Kog45: It depends on where you joined the conversation. I've noticed a trend here that on mentioning a foreign born, the first question they ask you is 'Is he World Class?' 'He's overhyped, and he's just another average player' as if we have a World Class Squad. I was merely trying to open people's eyes to their faulty stand and their annoying double standards when it comes to FBs. I'm not including you among them. 2 Likes |

On Ighalo, here is my PERSONAL view with some stat. ODION IGHALO is not yet a Sure Starter in the GWG. Dude gets lot of competitions. The notion that he is the First Choice Striker is pure Fallacy. Under Rohr, Ighalo only made the bench ONCE in Rohr's first 5-6 games. Kelechi and Ideye(he led once alongside KI against Zamb) were the ones leading Eagles attack. Kelechi went on to score in 4 of those matches. Odion was recalled after the defeat to SA to re-inforce the attack and he scored against Cameroon in the 4-0 win going on to feature in two more games ending with the 1-0 win against Zambia in Uyo without scoring. *3matches 1goal* He started those games because of Kelechi's loss in form. The truth of the matter is that Dude will have to FIGHT to get back to the starting 11 and If KI hits and continues in his top form. I see the fight becoming fiercer. Note: Don't forget Nacho brings another skill set into the team-HIS FREEKICKs and that will always be a plus for a team who lacks specialist in dead ball kicks and that alone can give him d edge over Odion. I don't have anything against any player but the truth I must say. Though it might be too hard to swallow. O PARI! 10 Likes 1 Share |

somehow: He can replace Balogun or Ekong if needed. Eye for a pass, confident, good on his feet and fast. Better on the ball than Ekong, faster than Balogun. Balogun needs to start playing regularly to be in good shape. 6 Likes |

yea we know Balogun is currently not fit. I have watched this GUY play against our youth team before or is it not that same guy? i haven't really watched him of recent so i can't say if he's that "good" on the ball and faster. Remember African football is way different from European football, if and when he wears the GWG shirt, he might come out different from how you see him at his club. our current players (some) perform well in their various clubs but struggle while in the GWG while vice versa is to some. tbaba1234: |

somehow: We are not playing African teams in the WC. The only reason, i will maintain the Ekong-Balogun partnership is because they have built it for a while... Otherwise, on sheer ability alone, he can easily fit in. 4 Likes |

SerVik: Can I add to what you say, professionalism, clear cut due process, proactive quality management and organisation. I have probably spoken to every British born ex Nigerian international at one time or another. The NFF Management and organisation was in times past chaotic and haphazard there have been improvements but there is a lot more to be done. Unfortunately, our predominant preferred style of management is charismatic led not policy and process. This creates a number of problems including player recruitment and selection amongst so many issues. I will not open the can of worms in a public forum with regards to financial impropriety. If these issues are solved, then getting players to select Nigeria will be a first preference among many players of Nigerian origin. 1 Like 1 Share |

I dont get the talk of some folks here.... I have unequivocally stated before that we don't have a world class team and we only have two world class players in Mikel Obi and Victor Moses. The rest are not world class. Some of them can be so within a few more years or even one or two may join that club within a year more. Having said this, I disagree that the team is filled with below average players. We have a mix of quality above average players, young players with top quality and world class potentials and then a couple of "little above average" players and two world class performers (Mikel and VicMo). We are where we are today and we ARE NOT WORLD CLASS. But the team is young and daring. Give them time. The young super talented ones like Iwobi, Iheanacho, Ndidi, Ebuehi, Aina, Onyekuru, Awaziem, etc are still growing and evolving. This team beat World class Argentina complete with the exception of Messi and Romero. They also beat a Cameroun who conquered the rest of Africa beating Senegal, Ghana and Egypt along the way!!! Come on! Please give them time. We are not world class but we certainly aren't filled with below average players. I mean this is the truth Now, because we know we are not world class just yet, we must keep looking to improve our team and Felix Uduokhai is just one of the couple of FB talents who can add real quality to our team in our quest to reach levels near world class even before hitting the world class mark itself. Please, when a FB name is dropped and mentioned, do well to not use the silly "let him break into his foreign country's national team first before we consider him" mentality. IT IS REALLY A POOR WAY TO APPROACH THE DISCUSSION. FOCUS ON THE TALENT. FOCUS ON WHETHER THERE IS QUALITY IN THAT FB PLAYER. THAT SHOULD BE OUR FOCUS. Look, we need reinforcements in the Super Eagles. We need to explore all of our quality options be it foreign born or not.... We are still building a team and we all want a team that can be world class. So biko let us have that in mind when FB player discussions are brought up. We all want a team filled with Awesomeness from all sides.... You think I was kidding when I mentioned Team Awesome when Ajiboye was producing fine magic against Sudan. Look. This is what we want... "An awesome team"... And if Uduokhai and his likes willtake us to such level then why not consider them in our discussions? Look, I know we have a world cup which is months away and don't have much time for bringing in all known quality FBs. But for the long term future, we must have them in mind and also for this World cup, we surely can spare a position for one or two if they are clearly better than the ones there right now and can add real quality to the team and to her team work ethics. Look, this is all for the Evolution of our team into a World class force which is a goal we are still pursuing. So I say once again... Welcome to Team Awesome.... We shall get there and we must. Thank you. 10 Likes 1 Share

somehow:A corruption free and transparent organization is always more attractive, at least to honest people. I gave an example with Rohr. Rohr has been transparent thus far, diligently going about his duties, even farther than his job description. Tell me which system you'd prefer. One with proper organization, where everything is done according to the book or one with underhandedness and corruption with chaotic organization? Say you are a foreign born and you are required to choose, which would it be? |

What do you guys mean by 'Nigeria is not world class team'? Is it until we win the world cup that we'll be world class? If a team that is amongst 32 nations gunning for world cup is not world class, what then is the team going to world cup to do. Honestly, I don't know which team you guys support but my team, GWG the, Super Eagles is a world class team and is a major contender for the world cup. If Greece and Portugal could conquer Europe, then Nigeria can conquer the world. Don't dampened these players morale by your posting. Support NFF, support GWG, support our team. 8 Likes |

mank1234: Looolll... So that means Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and even Japan are all world class teams right? Come on... But, I truly appreciate your optimism Sir Mank. But read between the lines again in my post and you will see that it is not out to dampen but rather to uplift and fan the fires of "I can do" and "Dare" in the heart of the players and team. It is well Sir Mank.... You are welcome.... 2 Likes
