download the upwork time tracker and ON the timer when you are about to start your client's project..
Or if you have already proceeded with the work, then you can add manual time.. But you still need to download the time tracker though.

Hello fam, been a while I made a post on this thread but I'd like to know your thoughts on something strange happening with my Upwork withdrawal. I initiated a Direct Debit withdrawal from my Upwork account a couple of days ago and sure enough, I received a Naira debit alert in my bank account within 15 minutes and went about my normal business. A few hours later, I received a notification from Upwork that the transaction had failed and the funds (Dollars) had been returned to my Upwork account less the $1 transaction fee. I logged into my transaction page and my account had truly been refunded. Funny thing was that the initial credit to my Bank account stayed untouched so in essence, I'd been credited locally and same funds have been returned to my account.
I contacted Upwork CC explaining what had happened and got a perfunctory response about it being a system error and that I should re-initiate another withdrawal for it to go through. I followed up with a more detailed explanation of what had happened and hours later I got a hands-in-the-air response about them being helpless in a situation the system tells them there's been an error. Apparently in situations like that, all they're obligated to do is to return the funds ($) to the original source which they've done. So here I am stuck with money that I shouldn't have and I'm not sure how to go about it. Anyone faced anything similar? Victor101, stagger, Kaycodes, anyone faced anything similar? Any advice?

In addition to the previous suggestions and advise make sure you keep a copy of your chat with Upwork customer support for future evidence that you reported the situation ( as a matter of fact have a screen shot of subsequent chat and conversations)..... and wait a little longer than weeks if you must touch the money although I do not subscribe to that.

Okay.

From what I gained on this thread, a Nigerian IP is a no-no, so I used a US IP. For this I used the zenmate extension. I also registered for a US number from TextNow using the US IP.

I had heard that changing your name on Upwork was a hellish experience so I didn't bother using a fake name. I used my real name and picture. However I took a professional looking passport photo using my phone.

For the skills section, I used Info from Upwork themselves to beat this. Upwork periodically released a information on the 20 most sought after skills on Upwork. I think it is a quarterly release. The most recent version is the Q4 2017 version.

All of them are IT related skills but my real intention was to write. Anyway I picked 10 of these skills. Example include AngularJS, ReactJS, Machine learning, Penetration testing, Natural language processing, MongoDB etc. I can't remember the rest.

For the profile description.

Using another browser, I searched for top Upwork profiles in some of the listed skills and studied their profile. This was what I used to make my profile.

I put in about 5 years experience. Starting shorting after I entered the University.

For my education, I searched top 10 schools in Computer Science. Picked one and filled it for education up to Masters level. I set it such that I graduated about 2 years ago. Mind you, B.SC is 3 years in America. Master's is like 1 or 1.5 years.

Amazinghope adviced me to take at least one test. so I took the English spelling test US. Had a perfect score. Upwork said I came first. I really doubt it. I heard the Upwork readiness test also helps too.

I didn't use any portfolio.

a not so similar situation had happened to me. After I'd withdrew the client requested a refund back and Upwork had to make a debit order, so as soon as I finish any work on the platform they (Upwork) deduct the money and refund the client.

My Advice: Leave the money there(on Upwork) for a while. I like the fact that you've already contacted Upwork support. Just leave the fund, say the next two-weeks to see how it goes. One thing I'm certain is if you withdraw the excess, Upwork will still get the fund back, if there's actually a system error that resulted in cash loss from their end.

Thanks, I'd resolved not to touch the funds also and see how it all plays out.
