Emenike Joins Etebo At Las Palmas On Six-Month Loan From Olympiacos

Nigerian striker, Emmanuel Emenike, is joining Spanish LaLiga Santander side, UD Las Palmas, on a six-month loan deal from Greek side, Olympiacos, the Spanish club has announced on their official website.

The 30 year old striker who has been frozen out of the Olympiacos first team, will become the second Nigerian player at Las Palmas after the club completed the signing of Oghenekaro Etebo on a loan deal as well, from CD Feirense on Wednesday.

Emenike is also the fourth Nigerian to move to the Spanish LaLiga Santander during the January transfer window after Brown Ideye and Isaac Success both joined Malaga from Tianjin TEDA and Watford respectively.

The former Fenerbahce and Spartak Moscow striker is expected to arrive the club later today (Thursday) at 5.05pm and will undergo a medical on Friday by 12:30 before his presentation to the club’s fans at the Gran Canaria Stadium.

“The arrival of the player (Emenike) is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, at 05.05pm, on a flight from Madrid. He will undergo medical examination on Friday in the first hour, and around 12.30. will be presented in the press room of the Gran Canaria Stadium,” a statement on Las Palmas’s website reads.

Emenike who was a key member of Nigeria’s 2013 African Nations Cup winning squad and the 2014 World Cup squad, hs featured for Karabukspor, Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates) and Wes Ham United.

Trabzonspor midfielder, Onazi Ogenyi, has tasked Super Eagles to go all out for the CHAN trophy as Nigeria attempt to become the winner of the fifth edition of the competition, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
DR Congo have won the CHAN tournament twice – the maiden in 2009 hosted by Cote d’Ivoire and the 2016 edition in Rwanda. Tunisia won the 2011 edition in Sudan, while Libya won the 2014 edition in South Africa.

In an exclusive chat with CSN , Onazi lauded the home-bases Super Eagles’ resilient showings against Angola and Sudan in the quarter-finals and semi-finala respectively, and charged the players to approach the final clash against Morocco with self-belief and hard work.

“I want to congratulate the team for their feat in the competition so far. We’re very proud of them, having qualified for the final of the competition,” Onazi told CSN .

“There is one more hurdle to cross and that is beating the host country Morocco.

Dutch Eredivisie (first division) club, ADO Den Haag, has expressed their delight and relief at retaining the services of Super Eagles defender, Tyrone Ebuehi and Nasser El Khayat despite the reported interest of other clubs to sign them during the January transfer window, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (
CSN).

Omroepwest.nl reported that the officials of the Hague-based club are pleased that they have retain their full squad after Tyronne’s proposed move to Benfica hit the rocks.

Ebuehi has impressed so well in the colours of ADO this season and was ranked among the top five right-backs plying their trades in the Dutch Eredivisie in a poll conducted last December.

Ebuehi’s attacking style of football caught the attention of Anderlecht, Olympiakos, Benfica and Norwich City, but it was Benfica that showed serious intent. The Portuguese giants failed to reach a deal with ADO to move the Super Eagles right-full back away from Holland.

Benfica are expected to return in the summer for the young Nigerian whose contract at ADO Den Haag expires at the end of the season.

The 21 year-old impressed in his cameo appearance for Nigeria in an international friendly match against La Albiceleste of Argentina and has set his sights on making the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

After opting to represent his fatherland, the former Netherlands youth international made his debut for the Super Eagles in a 3-0 win over Togo on June 1st 2016. How many of these will start in the Bundesliga?

Uduokhai starts every week in the Bundesliga when fit. The only reason you will not start him is that he is new to the team but based on just quality, he will start comfortably.

I thought it was reported that Benfica had signed him but only left him with Ado Den Haag to finish up the season- more like a buy and loan back immediately clause. So nothing's been fixed in stone yet then? Till the summer then.... no wonder we didn't see official statements from Benfica saying they have officially signed him

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi and Chelsea star, Victor Moses, are some of the regular players that have been ruled out of the international friendly match between Nigeria DR Congo slated for May 28 and in either Abuja or Uyo.

The national team is expected to bid the country farewell before they depart for the 2018 World Cup with top government functionaries including President Muhammadu Buhari expected to be present at the venue.

However, sources in the Nigeria Football Federation has told our correspondent that regular players in the Super Eagles starting line might not feature in the game.

The sources said the Manager of the national team Gernot Rohr wanted to use the friendly match to test some of the fringe players in the squad.

The source said that Rohr was drawing up a list of 35 players that would prosecute the six friendly matches ahead of the World Cup from which 23 would make the final cut for the Mundial.

“Mikel, Moses, Odion Ighalo and some other big players may not be part of the match against DR Congo. These players are not expected to feature in the first phase of camping which is going to be in either Abuja or Uyo. Home based stars and some other fringe players from Europe are going to prosecute the friendly that is organised for the team to bid the country farewell ahead of the World Cup.

“Rohr is compiling a list of 35 players with those who prosecuted the World Cup qualifiers expected to dominate it. The final list of 23 is expected to come out on June 4 about two days after the friendly match against England,” the source said.

The source added that a few players from the Nigeria’s squad to the ongoing African Nations Championship in Morocco would be part of the 35-man list.

“Captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and about four other players from CHAN team will be in the 35-man list, that I can say authoritatively,” the source said.

Uduokhai himself said that he has been approached by Nigeria and that he is open to it. Rohr also said that a german youth international has agreed to play for Nigeria.. In the coming months, things will become clearer.

I don't think is the issue of following money to EPL,sometimes things just don't work out for some players,not only Musa cos we have seen players coming to EPL and had it tough.

The particular skills set required for the EPL has seen many top flight players flop. It's not unique to Musa in all honesty I had my doubts even before he arrived.

In the case of Musa, I am tilting towards money as the influencer. He was doing so great in the Russian league and also making UCL almost every season playing against the best in Europe. Anyways now that he's going back there, he should please enjoy football once more.

Uduokhai is not average. One of the most highly rated young CBs in Germany. A 20 year old CB that is a regular in the Bundesliga.

How many Nigerian players will make the german team? That team has the strongest depth in the world. It is no shame not making the german especially for a 20 year old. Uduokhai will be a massive coup for Nigeria not only for what he can do now but his potential.

The coach felt these guys could improve our national team and they can.

Ekong, Balogun, Ikeme, Ebuehi etc have all improved our team.

Echiejile Joins Second-Tier Belgian Club Cercle Brugge

Nigerian international left-back Elderson Echiejile has joined Belgian First Division B (second-tier) club Cercle Brugge until the end of the season after he cancelled his contract with Turkish Sivasspor Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.

Cercle Brugge are owned by French side giants AS Monaco, the parent club of Echiejile.

Super Eagles regular Echiejile joined Sivasspor on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco last summer but hardly featured for the team, making 10 appearances in all competitions (seven Turkish league games and three Turkish Cup games) in the first half of the season.

Echiejile has undergone a successful medical at Cercle Brugge and will be unveiled before the Belgian transfer window closes on Wednesday night, CSN gathered.

Cercle Brugge currently lead the Belgian First Division B second stage with 23 points from 10 games.

The 30-year-old defender had already played in Belgium in the 2016 season, when he was on loan from AS Monaco to Standard Liege.

That's not progression.

He starts because that's his country and his clubside. Someone said he only played 17 times in 2017 so how does that translate to week in and out?

Lastly, if his club doesn't have a better replacement, they have no choice but to keep using what they have. So that doesn't buy the argument of being a world class prospect.
