Is warisboring now bringing out false information? They should have realized the mi-17 NAF referred to was the one in the video released by BHT. Boko Haram not behind crashed Mi-17 helicopter – Military The Nigerian Air Force, has said the Mi-17 helicopter, which crashed during an operation in the North-East, was not shot down by Boko Haram terrorists. Abubakar Shekau, a factional leader of the deadly group had in a new video claimed his group was behind the crashing of the helicopter. But reacting to the claim by the insurgents, NAF Spokesperson, Adesanya, said, “The Boko Haram did not shoot down the NAF’s Mi-17 helicopter. If that were the case, the public would have been duly informed. “The NAF remains accountable to the citizenry. This is why we issued a statement immediately after the crash landing of the helicopter, which was on a routine mission in the North-East. |

For the guys who are going to participate in this twitter chat with the Nigerian Air Force, could you ask why there is a delay in delivery of the JF-17s and the 10 remaining MI-35m. @newAfricaken254, perhaps you could also help out. 3 Likes

That time we put the ZA-35 on a T-72. Anybody got the pics of the T-72 at AAD/DEXSA back in the early 90s? 1 Like

lionel4power:I don't know whether it would be sold to Nigeria. It is unlikely. Also consider with the economy improving, Nigeria is likely to continue its procurement of the Russian MI35., However having said that the NAF is now considering westernized helicopters for their SF....They are the Eurocopters HC135 |

CaptainStephen:according to the COAS, there are 10,000 soldiers deployed in Niger Delta. Then there should be 2x of that at the north east fighting bokoharam. This link also proves there are over 4,000 soldiers there as claimed. https://www.channelstv.com/2017/07/25/nigeria-army-promotes-6199-soldiers-fighting-north-east/ 1 Like |

MikeCZA:only one of the new divisions runs skeletal system which is because its a task force division deployed outside their operational AOR, While 7 division runs fully, 3 division is also deployed as an outpost in key locations. |

tdayof: Indeed it does. Considering 1 Sergeant usually = 1 platoon, and the Nigerian army is modelled on the British Army so a platoon is 24 that puts the number at around 8900 in the NE. This is of course assuming that every sergeant is in a rifle platoon |
