Pep (Oga Ramd Beloved coach) is chasing Hazard (the so called one corner dancer) in a 150M £ deal. According to Ramd. All Man City wingers are better than Hazard yet He's beloved coach is making Hazard number one summer transfer target. This world self 3 Likes |

patrickmuf: When Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by Bayern Munich. The decision had mixed responses (my personal take is Ancelotti should have been given a stern ultimatum to turn things around), however I think it puts into perspective the “controversial” tenure of Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich (controversial solely because he failed to win the CL with them and managed to steamroll Bundesliga, making it look easy). Let me start off with this post on a Barcelona fanpage from Facebook: "Pep Guardiola got a treble winning team and didn't win a CL. Ancelotti is brought to do just that." People tend to forget that when Pep was announced as Bayern's next coach (January 2013), Bayern hadn't won the Bundesliga in the last 2 seasons and hadn't won the Champions League in 12 years. The Champions League before that was 25 years ago, in 1976. They then went on to win a treble, and people reduced Jupp Heynckes' time at Bayern as godly, when it was only the final months of the final season that Bayern won important trophies. The season before, they finished as runners ups in all three major tournaments. But I wouldn't reduce a coach's tenure to mere trophies. Trophies or no trophies in one season are a result of very small differences in variables. Too many 'what ifs'. Statistically dumb to infer important long term things from them. Bayern played wonderfully in 12-13, in relation to the Bayern style. Pep Guardiola then took Bayern to new heights in terms of football, offered Bavaria a type of football it hadn't seen before. Players left training sessions in headaches complaining in delight about all the new things they keep learning. German coaches went one over the other to meet and learn from Pep. A footballing revolution, that is also seen in the German NT. Germany played differently before Pep than what they do after him. Anyone who has watched Die Mannschaft for a significant amount of time, knows the structural differences. But Pep didn't win the Champions League. Pep didn't win the one trophy Bayern had won twice in 41 years. So he got slated. Ancelotti however was supposed to fix all that, because he doesn't focus on 'boring' football, but rather on winning. The Bayern dressing room fell apart, with players complaining to the board about the lack of knowledge and innovations of Ancelotti regarding the football and training sessions. Players complained to the board saying Ancelotti doesn't do much, and definitely nothing new or different. "It feels more like a Sunday warmup session, run 11 laps, kick the ball' That however, is Ancelotti. Bayern board were warned by Madrid and PSG's people that Ancelotti is known for not doing anything much. And it's a known fact for those who do not choose to be blinded by the glamour of the big Ancelotti, the one who lost two Liga Clasico's to TATA MARTINO, won ONE league with THAT Milan team. A coach who has won 4 league titles (one in France with PSG) during a 22 year managerial career with teams as AC Milan, PSG, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. 4 in 22. Carlo Ancelotti who LOST a league with money flooded PSG against Montpellier, a team whose star player was Olivier Giroud. Leagues have always been a more important measure of continued success than knock out tournaments, statistically. In leagues, you have to face every team twice, while in knock outs you're out with a loss in one round against a strong team while some other team probably goes through to the end without facing any major team. It's exciting, but statistically not the best measure. But let's not talk about trophies. Let's talk about football. There has been no footballing revolution or culture that Carlo Ancelotti has stemmed, created or left. He repeats some things from Sacchi and that's it. The current, running footballing scenarios pose too much attention on people who win than people who change the landscape, bring new things and make the game better. But history, history always remembers the ones who changed things. Herrera, Michels, Cruijff, Sacchi, Pep are admired for their trophies too, but more so for what they gave to football. How they changed the game into a more exciting one. Ancelotti has given nothing such. -KDP Now let’s come to Guardiola’s CL failures at Bayern. In that humiliating 4–0 loss to Real Madrid, it has been explicitly revealed by Philipp Lahm that the players themselves ditched Pep’s tactics. Its a total failure on his part to rein in his players then and worthy of criticizing (not the tactical angle however). In the 2014–15 semis against Barcelona, he went in missing some key players and gave a real fight to Barcelona (yes, he did. Don’t let that 3–0 scoreline in Camp Nou fool you. Before Messi went nuts, I thought that match was headed to a draw). In the 2015–16 CL, Bayern crushed Atletico tactically in the second leg (Pep’s first leg tactics were worthy of critique) and were sorely unlucky to miss out (I genuinely had thought that season Bayern would win the treble, Pep had built a machine). Only once could he be really blamed for screwing up the CL campaign. Beyond not winning the CL, I think Pep left a legacy in Germany. Julian Nagelsmann cites Guardiola as an inspiration along with Thomas Tuchel and Tuchel himself has hailed Guardiola (think Tuchel might have taken tactical lessons from Guardiola as well, though it hasn’t been stated explicitly). Jupp Heynckes also praised Guardiola (yes he did- Bayern Munich news: Heynckes hails Pep Guardiola after record title - Goal.com). German NT adapted Pep’s tactics and won the WC (Will England learn from Guardiola like Spain and Germany did? | Goal.com, The teams that Pep built: how Guardiola helped Spain & Germany win the World Cup - Goal.com) and Joachim Loew has praised Guardiola’s time in Germany (Loew says Guardiola left his mark on Bayern and Bundesliga). Guardiola didn’t win the Champions League for Bayern Munich, but it looks like he did have a positive effect on German football in general. It is foolish to deny a legacy acknowledged by a coach’s peers based on the one tournament they didn’t win. SAF won the CL twice in 20+ years, Ancelotti has also bottled some CL campaigns (Istanbul 2005 and Deportivo 2004). Even Jose Mourinho doesn’t win CL every year. But they are remembered for their victories. Think Guardiola is the only manager who gets all the stick for his failures but nothing to very little praise for his successes. PS- if your comment is the usual Guardiola destroyed Bayern etc, I won’t bother responding. 2 Likes |

Greatihex: I paraphrased because my memory is only semi-photographic. But the gist was essentially what I said there. Instead of looking for a link (which you can do yourself), look for the YouTube video of Wenger answering the questions posed at him. That interview was shortly before Wenger celebrated 1000 games in Arsenal and shortly before he lost 6-0 to Mou. Do your due diligence and see if you come up with Wenger insulting Mou. |
