Best decision PF ever made was to improve the tires size (pic 1 vs pic 2), it appears that mostly state government and NPF are fond of this proforce LAV, meanwhile the army and air force prefer the improved combat vehicle ? Pic 4 Pic 3, ARA MRAP and Cash in transit van production line. 3 Likes

tdayof:hahahahah this guy I am not against that deal per say, but i am not really fixed on the planes themselves just the armaments they come with and how cheap they are to operate compared to other aircrafts with similar COIN capabilities, NAF has done the maths trust me the savings in operational costs alone ! anyways what do i know, if you ask me i would say they forget about the deal all together and approach the chinese, purchase a large fleet of MALE UCAV to provide round the clock surveillance and CAS (if indeed there is such a thing as drones providing CAS ) Look at those hard points! 3 Likes

jakeporeshenko: No doubt about it, Super Tucano is one of the cheapest platforms to operate. CAS, border patrol and training. NAF should have gone directly to Brazil. As for weapons - gun, rockets (unguided and guided) would suffice for what you need them. No pilot is ever going to justify to his OC why he fired a GBU at a Toyota technical. Even with the integration costs for say guided rockets, still cheaper than the deal Nigeria wants with the US. |

frumentius:The NAF pilots are no longer under those type of restrictions. They are under orders to fire away. Nigeria needs the A29. They need the training, the infrastructure and the accompanying logistics that go with it. Looking for a cheaper option has been tried and has failed . Nigeria needs to go for sterner stuff to end this war. Nigeria also needs the most up to date version of the JF-17 currently the Block2 |

jakeporeshenko:this americans think that we have to kneel,so that they can sell us their weapons.if nigeria government tomorrow make a deal with the chinese, those UCAV's would be there by the next day.nigeria needs someone who can give them solution now,not 2020 our previous government negotiated with IMF/World bank to get a loan to build a highway for 10 year.after 10 years they were never given the loan, but with china it took them 3 months of negotiation and the project started |

frumentius:Ive asked myself the same question countless times, why cant NAF get these planes cheap from the original manufacturer and get SA denel or Israel Elbit systems to upgrade and do all necessary integration of smart weapons according to their needs. there has to be a reason man, something we don't know perhaps. by the way the 3 A29 aircrafts supposed to be transferred from the Brazilian air force to NAF never made it for some reason, even though they already appeared on SIPRI arms transfer database. 1 Like |

Xbee007:Please tell them small time when I tell them Nahim yapis go start.Dee Plane esh made in Brazil.. I beg make una dey look Engine naw Nah Pratt and Witney make una look OEM How Monkey go work wey dog go chop naw? Frum just because you wore the uniform temper it down when it come to procurement. Nigeria went the "Cheapskates" route fighting BH and the Former President selection was based on a CDS whose only qualification was he could save money. Nigeria does not need to save money They need to buy the most appropriate equipment at the right time..brand new G2-G2 We learnt painful lessons from buying second hand equipment that killed Soldiers and Pilots alike.(One is still missing in action) . For procurement buy quality equipment , Nigeria will have to wait. It is what Egypt , Algeria and even Angola does |

Xbee007:Not quite. Pratt and Whitney engine is Canadian. Are there US made components? Yes. Is this a barrier? Not necessarily. Only if you want to use US weapons, do the Yanks insist you buy Tucanos from the Florida factory. Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Angola, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Indonesia all bought directly from Brazil. |

tdayof: I'm afraid you're wrong. The NPF does not have the AK-103 in its inventory. The present standard issue rifles are the Chinese Type-56-2 or the original Bulgarian copies of the AK-47 with foldstocks. Elite units like CTU,SPU, and even some MOPOL units/squadrons are equipped with Israeli upgraded AK-47 rifles. But NO AK-103s. |

frumentius:Pratt and Whitney Canada is a division of Pratt and Whitney America which is also a subsidiary of United Technology. Even though Pratt and Whitney Canada conducts it's own research, Markets it's own products, they still answer to Pratt and Whitney America. I might be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that Super Mushak can be configured for COIN? |

NAF TRAINS PERSONNEL ON NEWLY ACQUIRED HIGH-TECH MEDICAL EQUIPMENT The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recently commenced a 5-day hands-on application and upgrading training for selected medical personnel as part of its capacity building efforts to ensure adequate maintenance and serviceability of newly acquired state-of-the-art medical facilities. The training, which would provide participants with the requisite expertise in the proper handling of the equipment to avoid incessant breakdown, ends today, 26 January 2018. The equipment include Digital X-ray Machines, Fluoroscope, Digitizer, Mammography, Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS), CT Scan Machine and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and are already in use in various NAF hospitals across the country. Participants, who were drawn from various NAF medical facilities across the country, comprise 9 Radiographers, 6 Biomedical Technicians and 2 Radiologists. The training is being conducted at 461 NAF Hospital, Kaduna by seasoned resource persons and facilitators in conjunction with in-house NAF specialists. At the end of the training, participants would have been adequately equipped with the technical know-how to handle various medical equipment on the NAF inventory. Already, 2 Biomedical engineers have completed their one-year mandatory training on high-tech in Lagos while another is currently on going. The idea behind the training is to ensure the durability of the very expensive NAF medical equipment, most of which were recently acquired. It is expected that this would further enhance the provision of adequate medical services in the NAF, as a way of sustaining the high morale of personnel and improving Civil-Military Relations in NAF host communities.
