recently got admitted into science laboratory technology in Uniben..the course is 5yrs + 1yr internship + 1yr nysc makes it 7yrs..and I'm currently 20..


what can I do with the course pls, what are my chances of getting a good job and where can a science laboratory technologist work?

they said we'll be given license be Nigeria lab science association to operate our labs upon our graduation..they also said we do induction just like mls, optometry and dentistry..

buh I'm not understanding atalll...

If it's possible for u to transfer to MLS after 100l please do so or to other professional courses ....

well slt is not really a bad course in nigeria, getting a job should not be a problem for u upon graduation but i can not say the same about the pay all in all transferring to mls might just be d best option u could get u can transfer after graduation, or after 100l or 200l or just take another jamb while in school the choice is really urs

And don't mind the "they said" cos that's how they deceive people. Yes you'd be given a licence and be inducted and the false sense of belonging starts (you will start thinking you are now MLS) and they in turn now your enemies.
Internship for one year is the falsehood from hell.
Maximum of 5 years you're through with SLT (4 years + 1 year NYSC)

Of course there are and will always be jobs

You should have researched about the course before choosing it in Jamb

course transfer is 100k in UNIBEN and it isn't even feasible that the transfer process would be successful even with a high cgpa

Hello dear. Don't allow anyone confuse or deceive you. I'm not here to persuade you to go ahead with SLT but to help you understand what it entails.
I'm a graduate of SLT(Biochemistry/Chemistry) from the University of Port Harcourt. SLT is 5years with one year NYSC. we are currently proposing 5years, 1 year Internship and 1year NYSC I don't know if Uniben has started that already. I did my one year NYSC at the Medical Laboratory of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. A colleague of mine did hers at the Chemical Pathology laboratory UBTH. We operated as Laboratory Technologist not Medical Laboratory Scientist.
You can work as a Laboratory Technologist/Scientist in laboratories that are into research and teaching. You can set up your private laboratory upon graduation, where you can do laboratory analysis related to any field Biochemistry and Chemistry for instance.
Please we are not MLS as they are found in Hospital laboratories. With SLT you have a wider scope. A colleague of mine is presently maximizing his license as he operates a Research laboratory in Port Harcourt where he does quite a no of analysis. There is a whole lot you can do upon graduation. Just study hard to graduate with a good grade. Thanks.
