The question should be, "Can the Yorubas survive without Nigeria?"

Yorubas will survive definitely.. We currently contribute over 60% of the total IGR in the country.
Oil rich SS and the rest contributes 30% with SE contributing less than 6%.

Keni Adeosun recently revealed that 80% of tax revenues come from SW especially Lagos. So imagine such huge money circulating within SW alone.

In my honest opinion, SS will survive but will remain poor due to the unintelligent people there who believe in militancy and taking up arms at the slightest provocation. An ex-militant was made king recently.

The SE won't survive beyond 5 years. They only take from Nigeria without contributing anything.
They have the least IGR, least tax revenue, least everything. And they are so landlocked.no jobs, no roads, no infrastructures, nothing.
I wonder how they will move their goods through sea.

The minorities won't even live to tell the story. The ones I feel for most.

It is something that is alive and living that you use the word "survive" for. The term "Nigeria" is just what it is, a mere term. Its structure and composition is a scam in itself. So, for you to ask if Nigeria can survive without a particular ethnic group, you are not only being weirdly funny, but ignorantly mischievous. These are the questions you should rather seek answers to:

1. Can Nigeria's so called leaders survive without corruption?

2. Can governors survive if Nigeria becomes "oiless" tomorrow?

3. Can we ever escape the culture of getting it worse with each successive government voted in?

4. Can any president perform well under the present structure?

Of course the oil will remain with nigeria but the continuous reliance on SW for supply of essential goods n services will make nigeria more or less dependent on SW....

MBA! When Nigeria became independent the north and igbo formed an alliance. Yoruba
played opposition and prospered more than other two regions. The record is there. First in everything civilization can offer not only in Nigeria but all over Africa.

The only time Yoruba will join mainstream national government is now with a view of attaining true federalism. The northern ally will not want such now because of its parasitic nature.

The easterners betrayed their ally wanted to outsmart northerners by plotting first two coups using ' Igbo sense ' but failed.
This led to war thereafter.Igbos were checkmated, (they love to blame their defeat on Awolowo for this) Yoruba arbitration put an end to the feud between two political friends.

Now by commerce Yorubaland is a bride to court. 80% of Nigerian trade happens in SW. The trade of Igbo, the agriculture produce of north find their consumers mainly in SW..


Education has put the west ahead. What north and south consider traditions are gradually eroding away in SW. In fact, without these other tribes and the problems Yorubaland would be far better. The illiteracy of the north that has taken them backward; the dishonesty and greed of Igbo people soil their good technological development. If Nigeria disintegrate today, the other regions will be theaters of war. North for supremacy of faith; SS and SE for oil , politics, and leadership. Commerce with SW will have to be negotiated.

The solution to Nigerians problems is in the hand of Yorubas, remember Idiagbon and Obasanjo reigns are there any comparison with GEJ and any northerners both in democracy and military?

Yoruba is superior to any other tribe in Nigeria and will always be needed. GEJ was warned against disparaging Yoruba race, he didn't heed, he met his waterloo. Abacha and IBB in their satanic and maradonic majesty will not forget Yorubas.

Igbos will always play unreasonable rivalry, but the correct knowledge, brain and moral strength are not there.


So Yorubas will always be relevant and ahead whether as a part or a separate entity.
