I define a world class prospect as a player who can become world class if they keep improving and are properly managed.

Essentially, a top prospect.

Its impossible to know who can become world class. A top prospect might check all the boxes when it comes to physical traits but wat becomes of the talent is hard to predict.

I thought this issue has been thoroughly trashed on here and squashed as a myth we choose to believe to sooth our frail ego?

You should know that if given an opportunity, most of these foreign borns will choose their class A European countries ahead of us. There is absolutely no shame accepting that.

What we need to do now is clean our image and build up our reputation to be more appealing and make it easier for players to choose us. I think we're on the right path in that regard

For once let's have a komekn for another league..

KPOM

bengine:

He even almost scored from a cross, it was a lovely header but the goalie saved it!!! You need to see the kind of defenders he was playing against, they were all giants...

The bundesliga seem to be so strong defensively, its hard to score against any team. I watch their games on FOX sports and I get bored easily cos almost every team has very good defenders plus the formation they all use don't help matter( those formations tend to be more defensive minded)..

Too be honest I'm all for getting German FB defence( udokhai, akpoguma) for super eagles..there is just this grit about German raised defenders..

I define a world class prospect as a player who can become world class if they keep improving and are properly managed.

Essentially, a top prospect.

If i am not mistaking World class prospect, meaning "has the prospects of becoming world class".

The good and bad News is that....
Bad news first: Only very few players who had prospects of becoming world class end up as world class.
And the good news: so many players who were not initially considered as having prospects of becoming world class end up as world class.

For eg where are all the MVPs and highest goal scorers of the past FIFA U17 WCs. For those that have retired how did they retire? For those that are still playing where are they playing. Are they world class?

But meanwhile there are some other players that never won MVP, Silver ball or bronze ball or even highest goal scorers and some couldn't even make their respective teams and yet ended up world class.

World class prospects remain what they are: "Prospects " until they start proving themselves wherever they find themselves. This is a major reason I don't buy TheGoodJoe's idea of keeping slots for Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Nwakali, Chidi Nwakali and the likes. Let them first show it at club level that they are worthy of any invitation first before being invited.

The Super Eagles is not a grooming ground for young players. Let them get developed at their respective clubs.

Alternatively, I still clamour for the existence of a standing U21 team where we'll keep nurturing and assessing players who are 21 or less but are yet to get Super Eagles call ups. They must not necessarily take part in any continental competition. They will have the U20 or U23 coach as their coach. Each time there is a FIFA free window, we organise a top friendly for them.
With this we will always have ready successors for aging players and also the U21 team would easily be progressed to the U23s almost seamlessly and because they must have been playing together for long they will likely perform well and of course again produce more players for the Super Eagles.

Agu was not on the match-day squad due to accumulation of cards.

So Shehu Abdullahi is now keeping Agu on the bench? Well that's bad.

Iwobi/Iheanacho/Ebuehi/ etc are also prospects who can play for youth teams. .Uduokhai already plays regularly in the Bundesliga when fit. Some of our players will be unable to command a starting shirt in the bundesliga especially at center back where experience is usually favored. Uduokhai can already compete with the defensive personnel with the level he is playing at

He is not in the same boat as Osimhen or Nwakali.

So if the player is good but is not getting the right opportunity due to one factor or the other. We just saw a case of Ajiboye not given a sniff in looking in until the foreign trainer came and screened some keepers. Even if we set up a team b and a regular program with the U23 and U21, we need to make room for real Outstanding talents to work with the Senior team.

They must not make the final list but have the high quality training of the National team to help improve them.

Contrary to the point you tried to make that lots of promising talents fail along the line, a lot of promising talents became top quality.

From Fabregas, Iniesta, Xavi, Pique, Pedro, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo De Lima, Romario, Pele, Maradona, Diego Forlan, Kaka, Robinho, Neymar, David Silva, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Tevez, Figo, Michael Owen, Lampard, Beckham, Paul Scholes, Pirlo, Sanchez, Vidal, Kanu, Casillas and many more.

So, we must play our part in a lot of ways. A hand holding program in the Senior team is one of the ways. Look at the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Neymar and Lucas Moura who broke into their Senior National team in their teens. Do you think Brazil did not have quality experienced names to fill those slots?

Who was Oliseh before his Super Eagles callup?

What of Julius Aghahowa?

There are many that shows the National team is a building/grooming ground for quality talents. What of Omeruo?

It's okay bro.

Anyone brought in should justify his inclusion by being involved in scoring goals and creating chances.

I'm just after the team's success in all competitions

Manchester City starlet Tosin Adarabioyo at centre of tug-of-war between England and Nigeria

Manchester City starlet Tosin Adarabioyo is at the centre of an international tug-of-war between England and Nigeria.
The highly-rated central defender has been tipped for senior international honours and represented England juniors all the way up to Under-19 level.
However, the 20-year-old is being targeted by Nigeria, his country of heritage.

Adarabioyo was made available for loan by City during the final 48 hours of the transfer window following the signing of Aymeric Laporte.
But a deal failed to materialise with the youngster named on the bench by Pep Guardiola for City’s win over West Brom on Wednesday night.
The Super Eagles had planned to watch Adarabioyo play sustained senior football before deciding whether to tempt him with a place in their World Cup squad.

The highly-rated central defender has represented England all the way up to Under-19 level
Nevertheless, Nigeria’s concrete interest in Adarabioyo remains, leaving the Football Association in a fight to keep hold of the defender, who has made seven first-team appearances for City.

Nigeria have successfully persuaded Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi, who have both played for England at junior level, to change their international allegiance in recent years.
Players are only fully committed to a nation once they’ve played a competitive fixture.

Tammy is a new English word meaning disappointing or heart breaking. As used in this sentence; That guy tammied us or with all our efforts on him, he tammied us.

Manuel - Akanji is already gone and we cannot afford to miss these ones, especially Uduokhai, Ilori and Adarabioyo because they are exceptional good.

However, going to the world Cup, if Akpoguma, Uduokhai and Adarabioyo agrees to play for Nigeria then it is certainly certain that Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo's place are up for grab.
