Uche Nwofor more than deserved to be in that team. I can't say same for Okechukwu Uchebo, Gabriel Reuben and Chigozie Agbim
.

Not just for that WC alone, the idea of Keeping 7 slots for home based players in the squad was not just acceptable to me . Select the best rather than keeping quotas.

it baffles me seeing people advocate for the inclusion of certain players not because they play better but because of sentiment....

the best should be picked that's my take and front I have seen thus far none is in that category yet.
Was Afeez Aremu better than what we had then but Rohr gave him a call-up.

You're entitled to your opinion bro. I agree his career was on the rise BUT my opinion remains and I believe I have proven there were better strikers available both in terms of performances, stats and experience.

It is not just my point.

Were you not aware of the lack luster performances of Eneramo, Ujah, and Ideye which paved way for Uche Nwofor?

hardwork at the expense of who? So, the guys who are working hard but are not in the league, they should not be rewarded?

Who even told you that these CHAN people worked hard for this opportunity? Do you know how many players better than the likes of Okpotu and Ali were passed up so that some select few can shine unmerited shining? What happened to the hardwork of those people?

We should learn to reward hardwork, but not at the expense of competence. These are not even the best players in the league, if you want to reward hardwork, do it on a level playing field where the best compete against the best.

I have told you people, the next friendlies will not be for anybody outside Europe, remember how Alampasu was dropped for Ajiboye because Ajiboye was in the location the game was to be played and Alampasu was in Europe? That is what will play out in March

People are always so quick to call for this player or that player's inclusion. Who did this CHAN team play against? Rwanda, Libya and E. Guinea. Teams that are not even in top 20 in Africa. Goldfish has even said Orji has performed better than Balogun. Na wa o. Na make we kuku drop Balogun and carry Orji to World Cup.

The better players from the league who have secured better contracts in Europe but have not even been considered for the Super Eagles who will reward them?

Iheanacho Wants To Emulate Nigeria Greats Kanu, Okocha In Favorite Competition

Back in form Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has admitted that ex-Arsenal star Nwankwo Kanu and ex-Bolton Wanderers hero Austin Okocha have inspired him to continue scoring goals for the Foxes in the Emirates FA Cup.

Relegated to the bench since the season started, the Nigeria international strengthened his claim for a starting shirt by tripling his tally for the season, with a brace against Fleetwood Town in the third round of the competition.

''I think the FA Cup has great memories and I think there have been Nigerian legends that have played in it as well, like Jay-Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu,'' Iheanacho told LCFC TV.

''They’ve played in it, so it’s a great thing to play in the FA Cup. I have great memories. I hope I’ll be in it and have one great memory, which is winning the FA Cup.''
Nwankwo Kanu won three FA Cups with Arsenal and Portsmouth, while Okocha made three appearances in the competition.

The FA Cup is Iheanacho's favourite competition, having scored 7 goals in 8 matches.

U cant come and start comparing KDB to Osas Okoro for goodness sake. Even in the main team our wingers and full backs get mixed up.

I'm not comparing KDB and osas Okoro, they are not in the same class at all!! I was only trying to give you an example of how european play more with their brains than body..

A lot of this refinement is what is helping super eagles since most of our players are learning these methods abroad, there is A lot of education during the formative years of a footballer btw (9-25yrs). I wish our local league coaches apply some of this training to our local league players, then the gap of knowledge between foreign and local based player would reduce thereby creating somewhat of a level playing field( thou the exposure at a higher level is still needed)..

Have you ever thought of the difference between Iwobi and Moses simon..the way iwobi plays the game is more of using his head, Simon expresses himself with his pace!! But the level of football education iwobi has received shows in both their plays!! (The reason for comparison is they are both in competition for the same spot in super eagles if we use our 4-2-3-1 formation)

Classic example is the goal iwobi scored against Argentina to equalize at 2-2, even our Ighalo would not have known how to position to receive the ball from nacho, all iwobi did was a fake and that created room for the pass so he could slot in, it looks easy to you but it takes smart players to execute those kind of plays. Note: I watch American football a lot and everything they do on the field are well constructed play.

All I want is our home base players to have this kind of knowledge, it would really take them to the next level.

Continental club competitions are more pivotal to the development of the local leagues.

Clubs can buy players from around the world, this freedom can mask the real football development in the countries in question. Some leagues are populated by "foreign" African players (Psl for instance), Chan attempts to even things out and expose the real football development in African countries.
Club football cannot give you this. Chan is quite special.

Kalu Rues Gent’s Draw At Antwerp Despite Bagging Goal Assist
By Johnny Edward

KAA Gent’s Nigerian forward, Samuel Kalu, has rued his side’s 1-1 away draw with Royal Antwerp in their first Belgian first division league game in 2018 on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Kalu who made a return to the Buffaloes starting line-up after bagging a red card in Gent’s 1-0 loss to RSC Anderlecht in December, 2017 told his club’s official website that they were unlucky not to have won the match after going ahead with a goal in the 34th minute.

The 20 year old provided an assist for Roman Yaremchuk to score from close range, but Stallone Limbombe scored to earn Royal Antwerp a share of the spoils from the game.

“Roman was in the right place, I knew where to place it,” Kalu told his club’s official website after the game.
“It is a shame we did not take the three points home because it was what we deserved.
“I was glad that I could play again, after my red card against Anderlecht. And now, I look forward to the next match on Sunday.”
Kalu has featured in 18 league games for Gent in the current season, scoring four goals and providing three assists. Gent are fourth in the table with 36 points from 23 games.

FC Porto Recalls Ex Nigeria U17 Star Chidera Ezeh From Portimonese Loan

Portuguese top division side FC Porto have recalled former Nigeria youth international Chidera Ezeh from his loan with fellow top division side Portimonense.

Last season Ezeh was instrumental in helping Portimonense gain promotion to the top division in Portugal, a form which made them extend his loan for another year.
However, unlike last season he has struggled to get games this season, a situation which has forced Porto to terminate his loan deal, and he will represent their B team who are playing in the second division.

Rated as one of the top prospects in the Nigerian U17 team that won the 2013 World Youth Championship, he has battled with injury issues since signing professional terms with FC Porto.

20 year old Ezeh made 13 appearances last season for Portimonense, and so far he has played just twice this season following their promotion to the top division in Portugal.

At Porto B, he will link up with his former teammate at the Nigeria youth national team in Musa Yahaya who has been ever present for the Porto side who are top of the second division with 41 points, four points more than second place Academica.

Croatia Defender, Corluka: Beating ‘Tricky Nigeria’ Will Boost Our Chances Of Reaching Russia 2018 2nd Round

Croatia and Locomotive Moscow defender, Vedran Corluka, believes that defeating Nigeria in their opening Group D game at the 2018 World Cup will boost their chances of qualifying for the next round of the tournament, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Croatia have failed to advance to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup competition in their last two appearances. Corluka, 31, a former Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur defender who is a major doubt for the tournament due to his leg injury, however, hopes Croatia’s fortunes will change for the bettee in Russia.

Croatia will face Nigeria in their first Group D game before taking on Argentina and Iceland. They will be bidding to reach the knockout stages of the tournament for the second time, after France 1998, in their fourth appearance at the World Cup.

“I would like to see the Croatian team pay attention to Nigeria because they are the first opponent in Russia, and it will be tough against the tricky team from Africa,” Corluka told sports.ru .

“Getting past Nigeria will be the toughest, but a win over Nigeria can give us a big boost before other games against Argentina and Iceland.

“Hopefully, Argentina can start well with a win and we can take it from there.

“We (Croatia) have a good and strong team for sure, and there are talents. We always say this before every major tournament, but in fact it does not always work out, so I hope that we will fulfill the task in Russia.”

You talk as if We have been beating these African countries silly.
Libya is grouped with us , can you stake your neck that the main team will collect all 6 points from the Libyans?
They better do, if not the knives will be out.
