My crate of day old broilers arrived last week Wednesday, on the 18th. They were already sprayed their first vaccine. I bought also Amoxy col WSP, neobro and sanctity energizer glucose as prescribed by the vet. They all looked healthy, except one who died later that day. Leaving me with 51 chicks.

They were two months yesterday. Their growth really surprised me. apart from the one that died in the beginning, no other one died. As a result of the bone meal they started taking early, their legs aren't bent. We noticed they're feaces were mixed with blood last week, the vet prescribed some antibiotics. They're okay now though. Sales already started


Thankyou all who followed this thread. I'm sorry for not updating frequently. By God's grace I expect their cage to be empty before the first week of January as I'll be ordering another crate for easter.

Saw Dust is that fine particle that is scrapped of wood in the saw mill..Fine particles like powder...Smooth and must not be used in Poultry production as the bird's are most likely to inhale this dust and develop Chronic Respiratory disease aka CRD..That's why people are advised to use wood shaving which this heavier and larger scrapes made in the saw mill...

Good job, but the water volume in the drinking trough is too much, if they don't finish it in one day, it might infect them, be putting like one-quarter of the drinker volume and monitor, once they finish it, wash the drinker and put in new water for them, better you do it twice a day then having that water last two days. Also remember to proportion any drugs you add to the water as appropriate. Hope they can all feed from those feeding trays? Good job in all.

Writing from experience...You may wanna elevate their feeders a bit because of problems that may arise from being overweight, because it simply makes them lazy... Having them stretch a little ensures that they mature rightly, with legs strong enough to carry their weight

a crate is 50. But while counting, the lady in charge gave me additional two making it 52.

@odingo1 I already made enough gain. Doing What you're suggesting will simply hinder their growth adding to the cost I'm trying to reduce. You get what you put in. Give them quality food and you'll be amazed@their growth. At two months they were already matured and ready for sale.


@wizzprince The bulb in the store created sufficient heat. During extremely cold weather, I used stove. About the medications, I'll get back to you when I find the chart I was given by the vet.
