BREAKING: Iheanacho asks to leave Leicester City -

.com Jan 29, 2018 1:00 PM

Iheanacho inspired by Okocha and Kanu for FA Cup form Kelechi Iheanacho has asked to leave Leicester City on loan before the end of the January transfer window in a bid to get regular playing time, with Newcastle United interesting in landing the Nigerian.
The 21-year old has only started two Premier League games for the Foxes since arriving for £25million from Manchester City in the summer, even though he has had more luck in the FA Cup, where he scored a brace at the weekend, making it nine goals in his last nine games in that competition.

Leicester boss Claude Puel is now ready to let the 21-year-old get some game time, and whilst there are clubs from around Europe clamouring for his signature, Newcastle are energing as a genuine contender for his signature, according to TeamTalk.

It remains to be seen if he will be allowed to leave, but he has been warned by the Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr he needs to move to play more regularly if he wants to make the squad to the World Cup.

NFF To Sign Sponsorship Deal With NB PLC
by Editor on January 29, 2018

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Nigerian Breweries PLC will on Feb 9 sign a sponsorship agreement in Lagos.

Ademola Olajire, Head of Communication of NFF, said in a statement on Monday that it would be a “ remarkable sponsorship agreement. ’’
It said that NFF President Amaju Pinnick was “ excited and fulfilled ” to seal the agreements with Nigerian Breweries PLC.

“ Nigerian Breweries is an organisation that has been a torchbearer of excellence and corporate social responsibility for the several decades it has operated in Nigeria, ” the statement added.
The Pamodzi Sports Marketing Company, a marketing agent for NFF confirmed that the initial contract is for a period of five years with an option for renewal.
The Chief Executive of the company, Mike Itemuagbor, said that such sponsorship deals are good for the development of football in Nigeria.

“This is a very good deal for the NFF and the National Teams. Nigerian Breweries PLC is committing a huge sum to this sponsorship agreement.
“ But the more important aspect is the activation of the contract, which the company has an unrivalled pedigree in doing and which it is committed to doing with this contract as well.
“ Pamodzi is happy to be the sponsorship agency to this worthy alliance.

“ Nigerian Football is on the upswing and Nigerian Breweries PLC remains a formidable establishment always looking to improve on the satisfaction it gives its customers while remaining committed to lofty corporate social responsibility initiatives,” he said.

And may the Grace needed to raise him as his father and parent be renewed daily for you because I recognise that parenthood is indeed the hardest Job on earth. Even harder than Brain Surgery.

And Big Congrats on making it across the Atlantic.... wink

I was a football fanatic as a kid... I used to go to my dad's car to listen to radio when Nigeria league teams were playing on the continent. Ofcourse, when NEPA did their thing.

Iwanyanwu Nationale, Bendel Insurance, Julius Berger, BCC Lions of Gboko, Abiola babes.. We used to have several teams sponsors by companies and individuals.

My first team was BCC Lions, then later on Julius Berger and Shooting Stars.

i remember the chant we used to taunt iwuanyanwu nationale then, o ma n ke bi ologbo uwuanyanwu, they are crying like a cat uwuanyanwu.....wicked twist on the club name.

Whatever happened to James Obiora. I recall how he twisted Roberto Carlos's blood in a Champions league game back in 02.
He came into the game with his side down 3:1, he scored to bring the score to 3:2, hit the bar thereafter. Was on his way to tie the game after dusting Roberto Carlos the second time, when the refree abruptly blew the final whistle, while he was about to pull the trigger.
At that point, I realised ojoro dey European football.
Thank you for this James Obiorah against Real Madrid na bomb turning their defenders to mediocre. Also James Obiorah against Jamaica in a friendly prior to France 98,this was a match Yekini said this boy is heir apparent of Okocha, the match ended 2 - 2 with goals from Yekini and Siasia.

Bolton Wanderers' Sammy Ameobi targets World Cup with Nigeria

     
SAMMY Ameobi has not given up hope of gate-crashing Nigeria’s World Cup squad.

The Wanderers winger pledged allegiance to the Super Eagles in 2014 despite previously representing England at Under-21s level.

Ameobi has been in good form since returning from a knee injury sustained in pre-season and has three goals from his 19 starts in the Championship.

Having previously played for Nigeria’s Under-20s in two friendlies in 2011, the 25-year-old would love to make the step up to senior level, emulating his brother Shola, who played at the 2014 World Cup finals.
Nigeria face Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in the group stages in Russia, and Ameobi hopes with regular football he is now getting at the Macron Stadium he may yet impress the international selectors and make his World Cup dream a reality.

“I want to solely represent Nigeria,” he said. “Hopefully that opportunity will come but it will only possibly happen if I play well on a weekly basis, which is what I am aiming to do here at Bolton Wanderers.
“With it being a World Cup year who knows what could happen?

“It would be great to be a part of that, but there’s a lot of hard work ahead for me if that’s even possible.
“It isn’t easy breaking into the international team. Shola did it and I can only hope to follow in his footsteps!”

Ideye: Why I Joined Malaga On Loan

Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has expressed his delight and relief after he completed a loan move from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda to Spanish LaLiga club Malaga on Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Speaking after he was certified fit by club doctors on Monday; the former Dynamo Kyiv striker said he is already looking forward to settle down to serious business at Malaga.

“I am happy and looking forward to it. I am looking forward to playing here at Malaga right from the first day I played against the club in a friendly match. I like it here and I am happy to be here,” Ideye told MalagaTV on Monday.

Tianjin Teda paid Olympiakos €12m to land Ideye in 2016 but has not featured the first team competition since last summer.

Amun Tips Home Eagles To Be “Too Hot” For Sudan, Backs Ezenwa For World Cup
By Richard Jideaka

Former Golden Eaglets coach Fanny Amun has expressed the optimism that the Super Eagles will peak in the semi-finals of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco and go ahead to clinch the trophy, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Nigerian side defeated Angola 2-1 after extra-time on Sunday to reach their second semi-final in three CHAN tournaments and they will face Sudan on Wednesday.

“The Eagles have not been at their best so far in the competition and have managed to reach the semifinals,” Amun, who led Nwankwo Kanu and other Eaglets to the FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Japan in 1993, told CSN.

“I believe they would be unstoppable when they play at their full potential. The Nigerian never-say-die spirit has taken the team to this stage, it is time to step it to next level.

“When these boys peak, hopefully in the semifinals, they will be too hot to handle. Their semi-final opponents Sudan are good but I don’t see them stopping the Super Eagles at this stage of the competition. I see the Eagles peaking ahead of reaching the final.”

He urged the coaches to work on the team’s shooting accuracy and ball holding against Sudan, adding that they would be punished if they do not take their chances against the very hardworking Sudanese team.

Amun added that goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa may have played himself into Nigeria’s World Cup-bound team to Russia with his CHAN heroics.

But Amun insists Ezenwa’s excellent performance so far at CHAN in Morocco does not mean the Eagles goalkeeping problem is sorted, adding that Vincent Enyeama’s experience is vital for the World Cup.

“Ezenwa has been improving with every game he plays for the Eagles and I must say based on this form, he should go to Russia but he needs to do more to be number one at the World Cup. The Eagles need an experienced goalkeeper and the only one available now is Enyeama,” the one-time Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation told CSN.

“I think a fully fit Enyeama will be a big plus for the Super Eagles in that he would either be number one or drive Ezenwa to bring out his best. He is doing well now but World Cup is a different thing entirely.”

Amun who assisted Adegboye Onigbinde at the 2002 Corld Cup said Ezenwa should continue to work hard, adding that he might still be number one if Enyeama fails to meet the fitness and form test.

Exclusive – Super Eagles Ace Etebo Joins Spanish La-Liga Side Las Palmas On Loan From CD Feirense

Oghenekaro Etebo has left his base in Portugal for Spain where he will sign the dotted lines for Spanish LaLiga side Las Palmas, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Las Palmas pipped Belgium side Genk to his signature of the 22 year old as the player preferred the Spanish LaLiga ahead of the league in Belgium.
The move to Las Palmas is imminent and it was the reason why he was omitted from the squad for Feirense ongoing game against Pacos de Ferreira in the Primeira Liga.
He is presently the top scorer of CD Feirense with four goals in 17 league games this season. A tally which would have been more if not for the defensive way his team are usually set up in games.

Widely expected to make the Nigerian squad to the World Cup, his immediate challenge will be to help Las Palmas pull out of the drop zone in the LaLiga where they are presently placed 19th on the 20 team table.

Unconfirmed reports has it that Las Palmas were also given the option of signing him permanently if they are able to beat the drop for a fee in the region of 8 to 10 million Euros.

Exclusive – Malaga Complete Loan Signing Of Watford Nigerian Star Isaac Success

Few hours after confirming the loan signing of Nigerian striker Brown Ideye, Spanish LaLiga side Malaga have also snap up Watford Nigerian forward Isaac Success on loan for the rest of the season.

The move is expected to be made official by tomorrow after a medical for the forward who has battled for form and fitness since joining the club in a big money move from Spanish side Granada.

Since joining Watford he has made just 19 league appearances and so far he is waiting for his first league appearance of the season despite the change of coach at the club.

At Malaga he will be hoping to get games which will help him build up his fitness and possibly recapture the form that made him one of the most coveted teenagers in Spanish football during
his two years stay with Granada.

A return to form and full fitness will also aid his chances of making the Nigerian team to the World Cup in Russia later in the year, with coach Gernot Rohr a big admirer of his style of play.

If he doesn't get a club and start getting playing time, his WC hopes (if he even harbors them) are over....

Honestly, I personally don't see Enyeama coming back and I don't want him to. But based on Rohr, well that is why I keep bringing up Enyeama. Seems he still harbor hopes of taking him to Russia.
I can go with Uzoho and Ezenwa and an Alampasu despite the few flaws the trio may show. Goalies grow from day to day. After all, Enyeama was 19 I think when he kept goal against England (even though it was an inconsequential tie) and he did so with the flaws he was yet to grow out of.
