Twagrill: Bredan007 has said a lot on the topic. I'll like to add some thing though. For simple 'live feed', you'd need FPV gear as he already said. - A video Transmitter (VTX) - A video Receiver (VRX) - A monitor - An FPV camera - An HD camera The transmitter is connected to your camera and sends images to your receiver which is displayed on the monitor. If your want to get other information displayed on the screen (altitude, speed, battery level, etc), you can use a Flight controller that has in built Onscreen display (OSD) or get a standalone OSD equipment. The purpose of the HD camera is for taking high definition images since FPV cameras are designed to record at lower quality This has to do with latency of transmitting large resolution images (like HD). Latency is the time lapse of delay between time video is taken by your camera and the time it takes to reach your monitor. FPV cameras are rated in TVL (TV lines) and can be designed to be quite small. This also reduces weight for small drones used mainly for FPV fun flying. I intend adding this to my 250 size build with an F3 Controller (inbuilt OSD) but the Flight controller requires a different kind of receiver to communicate with my Radio transmitter. I've placed an order for a new Receiver. Hopefully, the project will continue by January. See pictures of my FPV gear below 1 Like

RCDIY:Thanks!!! so FPV cameras can be replaced with HD cameras. And can u give me updates on your project as you progress |
Re: RC Cars, Drones And Planes by RCDIY(m): 1:08pm On Dec 28, 2017 |
Twagrill: HD cameras are usually not used for FPV due to latency issues in transmission. Remember in FPV, your practically flying your craft as if your actually riding in it. A small delay in video transmission could mean a crash or even loss of craft. But you can add HD camera to the craft to record fine images. I'll update the thread when my receivers arrive. Meanwhile, I'm trying to put my 'lighted' 250 Diatone to flight. Working on it today. Find pictures below 1 Like

Twagrill: Sure but not as compared to HD images. |

Hi, I am a hobbyist but honestly I never even thought about making a flying toy by myself, I usually purchase rc toys on Amazon, just trying to get the cheapest offer with the best characteristics. I have two drones already and want to buy my first electric plane, the modern models are pricey but their technical abilities are fantastic according to this review http://rcstate.com . I am inspired by the pics I found here at this thread, I will definitely try to make a plane by myself, after having bought one. I want to check it's potential speed and maneuverability, these are the main factors which determine plane's/drone's quality I guess. 2 Likes |

brendan007:I actually open another thread solely for quadcopter and that's where I've posted more. Here's a link to the thread. https://www.nairaland.com/4147249/how-build-quadcopter I sold the last craft I made. Presently, I'm making another using a slightly bigger frame. Also, I want to try Blheli ESCs instead of the SimonK that I've been using. On the other thread, I was working on a 250mm on iNav firmware for added features especially Mission flying. I'll share the updates here too. Parts list 260mm frame (Available) 2206 2200kv motors (available) Omnibus F3 FC (available) BLheli ESCs (Yet to order) 1500 4S Lipo (yet to order) 1 Like

Re: RC Cars, Drones And Planes by RCDIY(m): 1:32pm On Feb 03, 2018 |
brendan007: Okay, bro. I've ordered for the ESCs. But they don't have 5V supply for the FC and other little components. So I ordered a PDB too. Hopefully, I'll get them in 2 - 3 weeks and continue the build. |

Re: RC Cars, Drones And Planes by RCDIY(m): 7:05am On Feb 04, 2018 |
brendan007:You know how it is, bro. Yesterday, I was soldering pin to the FC. It's quite a delicate piece of work. Then, my son jumped on my back! The soldering iron moved over the board removing tiny resistors which are impossible to manually replace. The board is ruined. ($28) And I'll have to wait another 3 weeks to get a replacement |

Re: RC Cars, Drones And Planes by RCDIY(m): 9:34am On Feb 04, 2018 |
brendan007:Yeah, true! I needed more light so I brought the board to the sitting room. I've ordered another. The wait is killing me though. |

brendan007:Thanks, man. Meanwhile, I'm gonna play around with my 500mm AP rig. I've had it under the sheet since a crash that damaged the GPS. Ordered another GPS unit but it arrived faulty. Sent for yet another and now, it's okay. Hoping to get a better battery later to increase flight time to 15 minutes +.

Re: RC Cars, Drones And Planes by brendan007: 10:22pm On Feb 05, 2018 |
RCDIY:This is really cool. I think quads are the way to go. My plane is still locked up(no flying area) and I'm sure completely rusty on the controls. The system I usually use for stimulation had packed up long ago. With a quad the first problem goes away and with time the second follows suit. 1 Like |
Re: RC Cars, Drones And Planes by RCDIY(m): 10:52pm On Feb 05, 2018 |
brendan007:That's why planes didn't interest me so much. No real space to fly as you said. Quads? I can fly even inside my sitting room. And they're fast, the mini ones, so fast. I still got a lot to learn. And when I get better, I'll buy FPV googles and stop flying only Line Of Sight. The stadium will make a good flying area even for planes though. Where you at? |

So, I ordered 2 sets of FC and ESCs. I intend using one set for remaking my previous 250 to include FPV parts. The other set will go to my other thread where I will continue my quest for mission-capable quadcopter using iNAV. Additional parts are: Video Transmitter Video receiver LCD monitor FPV camera I will start work on it by tomorrow night and hopefully be flying on Saturday. |
