyGuinivere:You could do well to point me there, rather than be saucy about trivialities. If I knew the right thread, I would have no business here as I see you have built an estate here already. 3 Likes |

EsotericMonk: Yes. An estate was built by Nairaland. This thread is for helping folks for visit visa, not for asylum seekers. If you cannot research or figure out that the migrant thread is a better thread then don't put it on me. If being told to do the right thing is being saucy, then I accept it gladly because I do not consider rule breaking "trivia" 5 Likes |

adega: If I get you right, the stamp on yours and that of your daughter has [23] while your wife has [ 3]...I think from a straight glance by an objective VO it will be fairly obvious that its just an issue of illegibility...unless of course what she has is [3] and not [ 3]. 1 Like |

LadyGuinivere:Spoken like a typical Nigerian who would take a mouthful to explain what you would have said in one breath, creating a scene out of nothing. MoF, no one is seeking asylum anywhere and not everyone that gets on a travel thread is intent on a journey, no knowledge is wasted. Now tell me if you aren't the one derailing when a simple answer would have settled it all. So much for trying to be socially correct, madam Nairaland 3 Likes |

adega: Let's see a closeup screenshot of one each of both category of stamp. I really don't think there's an issue here especially if you know this quoted travel history is genuine and the stampings were done right in your front on arrival. |

Hi all Please i’m not sure if this problem has been discussed here as I have tried to search using keywords. I am trying to renew my us visa however my profile is part of my husband’s and he isn’t applying with me and the system will not let me schedule an appointment with a new profile does anyone have any idea how I can go about resolving this? Thanks in advance |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by LadyGuinivere: 11:54am On Jan 17, 2018 |
adega:Not an issue. Your exit is also electronically saved. If you are however not comfy with that, you can just write the embassy. That will reassure you undoubtedly. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by LadyGuinivere: 11:55am On Jan 17, 2018 |
mzsI:Any and all profile issues are treated by the help desk. Holla them and they'll sort it out |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by Taal17: 1:55pm On Jan 17, 2018 |
adega:No need to put a screenshot. I'd say keep the boarding passes (make copies) it would be useful for other applications. It's advisable to check stamps on passports though...it can cause unnecessary complications |

EsotericMonk:I wager you will also curse me out for what I am about to write. But I will write it nonetheless. You said you do not want to ask for asylum yet you asked the question, asking for someone creo? Anyways, to answer your question: Asylum heh? Asylum in the US is no beans. It's not like those kwe-kwe countries that will grant people asylum at the drop of a hat just by cooking cock&bull stories. First, your stories must be LEGIT!. Cos they WILL VERIFY!. So whatever stories you or whoever is applying for it must be water tight and correct. I know someone who had been in the process since 2013 and only just got their green card like early this year. They had been in the US since 2011 or so and overstayed then applied for asylum. They had a legit story tho. The person confided in my husband and told him they wish they had not gone the asylum route. It was hell. They had their interview since late 2016 and never got a green card in the mail until 2018. So go figure. They haven't stepped out of the US since 2011, I beleive. Like I said, make sure whoever is applying for the asylum is a genuine asylum seeker. And like Twoods posted, I do not think there is a situation in Nigeria that warrants asylum right now. Coupled with the fact that you're from a shithole country, plus our present commander in chief, good luck seeking with asylum and and goodluck with the USCIS too. 3 Likes |

Thanks @MamaOO, I appreciate your kind input and more responsible comment. I am not seeking an asylum ooo and I never will. US has never been my preferred destination and I actually have an aversion for the States. I only needed the info as part of comparative analysis (as said in my previous response, no knowledge is wasted, you have better educated me tonight) When I was in Nigeria, I was doing very fine, so I can't be a second class citizen wherever I find myself. Thanks too @Twoods, much appreciation. 2 Likes |

LadyG is doing what should be done because most some people who seek help/assistance on this thread real intention is to migrate although not everyone but some people. kayvine4u: This story is very painful and it goes to show you how some men can be so insensitive. The lady has looked for a child for 10 whole years. The least the oga could do was show up for a visa interview and then go with her to see the Doctor in the US. He failed to do that and this my friend, is the cause of this unfortunate incident. Even a layman knows that you can’t receive fertility treatment alone. The treatment is for the couple. How would she do the IVF if the sperm carrier is not available in the US with her? Was she planning to use a sperm donor? I hope you are getting my point. The CBP is not daft and he/she could easily tell that these unanswered questions are suspicious. I feel sorry for the lady cos she seems to be the only one invested in getting a baby. She needs to sit down with her spouse and decide if he is game and they have to work together as a couple as far as IVF and other fertility treatment is concerned. She can also try the UK. My colleague was successful in having her babies through IVF in the UK. All the best to the lady and her husband. 1 Like |

adega: If they ask you about the trip to Dubai then I'd say answer when you departed and when you returned. If per chance a VO checks your passports to verify that then you can mention the issue with the exit stamp date and just add you have the boarding passes to prove it. So keep the boarding passes. Asides that you'll be fine 1 Like |

I had my visa interview today, 9am at US consulate. Thank you guys so much for all your efforts in putting out information here. As I've received information, so will I also give out my own transcript. I learned a whole lot about being confident and not "cramming your answers." I learned about dressing well from you guys and coming early. Be free, flow and have a discussion if you can with the V.O. My V.O had denied like a family and ... In fact if I was watching well, I think she denied quite a number of people exactly before me. I left my house around 6am and got to the U.S consulate around past 7am meanwhile my interview was by 9. So I just paid for a place where I would drop my bag safely and then I sat down there till 8.20. Those photocopy and business guys were just telling me "have you stappled your passport to your DS-160 and done this and done that?" I just told him not to worry that I have everything under control. He even offered to give me his stapler to use for free, I just said thank you, no and I smiled. I did this because the first time I went for my first visa interview, a man working at the Consulate asked me if he'd instructed me to staple my passport picture to my DS-160. I took cue from the last time and didn't bother stapling anything. So as I was saying... By 8.20 I carried my file and all and went to stand on the line. The queue was long and after passing through all necessary checks. We sat down and waited for the CGI people to tell us to proceed for the interview proper. Inside the interview room I must've stood in line for almost 1 hour. People wore all sorts of different things, sandals, cover shoes, palms, native, casual, cooperate, etc. The lady in front of me was quite shaky and I could tell as I stood behind her. I can't exactly conclude but to me, I thought she had crammed all she was saying especially when the nervousness got to her. As they dashed her blue paper, I was up next! *** Here is my visa interview transcript. It may not be exact cause I've forgotten some but it went something like this: V.o: Hi good morning. Me: smiles. Hi good morning. V.o: pass me your passport. Me. Alright V.o: so how old are you? Me. I'm 19 years old. V.o: where are you going to? Me: I'll be traveling to New York as a selected Bleep to meet with 33 other teens like myself from around the World and attend the Bleep Summit in New York City. V.O: How long are you staying? Me: I'll be staying from so so to so time and it's roughly 1 week I'll be in New York. V.o: (Nods) how was your last visit to the US? Me: Smiles (because I just remembered my last visit and the memories were so good). It was really good! V.o: where and where did you go? Me. We went to California State University, University of Missouri Kansas City, U.S Department of State... V.o: (cuts in, she looks up quickly at me and her eye shone like something caught her attention and she was just nodding)... in D.C? Me: Yes in DC. Smiles back. V.o: Nice! Are you single? Me. Sorry? (I didn't hear her well). She repeated like 2-3 times before I gave her a puzzled look. Me: Yes. V.o: Do you have any children? Me: I gave her an even more puzzled look (well in all sincerity, I was a little puzzled and I smiled too) No V.o: (looks friendly and maybe smiles too). Are you a student? Me. Yes I'm a university/final year student studying English. V.o what university? Me. I'm studying at so and so university in Nigeria V.o (stamps something inside my passport and her face is still friendly) you can get your passport/visa by Tuesday at this location here. (Slides me a white paper.) Me: Thank you. V.o: have a nice day. Me: Smiles back thanks you too. I was trying to hold my smile as I walked out of the Consulate to go and carry my bag and I thank God a whole lot for the success. This is my second successful Visa interview in different categories just roughly within 6 months and I'm grateful to God. It may be true that the V.O's may not be able to see what you're wearing but I'll say please do your best to dress decently or well enough whether they're looking or not. Be confident and audible, try, even though you're scared. Pray too because the visa anyway isn't always given to the best dressed. Good preparedness and good chance and you maximizing the opportunity happen to all. By 10.15 or 10.20 I was done. 14 Likes 1 Share |
