Nice work.
But it is not clear as to the placement of some of your columns outside some joint sections?
It also appears you're using Y12 as columns, if so, what's your reason?

Vibrated blocks are best of course. But it still has to be the correct mixture. Some of our local blockmakers use too little cement in their mixture.

I did not make any of the 8,000 or so blocks that I used so far on my project. I instead ask for specific blocks to be made for me. I add N5 or so to the price per block and I usually give the employees money when they are making my blocks. None of this is a guarantee.

On future projects, I will be buying a used vibration machine and make my own blocks then sell off the machine afterward.

Just an idea from one person, let others give you their own opinion.

Good luck on your project.
Thanks so much for ur response i think d only disadvantage with vibrated block is d fact that those block indulsries dont use adequate propotion of cement cos of dia gains but dia blocks are neater and d vibration is also an advantage but i donno if the risk is worth taking

There is no such thing as risk taking if you intend to hand mould your blocks.
Just use the right mix of materials, produce the right number of blocks per bag of cement and water your blocks afterwards.

Oga use hand mould blocks if u can't afford to rent the machine for personal use to be sure of d cement mix ratio
Vibration is good, but not as important as the mix ratio.
Vibrating blocks of 70 blocks per bag of cement will never be as solid as 30 blocks per bag of cement hand mould blocks.

Using vibrated blocks is not a guarantee that you get the best blocks.........

Even hand molding your blocks is not even a guarantee that your blocks will pass the quality test.

Sir What is the best pratice for achieving quality assured blocks?

Sir What is the best pratice for achieving quality assured blocks?

1. Choosing the best of sand, cement, and water
2. Ensuring a very level ground for placing the blocks
3. The mix is the most important aspect of block making. Even if you make only 20 blocks per bag and the mix is poor, the blocks will still be as brittle as biscuits.
4. Supervision. Someone must be present to see that workers don't remove some cement and then manage the rest to achieve a predetermined number.

Here’s what I did to save money.

I approached a local block maker at the beginning of my project and struck up a friendship.

I promise him that ill buy all my blocks from him and I did.

Anyways, due to this I am able to buy materials through him at his cost. Cement, sharp sand, etc except granite. For granite, at the later end of my project I went to the quarry and did the same thing with one person.

I’m building my house in parallel with another friend and I know the extent of the savings I had.

It’ll vary greatly based on quality and country of origin.

Don’t overlook Nigerian tiles. Some of them are good and are lower cost.

Durability has been argued.

Hello house? Have learnt a great deal here in the course of my build, want to ask if anyone has an idea the cost of screeding a 5bed duplex, total measurement for interior and exterior Is about 1824sqm. My builder gave me a ridiculous quote for this job. Thanks in anticipation

Wow, Egungun himself, nice, brilliant and fantabulous finishing, you are not an apprentice workman, you are now a contractor / Engineer in training, you better start bidding for construction jobs in Abuja, ibadan and Banana island cheesy

Thanks Dude but the appreciation goes to the site workers who toiled. I'm always amazed as to what the Nigerian artisans can accomplish with their limited and sometimes rudimentary tools. It's not perfect and not even near the standards that I'm used to in the USA. I will improve on stuff as I start working on the main house. It's a learning process.

I also thank all the professionals who share their works with us on here. I'll always be thankful to Skimanski for sharing in detail his burglary designs. He could have told me that he can sell it to me or even to shove off and not be a corporate beggar cheesy

I really wish that new guys can go to the beginning of this thread to read and also to follow Spyder880, Skimanski, RichYoungRuler, etc to read their commentary and view what is possible.

Pics are part of the collection that I'll be framing and dispalying to elebrate the site.

Unfortunately, it seems that my tile receipts were left in Ibadan.

There's a tile seller here amongst us. I'm sure he'll chime in soon. The toilet set is also made in Nigeria by http://www.cdkindustriesng.com alas, the receipt is also in Ibadan. It was a splurge I remember but a nice looking splurge. Once I saw it then there was no way I wasn't going to buy it.
