It was necessary if for a second we had an eye on the future and building a top quality goalkeeper or maybe the best I the World. Imagine a talent like Ajiboye in camp training with the likes of Enyeama and under the tutelage of Ike Shorunmu for about two or three years. His quality would have been Outstanding.

That is a room to bridge the gap of the lack of quality training our special talents might miss out on. The exposure, Brutal.

I have always hammered on behind the scene is key. That is my point. We are fund of relaxing when we find the next shining object.

Bros I say again, that arrangement was not necessary.

Football is not always 1+1=2. Some times in football 1+3 can equal 2. That is you give so much and get little in return. You cannot be sure of who will come out good. You invest so much time in a keeper and at the end of the day the result is not what you expect.

At a time it seemed as if Alampasu was the Heir apparent to the SE goal post and I said it here that he may never be our first choice that some other keeper may spring up.

Even Uzoho may not end up as Eagle's first choice.

Sure you know Austine Ejide was second choice to Ike at the 2002 WC. He looked like the heir apparent but at the end Enyeama was first choice for the better part of it.

You don't just pick just one goalie and call him a special talent and attach him alone for years to the national team and close your eyes to other emerging goalies.

Besides we have had different coaches all the years and they all had their own philosophies. So don't blame anybody.

Was 07 U20 not the one Sanchez and Co. gave us four? Tufia. Exceptional for where. I watched that tourney. He was not exceptional. Ajiboye and Bassey were close to magic.

Wasn't Ajiboye in goal at 2009 U20 when we lost our first 2games and conceded 3 in the second round against Germany?

And Bassey only kept at U17 he was not tested at U20.

Abeg we don't need all those Ajiboye sentiment here. Nobody did any thing wrong to him.

Heir apparent or not does not stop us from making efforts to build our most exceptional talents. As for Alampasu, I only ask for the foreign goalkeeper trainer to carry him to camp and screen him with the rest. If they do better than Alampasu, fine. If they do not, then we are deceiving ourselves thinking we are going with the best.

He wasn't. That was Uche Okafor. Ajiboye was injured and kept goal only during the U-20 AYC/AFCON where he was really special. wink

Anyway, main point is he was not in goal at the 2009 U-20 World cup.

Are you sure?

It was Emeka Okafor who kept in the U20 2009. That was where the bias selection of dropping Ajiboye started.

As for Bassey not being tested enough, Why do you think I am shouting hand holding upandan?

Thank you. I even thought his first name was Emeka. Such crap. Very terrible keeper who could not position himself in goal. I used to say that guy would not even make our street's u17 choosing team.

That was where Obiora Nwankwo raised his head too.

Ajiboye special at the AYC wey Cameroon knack us 2-0 in the semi. Was he not also the one in goal when South Africa came from 1-0 down to beat us 2-1?

To give a hint of how good Akpan Bassey was as a kid, he played in a junior tournament with players from different academies. In the Semi final and final, Akpan Bassey was the man of the match because his team won through penalties. He saved all three in the Semi final and Did the same saving all three in the finals.

By then, Musa Abdullahi was building the U17 team for Nigeria and decided to play Akpan's team, Bright Stars.

Bright Stars destroyed the Nigerian U17 team 4-0 in Calabar. That was how Musa Abdullahi picked Akpan Bassey and his team mates including the brilliant Kelechi Osunwa.

I get really depressed when I read posts like this. Its either we don't believe in the goal keepers, our players are average, bashing of players etc. We are our own problem. We have been programmed to lose the world cup even before the first ball is kicked. We should bleed green and support whoever turns out to represent us on the field of play. Pessimism from us the fans spreads to the players who read our posts on line. Let's leave Rohr to do his job.

Let’s get it right and then optimism can follow. If you watch Ezenwa at CHAN and WC qualifiers, you will relate with my fears.
Every other part of our team can hold its own against our group opponents.

He was still special. I remember the commentary like yesterday. When the Camerounians finally got the first goal pass Ajiboye, the commentator before that was saying,

"Dele Ajiboye, what a special talent. It would only take something special to get pass the lad in goal."

And indeed rhe special that happemed was that our defence crumbled. Have you forgotten it was Ladan Bosso that took us to that AYC? Man messed up mehn... Ajiboye was awesome at that championship. I watched it. You cannot blame him for our 2-0 loss and 2-1 loss as if na him go keep still come defend. He was special and even the commentators could not hide it.

All goalies concede goals but ridiculing Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Uche Okafor for the goals they conceded is not fair.
Do you also recall that the game Ezenwa conceded 4 was 0-0 after 90mins? The defense that had Efe Ambrose and Echiejile crumbled and I remember Ezenwa making numerous saves during the regular 90mins. We were at the back foot for the most of that game.

I reiterate it that no body did Ajiboye any wrong. His time comes when it comes. That's all.

To the best of my knowledge, we were not at the back foot against the Chileans with the likes of Sanchez, Vidal and Medel. We controlled that game and attacked the Chileans.

The Chileans more of packed their bus and waited until the end of the second half. Then came at us after we had exhausted ourselves.

The Chileans tried the same thing against the Argentines but close to the end of the second half, Argentina snuck a goal in. I think it was Morales and he was offside but the referee did not blow.

I av this feeling that the best time to poach that Ademola guy is now that he has left his comfort zone. There is something about this innit boys ; they always feel that the world revolves around England, the EPL and the 3 lions until they cross the English borders to experience life at the other side of the river. That's when they normally come to their right senses. I like Ademola sha though he is diminutive grin

I agree, I don't think he feels respected by the English in general. IMO he was England's most consistent player at the U20 world cup and whenever he plays for Everton he does great but yet he can get left on the bench for 10 games straight without a word from their media. This is how I think Victor Moses felt right before he decided to go with Nigeria, he wants to show them that they are wrong about him not being top class.
