[quote author=Ebullience post=64552385]THE National Chairman of Fulbe [Fulani] Development Association of Nigeria (FULDAN), Malam Ahmad Usman Bello, has declared the Fulani as too good to be beaten by any other ethnic groups in the country. In what appears to be an assertion of the supremacy of the Fulani ethnic group over all others in the country, he said his ethnic group remained unbeatable and any ethnic group that fights it would be doing so at its own peril. Bello made the remarks while speaking with Saturday Tribune in Kano on Thursday evening against the background of the national outcry against the murderous activities of Fulani herdsmen in Benue, Plateau and Taraba states and many other parts of the country. “Take it or not, Fulanis have remained unbeatable; no ethnic group can fight us face to face. Any ethnic group that fights us will learn a bitter lesson,” the leader of the apex Fulani association in the country said. He, however, said it was in the interest of the Fulani, which he described as “the largest ethnic group in Nigeria and, indeed, West Africa,” for all Nigerians to continue to live in peace and unity. According to him, should a civil war break out in the country, the Fulani would be the biggest losers because they have more people than any other ethnic groups in the country. “It is in our own interest that the country lives in peace [and for the country] to be united. If anything happens in Nigeria, we are the ones to lose because we have more people than any other ethnic groups. When you have more people, if any war occurred, certainly we Fulanis would have more dead people to record. And we are not beggars as we are equally blessed with wealth,” Bello said. In an apparent reference to the Benue State people, he stated that if the Fulanis wanted to take other people’s land, they could have done so in the past “when these people did not know how to wear clothes.” Tracing the origin of the Tiv, Bello said the progenitor of Tivs hailed from Katsina State and had married a Junkun woman who gave birth to those who are today referred to as the Tiv people. He declared the name of the father of the Fulani as Muhammad Katsina-Alla who, he said, had come to the present-day Benue and married a Junkun woman and fathered the Tiv. “If one follows the history of all peoples in the world, they migrated from somewhere. Take America for example, the Europeans migrated to America about 500 years ago. Can you then call them white American settlers? The Europeans also migrated to Australia and to South Africa with many years of struggle with the black majority to gain independence from them. Now, supposing they were majority, would you call them settlers? “I want Nigerians to understand that wherever Fulanis settle, they always mind their business. It is wrong to refer to them as settlers because those who call us Fulani settlers are the ones to be called settlers. “Igbos claim they descended from Jews but settled in Nigeria. Even Yorubas also claim they came from the Middle East, while Hausa people equally claim to have originated from Abyssinia, the modern Ethiopia,” Bello said. He claimed that while Yorubas are “asking for a country to be created for them and Igbos are using arms and ammunition to try to secede from Nigeria, Fulanis, in the various places they have dominated for centuries, have never asked to secede from the country.” He added: “Fulanis have never referred to any group as settlers but instead they have carved out places for non-indigenes to go about their normal businesses without harassment or intimidation. “Even in Kano, Sabongari was carved out for mostly non-Muslims resident in the state. Those that went for the Second World War, when they came back, in order not to contaminate those indigenes on ground, a place called Brigade was mapped out for them to reside. “We Fulanis welcome others but, unfortunately, Fulanis, despite being the largest ethnic group in Nigeria, in West Africa as a whole and perhaps even on the continent, we do not discriminate.” http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/buhari-signs-law-conferring-immunity-lawmakers/ Fulani cowards that can't even declare open jihad on Nigeria instead they are using the Fulaniherdsmen in disguise. Every reasonable person knows that u are all migrants into Nigeria that's why u pple are not comfortable with restructuring and even division of this country. 2 Likes |

Y0ruba: These people are really clowns. "Ti Sigidi ba fe te, a ani ki won gbe oun lo sodo lo we". I don't think these idiots know the stuff the yorubas are made of. Besides, they may not know that they are inadvertently digging their graves in Nigeria. When this country breaks up, as it sure will, a con-federation of southern nations and the middle belt plus the indegenous owners of the north may embark upon a systematic cleansing of immigrants on the land. 4 Likes |

BlakKluKluxKlan: The truth is that there is a FUTURISTIC war battle that is about to happen between the Children of IDRIS ALOOMA of Kanem Bornu empire as represented by Boko Haram and the Children of USMAN DAN FODIO represented by Fulani Herdsmen. The current crisis of Fulani Herdsmen is just to draw a line of defence before the main battle for the partitioning of the rich sahel region of the middle belt. So much is hidden from us, but every actions and moves has an historical background. |

ShootToKill: Interesting! And all those Delta-Igbo communities that had Enogies as their traditional rulers, were.... what? Vassal states of the Bini or their conquered territories? And what about Onitsha? Wasn't it established by a Benin prince? |

BlakKluKluxKlan: They’ve forgotten they the Fulani Hausa & Kanike [Kanuri] used to be slaves that tender to our lice stock and farm across Yoruba land till Afonja gave them a haven in Ilorin. They have a short menory ni & eran iya niwon. Yoruba have made examples out of them on numerous time from 19th century to the repraisal attack in Oke Ogun that brought their Oga Buhari down West but was sent back with boldfaced facts, pocket occurrences around Yoruba land & the recent Ife situation. They only need to force the hand of the Yoruba for eruku to be let loose from Lagos to Kwara South. The interesting part is, Yoruba will fight then with guns & pens. 1 Like |

laudate: Igbos mainly traded with the Binis, there WAS NO SUCCESSFUL CONQUEST of Igboland by Bini. It was just not possible. Asaba was founded by an Igbo Prince Chima who crossed the river, and Onitsha does not pay homage to Bini. The matrix of Igbo-Bini relationship in western Igbo land was oiled by trade. The word 'Midwest Igbos', 'Delta-Igbo' were invented before and after the civil war as political phrases. 'Delta' is not a Bini word. 3 Likes |

ShootToKill: Guy, there are Igbo communities in Delta state, that have Enogies as their traditional rulers. How come? Was it because of trade, that their traditional rulers adopted a Bini title, or were they vassal states of the Bini? Simple question. |

Stingman: Is it only in Mali? What about in Guinea and Senegal where the fulanis even claim to originate? The wolof and other tribes there do not allow them to smell power. They are heavily dominated there, but in Nigeria, the fullanis use religion (islam) to deceive and brainwash the Hausas and Yoruba muslims to gain their support. Only in Gambia do fulanis produce presidents aside Nigeria.. Infact they hardly do even in Niger republic. The Zarma people dominate them heavily over there. |

DerideGull: See bros, stop spreading lies here you hear? Igbos and Fulanis never came in contact with each other before the coming of the white man, and this was because the Fulanis themselves could not be able to defeat the Tivs, Wukari kingdom(Jukuns), Igalas, Idomas and Plateau people. They could hardly penetrate most parts of the eastern middlebelt areas and this is why you have christian majority populations in Taraba, Benue & Plateau. Save for Igalas and parts of Nasarawa who later accepted Islam through trade (that is why Igalas and Nasarawa muslims are not ruled by fulani emirs and they share no extremist islamic views). They have their ancestral traditional rulers. So stop repeating the false unfounded rubbish about fulanis encountering Igbos in battle. Or do you think all of us here are ignorant of history? For Gods sake, how could fulanis have reached Igbos without passing through Igala or Benue? Bia nwokem, kpachanya gi 4 Likes 1 Share |

Nowenuse: You are very correct. Fulanis only make noise in Nigeria. In other countries such as Mali, Guinea Bissau, Guinea where Fulani is a major tribe, Fulanis have little political power. In Guinea (where Futa Djallon Highlands is located), Fulanis are the majority tribe. However, Fulanis are usually careful during election there, because they can be physically beaten during elections. Fulanis have little political power in Guinea and all other countries. As you rightly mentioned, the Northern Muslims and Southwest Muslims are the people allowing Fulanis to hold on to political power in Nigeria. The Fulanis are able to do this by deceiving the Yoruba Muslims and some other Northern Muslims. If you observe very well, it seems Fulanis give respect to the Kanuris or they are afraid of the Kanuris in Nigeria. If not why can’t Fulanis herdsmen go to Sambissa forest to have grazing reserves. Fulanis bully other tribes only in Nigeria. |
