Ur tribe is not relevant stop this futile attempt at promoting ur littleness!

we cant even see u so i have to keep highlighting so they can see u.
It is not? Damn! I was thinking the red mud enclave territory is way behind us considering how despotic and deprived your soil and majority of its people are and here you are saying Urhobo as a tribe isn't relevant. If your tribe isn't awfully inconsequential, I wonder whose is.

KimCutie, this is a typical example of intellectual laziness among Nigerian bloggers I was referring to.

The name 'Fikayo' is not a Yoruba name, and the pictures confirmed it. The lady is either Urhobo or Isoko, not Yoruba. A simple Google search would have confirmed it instead of rushing to post falsehood.

Lol. You are correct, actually. Fikayo is a short form of the Yoruba name 'Fikunayo-mi', meaning 'add to my joy'. However the name isn't complete without its prefix which is largely dependent on the faith, event or circumstances surrounding the birth of the family at the time the child was born.

An example of such name would be; 'Oluwafikunayomi' - 'The Lord has added to my joy'. The shortened form is often derived because 'Oluwafikunayomi' or 'Fikunayomi' is considered longer or more complicated in pronouncing everytime.

I used to have a classmate way back who went by the name 'Fikayo' and in some cases 'Fikun'. It's just about the same way I have an Ekiti friend who goes by the name 'Fikemi'.

Yes no doubt the name isn't edoid, just like someone saying mofe or damijo is an urhobo name just because RMD is urhobo.

If that's not the case then there's a problem because how can she be bearing Yoruba name and at the same time the tradition wears are Yoruba apart from the Igbo attire from the husband's side. the husband himself is wearing full Yoruba wear - If she's not yoruba then she doesn't have culture anymore because her culture is absolutely swallowed by Yoruba in both name and dressing.

lol.. nope you are totally wrong, in fact he is not related to itsekiri in anyway, he just adopted the name, he is urhobo from udu, his father worked with an itsekiri man , so they decided to bear the name.

This practice is common with both tribe anyway, have seen an urhobo man bearing muyiwa I.e oritsemuyiwa, funny enough they don't know how they got the name. Even with the way both tribe are interrelated they still fight / Dislike each other to some extent.

Funny.

For over 20 years since i knew him, i've always thought he was Itsekiri. Infact, anybody that has a Yoruboid name and is from Delta state, i always assume that they're from Itsekiri. Never knew he was Urhobo until now.

lol.. you need to learn more about Deltans, Urhobo still bear some igboid related names, especially those from Orogun axis.

Am even suspecting Oristefemi to be related to urhobo, his surname is majemite and it's also very popular in urhobo land .. the current LG chairman of Ethiope east LGA of Delta state also bears similar name. my classmate from eku also bears similar name.

I can't interpret the name thou, it has no edoid origin.
