lalaboi:Not querying the efficacy of VAR. Just wondering how many start and stops the game can endure. It's looking more like an NFL contest than a game of soccer, and to be quite honest it's a bit odd. By the way, we are having a party on this thread tomorrow afternoon |

Nihilist:these are the type of wingers you don't need to spend 60M £ on. Yet you get good bargain for money, I am looking at nabil fekir , Leon bailey. These players can be Max 50M and they might do things for any team that signs them. |

The two have closed but strangely opposed destiny. One is an average player. The other was a top player. One made his career alone, following a pure university academic background. One had multiple mentors, from Cruyff to Bielsa, and even if he passed his diplomas, was clearly thinking out of the system. The two have an attraction with FC Barcelona. One was idolized there, the other ridiculize in the same place. Both were wonder managers as soon as they begin. But Mourinho always had more difficulties, while Guardiola walked the Royal way. At one point of his career, Mourinho made a fixation on Guardiola. It was like this man had everything he could have. Success, reputation, fame, and a throne in Barcelona. Everything he should have. Mourinho always wanted this place. He even accepted a place of an unofficial translator, to be in this Barcelona. The key moment was Inter-Barcelona. The fact Mourinho won in a ugly way would define what Mourinho would be. The antithesis of Guardiola. If Guardiola don't communicate, he will take the spotlight. If Guardiola is attack minded, he would be defend minded. If Guardiola said the sky is blue, he will say the sky is red. So when he was proposed Real Madrid, it was the opportunity. He will beat him, and prove to everyone who is worthy. I am here. I influence the football world. I am the manager definition. I am the future. I am the reference. Guardiola never mind him. Worse, he destroyed him. With a simple sentence: “You are the chief. You are the boss of this game. You won this”. In a simple statement, Guardiola killed Mourinho. He don't mind him. He let him do as he likes. But on the field. Not the same story. In those stories, or in my imagination, Mourinho want Guardiola to mind, to be affected by his mind games, by the speech he develop. It was the domain Mourinho excels. The one thing Guardiola don't have. And then, in one sentence, he killed it. You are good at it. Ok. But I don't care. I am not on your level. You could gesticulate, you could scream, cry, shout, I won't be here. You're nothing to me. Then reality strikes everyone. On the field, where it counts, Mourinho would never be at his level. One manita, multiple ridiculous display of violence, Mourinho was utterly defeated, and fall into ridiculous postures. While Guardiola gain a legend status in Barcelona, Mourinho was failing at Real Madrid. One was celebrate, the other hated. Even his own players would not support him. The strong point of Mourinho, his best asset, his absolute leadership on players, was long gone. At this point, Mourinho would fall. He won't be turned solely on football. We could almost hear it. “Why? Why should I keep going? Why I should continue?”. At Chelsea, he was the symbol of manager future. Charismatic, tactically very strong, classy, always making attention to his image, and what he represents. He weared luxury brands suits, beautiful coats, always nicely groomed. And we see him in Madrid, his eyes lost in horizon, wearing a track suit and a ridiculous oversize sweat shirt. He lost tracks of his goals. To this day, Mourinho is not the exceptional manager we used to see. It is like he don't really care. Some gestures, some sentences, some tactical decisions are like vague glimps of the manager he was. Like a symbol, he retuned to the place he created his legend. Like someone calling his ex after terrible experiences. But the heart is not there. His body could move by reflexes, it is a little dead inside. On the other side, Guardiola keep moving. Keep progressing. Keep innovating. Keep taking risks. He told Barcelona to change. They refused. So he quit. This place, Mourinho ultimate goal. He let it empty. Like an ultimate insult to Mourinho. But is it an insult if you don't consider someone? Does it count if you don't care? Anyway, Guardiola keep challenging himself, and this strange world of football. He learned a new language, and take the bet to transform the best institution in the world, Bayern Munich. While Mourinho stopped challenging, he saw his rival taking greater heights. At this moment, he stopped. He stopped this rivalry. But truth is, the rivalry was only in Mourinho’s head. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Rubb1sh! Every top & successful manager is Mourinho's rival. When he was at Porto, where was Guardiola, when he joined Chelsea, and snatched the limelight off Fergie, where was Guardiola...... Mourinho really doesn't care about one person, but everyone. Mourinho vs Fergie Mourinho vs Wenger Mourinho vs Conte Mourinho vs every top manager He tries to be the best and not to be someone better than another. Rubb1sh once again! I don't like him as such, but I respect him, he uses everything he has to ensure that he wins. 17 Likes 2 Shares |

nitrogen: How many times have you seen or heard Guardiola talk about Mourinho, now compare that to the number of times Mourinho talks about Guardiola. If your head to head is reading like 10 wins 4losses then where is the rivalry that looks more like domination 3 Likes 2 Shares |

raumdeuter: Mourinho talks about everyone. I don't get it, Guardiola's choice to shut up. The rule is so simple, there is freedom of speech, I talk about you, you decide to respond or shut up. Head to head? Does it matter? Let him go and win champions league with Porto and Inter Milan. 11 Likes |

nitrogen: When you dont see someone as your rival there is no need to talk about him, Thats how Guardiola sees Mourinho, He is inconsequential so Guardiola doesnt spare him any thought while Mourinho obsess about Guardiola daily Guardiola coaches Barca, Mourinho talks, Guardiola coaches Bayern, Mourinho talks, Guardiola coaches City Mourinho talks But Guardiola doesnt have any opinion about him rather he says “You are the chief. You are the boss of this game. You won this” Let Mourinho go win the CL in Barca/Madrid or lead Guardiola with 12points by January in the same league, same City 11 Likes 1 Share |

raumdeuter: See you, Guardiola doesn't talk about anybody, not just Mourinho. Meanwhile, Guardiola should go back and win a trophy (ordinary community shield) with Man City in his first season, and win the CL with his star-studded Bayern side. |
