Ideye Hails Home Eagles For Reaching CHAN 2018 Final, Thumbs Up Ajiboye’s Showing Vs Sudan By James Agberebi Nigeria striker, Brown Ideye, has congratulated the home-based Super Eagles following their qualification for the final of the 2018 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Wednesday in Marrakech, Morocco, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports. A 17th minute strike by Gabriel Okechukwu, secured a 1-0 win for the Eagles against Sudan and a first-ever final berth in CHAN. Both teams had a player sent off – Ifeanyi Ifeanyi received a second yellow card for a dangerous tackle, while Sudan’s Bachir Bakri was shown a straight red card for tripping Dayo Ojo who was goal bound. The Eagles will face hosts Morocco in the final on Sunday in Casablanca. Morocco also qualified for their first-ever CHAN final after defeating Libya 3-1 in extra-time also on Wednesday. Reacting to the Eagles qualification for the final, Ideye who recently joined Spanish LaLiga outfit, Malaga, hailed Home Eagles’ goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye for an outstanding performance after replacing the injured Ikechukwu Ezenwa. “Waoh!!! Ajiboye! Congratulations guys. #TotalCHAN2018,” Ideye wrote on his verified Twitter handle. Yusuf: Home Eagles Defeated Tough Sudan, Morocco Also Beatable By Johnny Edward Home-based Super Eagles head coach, Salisu Yusuf, believes that CHAN 2018 host nation, Morocco, are beatable if his team “do the right things” when they clash in the final on Sunday at the Mohammed V Stadium, Casablanca, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports. Morocco beat fellow north Africans, Libya 3-1 in extra time on Wednesday evening to set up a feisty encounter against Nigeria. Jamal Sellami’s side has scored 12 goals and conceded two in five games so far. Yusuf on his part made history guiding Nigeria to their first ever final at the tournament defeating Sudan 1-0 in the semi-final with Akwa United’s Gabriel Okechukwu scoring the only goal of the game in the 17th minute. The former Kano Pillars coach admitted that the Sudanese side were a tough nut to crack as they pushed his team beyond limits. Okechukwu Gabriel of Nigeria challenged by Omer Suliman Koko of Sudan during the 2018 CHAN semifinals football game between Sudan and Nigeria at the Grand stade Marrakech in Marrakech, Morocco on 31 January 2017 ©Samuel Shivambu/BackpagePix “It was really hard for both sides. They (Sudan) pushed us to the wall especially after the red card,” Yusuf said during his post-match interview. “We tried to go on the counter-attack and make the defence compact defence so as not to give spaces for them at the back. “They had some good moments, but we defeated them in the end. “For the game against Morocco, every team is beatable. If we do the right things, why not! We can beat Morocco.” Source: https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/yusuf-home-eagles-defeated-tough-sudan-morocco-also-beatable/ Russia 2018 WC Countdown: 133 days to go 1 Like |

Unlucky Nigeria Duo Hit Woodwork Three Times In Leicester City's Loss To Everton Published: February 01, 2018 Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi was awarded a relatively low mark after a mixed fortune performance against Everton in their Premier League clash on Wednesday evening. The 21-year old who made his 25th league appearance for the Foxes at Goodison Park rattled the crossbar with a decent header ten minutes into the game but failed to build on his early promises as the game wore on though he was on hand to force a penalty from Wayne Rooney which allowed Claude Puel's side to pull one of the goals back. Leicester Mecury's Rob Tarner described his performance on the night as below par from what he has been churning out for the Foxes this season. "Hit the bar early on but not as effective on the ball as in recent weeks", Tarner wrote on Leicester Mercury. His compatriot, Kelechi Iheanacho who replaced Demarai Gray 15 minutes from time was equally less lucky as he hit the woodwork twice after coming on. The six points out of ten he got alongside most of his teammates the likes of Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton, Shinji Okazaki and Harry Maguire was one of the least he has garnered this campaign. Leicester would welcome Swansea to the King Power Stadium on Saturday when they would be looking to bounce back to winning ways. Yomiwayne80: His Argerian brothers are also angry in the same valume. They have turned Leicester City facebook page to a battle ground where they Curse the team , bash the team and rejoice to the team loss. The Leicester City facebook page may have thought that they have Leicester City fans from Argeria, they have just realised they actually have Mahrez fans. 4 Likes |

The last night's game was our best IMO. Salisu finally seemed to have found a more befitting role for the misfiring Okpotu who does not have the qualities of a natural finisher. Ajiboye has staged a claim to a place in the party to Russia. He knew that was the chance and he grabbed it with both hands. Ezenwa and Ajiboye have both proven that they are hands we can rely on. But.....not to pour ice water on our excitement, we played Angola and Sudan. And the CHAN is not even up to the AFCON standard let a lone the WC (Food for thought). But all the same kudos to both goalies. They have done us proud. And kudos to the entire team for reaching the final. Morocco will definitely be a tough nut, but they are crackable. 5 Likes |

@ TheSuperNerd you raised a question about Echiejile. I believe in the role experience can play in the defense especially the experience of playing together with other defenders in the team, but, I know where to draw the line between experience and ability. One LB I know that is miles ahead of Echiejile is Brian Idowu. I don't know how many LBs Rohr plans taking to Russia but if it is one then Idowu it is. But if he opts for 2 LBs he will have to decide on who to drop between Echiejile and Aina and that would be after assessing them in the proposed friendlies. 5 Likes 1 Share |
