Personally, I found the Ademola move the most impressive of all the Nigerians during the transfer window. Stuffs like that don’t usually happen. Many players will improve their careers when they realize football does not revolve around the EPL. BascoVanVeli: 7 Likes |

Icon4s:My big oga this discussion does not deserves Ezenwa vs Ajiboye. I was enjoying every bit of your discussion with thegoodjoe on how to build special talent if we discovered one and i don't think thegoodjoe ever mentioned Ezenwa as a crap in the whole thing. What he was saying is simple, that Ajiboye is a rare gem that should have been in camp understudy the likes of Enyeama,Ejide and Aiyenugba. Truly you disagreed with him and you raised some points which cannot be swept under the carpet but both of you have some valid points and all we need is to harness it but truth must be told without sentiment we need to pay attention to special ones.Nduka Ugbade enjoyed this privilege right from Kodak 85 till 1994. Hope you remember how Iheanacho and Success were almost turned into mediocre during U 20 cos the coach find it so difficult to blend them into his team, thank God nobody doubt their quality but did you know those guys careers would have turned to static after U 20 WC if they are still home based. I don't want to talk on Ezenwa and Ajiboye rivalry cos there was a thread on Ajiboye performance against Sudan where Sudanese coach said Ajiboye took Nigeria to final, just too glaring the ethnic bad syndrome came into full glare and i need to run from the thread. Sir i will not deceive you i don't rate Ezenwa, am always preferring Akpeyi but against Argentina i just need to succumb that Akpeyi wasn't good enough.Till today am always seeing Ezenwa as a keeper that studied Akpeyi lapses and build on it and that lapses is call confidence. Ezenwa confidence in a goal post is awesome but nothing special about Ezenwa when we talk of class and it showed against Algeria but in CHAN especially against Angola he showed a class of a good keeper and that's what we want, improvement and if he continue with that performance it would be difficult for Rohr to drop him. Dele Ajiboye great performance against Sudan when he came in for injured Ezenwa wasn't a surprise for those who knew him from U 17 but to some a surprise cos they are seeing him for the first time and i will not deceive you it has been long seeing Nigeria keeper in such a symbolic displayed,Enyeama did it last against Argentina in 2010 WC though his own against Sudan but those saves are too daring and it showed that the guy is damn good cos those saves are meant for good keepers. It was these saves that make thegoodjoe to come out and believe that Nigeria system doesn't help our great talents, why such keeper should in the cooler for so long,so if not for Ezenwa injury a lot won't know that we have another capable hand on the bench. Good to have improved Ezenwa cos he did marvelously well against Angola and Ajiboye was just too damn good against Sudan and Uzoho 45 minutes performance against Argentina showed that we might not need Enyeama again if these lads keep on performing. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Icon4s:No Austin Ejide was not the second choice to Ike Shorunmu at 2002 WC,he lost it to Enyeama prior to the WC that was why we saw Enyeama against England. He took ordinary Kenya friendly for Enyeama to show class that he was better than Ejide who already had grade A friendlies, this is to tell you sometimes opposition doesn't determined best keeper. Mind you my former university coach ex international Amusa Adisa was the Super eagles goalkeeper trainer at 2002 WC,so i had first class info about the team. 3 Likes |

Icon4s:Yes you don't just pick a talented one and forget about emerging ones but sir have you asked yourself why Cameroon always have pool of good keepers to pick from,it's simple they always pay more attention to special ones among their emerging keepers not that they pick one and forget about others,no is not done that way. In the 80s we have Emma Okala, Best Ogedegbe understudied by Peter Rufai and Patrick Okala, later ,Okoye,Remi Oguns,Lateef Yusuf,Raymond Besr and later we saw the rise of Wilfred Agbonavbare,Alloy Agu,Christian Obi,Willy Okpara,Angus Ikeji,Emeka Amadj,Lemmy Isah,Andrew Aikhomogbe and Aliyu Muzambilu In the 90s despite not going to 1991 U17 and U20 WC,we have emerging keepers like Murphy Akanji,Dosu Joseph,Victor Gbenebechie,Leye Akinde,Emma Babayaro,Abiodun Baruwa and Sam Okoye. In 2000s we have Uche Akubuike,Greg Etafia,Sunday Rotimi,Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Dele Aiyenugba,Ambrose Vanzekin,Apam Bassey,Chiejoke Arugo monkey. But availability of Enyeama and too much concentration on Ejide(2002-2015)and Aiyenugba(2002-2012) for so long deputising for Enyeama affected the upcoming ones like Akpeyi,Ezenwa, Ajiboye. Who could have been heir apparent to Enyeama is Agbim but too mediocre,Keshi did not do well in this regard. This gave us a serious gap in our goalkeeping department. Truly Ikeme came into the rescue but health did not let us enjoyed him but just we made a mistake by keep on inviting Ejide and Aiyenugba when we have emerging Keepers in Akpeyi, Ezenwa and Ajiboye cos Enyeama,Ejide and Aiyenugba came out together at the same time. Honestly you have a point and thegoodjoe also have a point but whom do we blamed if not Nigeria factor, good Amaju led NFF seems to be working. 3 Likes |

You made a good point. Consider the ages of the trio -- Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba. At every point in time there should be a special talent young GK understanding the available senior GKs. Modified: understudying* I meant to say Kog45: 4 Likes |

Icon4s:Sir it seems you are not getting thegoodjoe. If we harness the potential of Akpeyi,Ezenwa and Ajiboye at the right time there would be no need looking up to academy keepers like Alampasu, Uzoho and Maduka for WC for God sake cos i see the trio for the future but now we don't have options coz the experience ones are not convincing especially Daniel Akpeyi. 5 Likes |

Kog45:I don't think having enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba at the same time was a mistake, they were the best keepers we had at that time, Enyeama needed the competition to be at his best and don't forget they were very young. you can't drop an ejide who some prefer to enyeama at that time for an unknown goal keeper. if we had done such, we would have found ourselves in this present situation in eventuality of enyeama getting injured. 3 Likes 1 Share |

BascoVanVeli:Chairman you dey follow league o,so truly Ezenwa wasn't first choice but going to Enyimba with another foreigner Fatau Dauda to contend with as number one is an uphill tasks. He needs a club where he would be commanding regular shirt as Nigeria keeper not second choice cos his form is paramount to our WC. 1 Like |

zicky:Yes you are right but i can tell you between 2010 to 2014,Ejide has lost it even Aiyenugba that was not getting the call again still active even till today. My man it reached a point Ejide and Aiyenugba doesn't have anything to offer again, hope you know that Spain later find themselves in the same scenario with Iker casillas,Pepe Reina and Victor Valdes but De Gea came into the rescue cos they already positioned him to take over. |

Icon4s:Sir if a keeper concedes a ridiculous goal he would be ridiculed but from you guys discussion so far nothing ridiculous about Ezenwa but Okafor of 2009 was damn ridiculous as a keeper. If Ajiboye messed up today which i don't pray for, trust Nigerians they w say it without any feelings,Akpeyi still feeling the heat. |

Arsenal's Top Dribbler Vs Everton? Iwobi Comes Out On Top Ahead Of Ozil, Ramsey & Mkhitaryan Alex Iwobi completed more dribbles than any Arsenal player in their 5-1 rout of Everton in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening. The Hale End Academy product was successful in three attempts when he took on the opposition. The Gunners second top dribbler against the Toffees was Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil, who completed two dribbles, followed by hat-trick hero Aaron Ramsey, Héctor Bellerín and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with one each. Everton Academy graduate Tom Davies had a game-high four dribbles, despite his introduction at the start of the second half. In other keys stats, Iwobi made one key pass which led to Ramsey's second goal, was dispossessed on the ball by an opponent once, won one tackle, made one interception and one clearance over the course of the ninety minutes he spent on the pitch. The Nigeria international racked up 55 passes with a passing accuracy of 87.3 percent, and had two accurate through balls. CHAN 2018: Morocco and Nigeria prepare to contest final By Nick Cavell BBC Africa sport, Morocco Hosts Morocco will face Nigeria on Sunday for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) trophy There will be a new name on the African Nations Championship (CHAN) trophy on Sunday as hosts Morocco take on Nigeria, who could become the first west African team to claim the prize. Morocco coach Jamal Sellami says Achraf Bencharki and Jawad El Yamiq are eligible to play following their moves to overseas clubs during the tournament which is for home-based players only. However winger Abelilah Hafidi misses the final, having picked up an injury during Morocco's win over Guinea in the group phase. Nigeria have three players definitely ruled out through injury - goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Sunday Faleye and Daniel James, while Ifeanyi Ifeanyi is suspended after his red card in the semi-final win over Sudan. Both teams have similar records at the tournament so far, drawing once and winning their other four games - and the two sides have also each had to win a game in extra-time. The Moroccans boast the tournament's top scorer so far in Ayoub El Kaabi who has grabbed eight of his side's 12 goals so far while the Nigerian's top scorers are Anthony Okpotu and Okechukwu Gabriel with two each from a total of 7. Both teams have been tough to score against as well both conceding just twice. Morocco coach Jamal Sellami: "The Nigerian team is a good team, they have some good individual players that try to win all their one against ones. "They have two good strikers, they are difficult when they are near your goal but we prepared good for this game. We have our qualities and we believe in our qualities and in our players. "During this tournament we have had many chances and many goals. We have scored from set pieces, we scored in open play from the wings from the centre and we have many solutions for the game tomorrow(today). "It will be a tough game - we believe in our team and Inshallah we will be successful tomorrow(today)." Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf: "We know the Moroccan team is a very good team playing at home, moved by the crowd. "But I think we have shown a lot of strong character in all our games - two games we came from behind. "We played a hard game with Sudan who are a good team and we survived 30 minutes with 10 men. We have shown a lot of character to be champions. "The Moroccans have the support at home and we respect them but I think it is going to be a very exciting final and very interesting." Kog45:I disagree, between 2010 to 2014, Ejide was still one of our very best, the most suitable deputy for enyeama, the other younger goal keepers refuse to step up their game. Vanzekin was suppose to break into the SE, but it never happened. These three goal keepers, Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba did not drop from the moon, they were home grown they were all at one time in goal at caf champions league final for their clubs. |
