These are the kind of players from the NPFL I am interested in.

These are the ones we can hope on to progress through our junior ranks and from their hit the foreign leagues and then add value to the national team.

Our master plan should be to develop him in our league not to ship him to a foreign league. With better management and structure could be one of the best leagues for youth development.

you had the same thing to say about our outfield players

Havn't we been screening our GKs so far? You already know Alloy's verdict

We have done some screening to some level but hardly or never selected the best. That is my problem. That is why I said, screen and select the best.

I just wanted to make it a point that this is no longer a player A versus player B debate.

What we have here is a conundrum, if we really must be realistic. I don't trust a home based keeper for the world cup. But should we trust very young keepers like Uzoho, Alampasu or Maduka? For a young keeper, the keeper has to be exceptional. If Rohr has made his decision on Uzoho, we must subject him to full 90 minutes games in most of the friendlies we have line up -- if not all. That will be enough preparation for him for the tourney proper, considering that he is not playing in the topflight at the moment.

Modified
Let me reiterate, in either case, our defense has to be SOLID.
I
Jobie i will not deceive you anytime i remember our goalkeeping issue fear always grip me but i will not deceive you if care is not taken it would be one of our greatest undue at the coming WC cos options available looks somehow, home based goalkeepers and untested foreign goalkeepers, then how do we go about it.

I will not deceive you i would not rate Alampasu and Maduka ahead of Ezenwa and Ajiboye for now cos i haven't see them playing for Eagles,so it would be sentimental to put them ahead.

On Uzoho being number one, well he had a good game against Argentina but not really tested so more games as you said may be another 90 minutes then we judge but what i saw against Argentina he looked promising.

Ezenwa had it so good in WC qualifying matches except Algeria match were he made some basic errors though he happens sometimes but i don't think Rohr trust him but if we go by his performance against Angola then Rohr need to trust him.

Ajiboye which i don't think is on Rohr radar but with his performance against Sudan it would be an injustice if he is not consider cos his saves against Sudan were awesome but may be a good showing against Morocco would convince Rohr.

As thegoodjoe always saying we need to give our goalkeepers level playing ground so that we can pick the best without sentiment

We develop him both in the local league(his early years) and then he moves to the foreign leagues for better exposure.

Our league structure doesn't have what it takes to bring out the best in a player. Be real man.

Guys I got an interesting book from a WhatsApp forum I belong to on how Germany won the last WC (Title:Das reboot). If anyone is interested in the book just drop your email and I will send the book to you.

The book details how the Germans engineered the 2014 success, how they went about it deliberately, setting things up from say roughly 2002. It tells of how German players are educated to become thoroughbred professionals. It tells the story of the establishment of football academies and playing centers spread out throughout Germany in a way similar to how the RCCG church establishes a parish in every 1km (walking distance). It talks about the potpourri of human resources the Germans utilized- they even involved the German national hockey team coach, a world renowned adventurer and SAP (the largest software company in the world)

It's 289 pages, written in quite an engaging way with a happy, lighthearted tone wrapped up in simple, crisp English.

Football is no longer kick, dribble, run, score. It has become scientific, indeed almost a pure science. This much became apparent to me when due to the constant use of terms like pressing, diamond shape, tactical formations by goodjoe, Mickael2 and others. Joebie reintroduced me again to four four two online after I'd read the hardcopies long time ago. Reading four four two magazine further reinforced the view that football is an intellectual endeavour.

We are here today. Nobody knows who among us might be involved with our football tomorrow. So reading such a book can birth a dream in our hearts or at least give us insight on how things are shaping up beyond our climes. Reading Icon4s mention Osimhen in his exchange with goodjoe, I remembered the book and I think Osimhen is just now getting educated. Our footballer play football. Europeans are educated from 6 years on to play football. That's the difference between Iwobi said Osimhen. Street cannot measure up anymore to the refinements of an educated footballer. That era is long gone.

Please send the book to thegoodjoehunt@gmail.com

Thanks in advance.

Please if that guy should happen to be a big hit in either our U17 team or NPFL he should make his way to a good club in Europe for the benefit of both his career and our national team.

Good write up.

But do you also know that the training ground may not be the best place to select the best keeper?

Can you tell us the best place? The only way to know who is the best is to get them together, screen and know who have better indices.

It is in such environment you can test abilities. From agility, reflexes, technical understanding in setting up defence, reach, clearance strength, passing ability, etc.

As I said before a goalkeeper trainer who can not screen and select the best is not a good goalkeeper trainer. He does not know his job.

Akpeyi against South Africa, Argentina,

Uzoho against Argentina,

Ezenwa against Cameroon,Zambia, Algeria,Angola

Ajiboye against Guinea, Sudan,

Pls pick your number one

That is "if". And a Nigerian "If" for that matter.
In a place like Europe "If" can be a 50% chance of success and 50% chance of failure. But the Nigerian "If" can be only 1% chance of Success and 99% chance of failure.

Please if that Lawal guy should become a hit I wish him a good footballing career in Europe Jare. Who no like better thing.

Based on strength of attack/nature of opposition faced and importance of games played. Ezenwa had the strongest test. So he comes out top for me.

Chairman you dey follow league o,so truly Ezenwa wasn't first choice but going to Enyimba with another foreigner Fatau Dauda to contend with as number one is an uphill tasks.

He needs a club where he would be commanding regular shirt as Nigeria keeper not second choice cos his form is paramount to our WC.

I think playing continental football had something to do with the move and also not too many teams would be able to match Enyimba's pay package.

If that's all we want then shouldn't the boy be in an academy?

what is the use of complaining about the average age of the league being too high when u want to sell our young players to the highest bidders?

lrrespective of the nature of the opposition, based on just the quality of the saves, l think l would go with Ajiboye.
What Ezenwa has over Akpeyi is confidence, but Ezenwa is not calm and yet Ajiboye seems to me to be both calm and confident. This is my opinion though.

The average age of the league is high because the more promising players have left.

Also, scouts target younger players.

If he should be in an academy fine but once he excels and the big clubs start coming I am sure you'll be one of those to rejoice here. So just be real.

Ezenwa, because he's had more chances with the team, maybe due to the preference of Alloy Agu. Rohr hasn't given Ajiboye opportunities to prove himself yet like he has given Ezenwa and even Akpeyi/Uzoho.

That's a lie, plenty of players have made it into the SE while playing in the NPFL even under Rohr. I have no issue with him going abroad but that should not be his mission in life he should focus on his development. Are u guaranteeing me that he is going to be good enough to play for Madrid or Barca?

Basco, somehow and other ardent followers of the local league, with MFM bad traveling record coupled with the fact that most of their players are young academy players, do you think they'll do well on the continent? we really need to go far this time around I think since sunshine stars made it to the semifinals I'm not sure any Nigerian side have done well on the continent. we can't afford to wait for a very long time before we win it again. these North African sides no get 2 heads na and it's not like they play better than us.
