okputu can only make the Russia world cup squad if our brother basco get to edit the list....

I am sure Marvellous Sir BascoVanVeli stands up for our local boys no matter what. I also commend their spirit and determination shown so far. They have exceeded expectations against the odds despite the many flaws in the team.

I know Sir Basco will be happy to see Okpotu get a look in even if just once but I also know that He is not carried away to suggest that Okpotu be picked ahead of a Musa or a Kayode for the World cup coz there is just no way we are dragging Ighalo and Nacho into the discussion of Okpotu's chances even. Nacho's and Ighalo's spots are no go areas ahead of Russia 2018 barring injuries.

Sir BascoVanVeli may be the undisputed champion of the local boys but he is not blind to the fact that Okpotu cannot displace Nacho, Ighalo, Kayode, Nwakaeme, and co.... Right now.

I believe I am right to think this.

5 Outstanding Home Eagles So Far At CHAN 2018

With the Home-based Super Eagles set to face Sudan in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU picks Nigeria’s top five players so far at the tournament…

IKECHUKWU EZENWA

The captain of the team was at his best in Nigeria’s 2-1 quarter-final victory over the Palancas Negras of Angola on Sunday. The Eagles should probably have been home now and not thinking of a date with Sudan in the last four if not for his bravery and heroics in goal.
Ezenwa has led by example in the competition even though he was largely tested prior to the Angolan game but he has been a good leader on and off the pitch.

STEPHEN EZE

The tall defender was axed in a couple of test games ahead of the African Nations Championship and that seems to have motivated him as he has worked very hard to become a mainstay in the team’s defence.
Eze, who will link up with Bulgarian club Locomotiv Plovdiv at the end of the competition won the man of the match in the game against Rwanda.

DAYO OJO

Dayo Ojo was dropped from the squad to the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda, but he has proved his worth with an impressive showing in Morocco.
The Sunshine Stars midfielder scored a screamer in Nigeria’s last group game against Equatorial Guinea and was duly named the man of the match.
He also did well in the quater-final clash against Angola, and he was one of Nigeria’s best performers in the game.

KALU ORJI

One of the four players in the team that were part of the squad to the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda. He has formed a formidable partnership with Stephen Eze at the heart of the team’s defence and was sorely missed after going off injured in Nigeria’s quarter-final game against Angola.

OSAS OKORO

The right-back has done his job well in the competition. Originally a right winger, the Enugu Rangers player is a willing runner who always supports the attack and performs his defensive tasks.

I think it is just him talking up the positives in Okpotu as a player and especially as one who has scored two vital goals in the CHAN so far. wink

He is right to show us that Okpotu is not as bad some of us may think... I personally don't think he is soooo poor ... But I think he is not just Main Super Eagles Quality... At least not yet...

I understand Sir BascoVanVeli's stand... He is not easily carried away with his love for our local league players.

Sir, no one is ever to old to learn. Okpotu and co cases won't be an exception.

These are simple football techniques. They can be taught and improved on.

We have seen cases where older players improve in certain aspect of their game. V. Moses is a winger turned wingback at 26. Mikel had poor shooting skills, even to the extent that he doesn't even dare to take one. But today he has improved.

Note: I am only calling for improvement and I'm sure that isn't much to ask for.

True talk Sir Royalty.... He thought his good results was enough vindication for him. You know, some of us are guilty of that mindset. The fact that you may be doing well to some extent at something does not automatically make you right in all spheres. One must stay humble to work on his character because it is indeed Character and Attitude that separates The Good from The Great.

He is brilliant tactical mind but his man management skills need serious work. I hope he can be better in the end. He is still so young in the coaching business.

You want to solely represent Nigeria? Who can you even "solely" displace from the team?
Sir,it seems this boy has offended you and humility17 before cos as a Nigerian he has every right to aspire to play for Eagles,so I don't see anything wrong in his comment.

I thought the young man pledged his allegiance to Nigeria sometimes ago and was even in U20 camps during English league break and played two friendly matches,so let encourage our FBs who are willing to represent us,truly he can't even make the team but good to hear that is willing if invitation is extended to him.

Rohr ‘Impatient And Excited’ Ahead Russia 2018, Eager To Impress With Super Eagles

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, says he can’t wait for the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia even as he hopes to lead the team to a respectable outing at the mundial, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

Rohr will handle a national team for the first time at the World Cup after masterminding the Super Eagles’ qualification for the mundial in a tough group which has”d African heavyweights, Cameroon, Algeria and onetime African champions, Zambia

“Yes, I’m impatient and a little excited too, we’re proud to have been the first Africans to qualify for the World Cup,” the German stated in a chat with French online news medium, tf1.fr .

“Now we have to make a good result at this World Cup.

“We have some hope of a good result in our first match against Croatia.”

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group D with Croatia, Iceland and Argentina.

The three-time African champions will face Croatia in their first group game at the Kaliningrad Stadium on June 16.

Their second game is against Iceland at the Volgograd Arena on June 22, while they will take on Argentina in their last group game on June 26 at the Krestovsky Stadium, St Petersburg.

Diouf: Super Eagles Have The Quality To Do Africa Proud At Russia 2018

By Adeboye Amosu in Kano: Former Senegal forward, El Hadji Diouf, believes the Super Eagles possess the quality to have a memorable outing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Three-time African champions, Nigeria, who will be making their sixth appearance at the mundial, are among the five African countries that made it to the Russia 2018.
They have been drawn in Group D, along with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.

Gernot Rohr’s charges have some exciting talents in their rank, with the likes of Chelsea’s Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo, and Wilfred Ndidi expected to make a big impact for team at the global soccer fiesta

“Nigeria have a top quality team, and I see them doing well in Russia. There is Victor Moses at Chelsea, Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and lots of other exciting talents in the team,” Diouf, a former Liverpool star told Completesportsnigeria.com in Kano where he featured for African Legends team against Kano Pillars in a charity fundraiser match.

“If they play to their potentials and pay attention to details they will have a good time in Russia.

“They did great in the qualifiers and to qualify without problem from a group that has Cameroon and Algeria it is not a small feat.

” Personally, I look forward to seeing the Super Eagles play in Russia, same for other African countries too.”

The Super Eagles will face Croatia on June 16 at the Kaliningrad Stadium in their opening game of Russia 2018.

Their second group game is against Iceland on June 22 at the Volgograd Arena, while their last group fixture is against Argentina at the Krestovsky Stadium, St.Petersburg.
