It seems, I'm getting you now.

The young boy shouldn't focus all his energy and hope on travelling to Europe, he should take it one step at a time, so when the opportunity presents itself, he travels. If he's all about breaking out of the league, he might not eventually make it out and would end up being a mediocre player.

Right?

Exactly.

Mujtahida:
Guys I got an interesting book from a WhatsApp forum I belong to on how Germany won the last WC (Title:Das reboot). If anyone is interested in the book just drop your email and I will send the book to you.

The book details how the Germans engineered the 2014 success, how they went about it deliberately, setting things up from say roughly 2002. It tells of how German players are educated to become thoroughbred professionals. It tells the story of the establishment of football academies and playing centers spread out throughout Germany in a way similar to how the RCCG church establishes a parish in every 1km (walking distance). It talks about the potpourri of human resources the Germans utilized- they even involved the German national hockey team coach, a world renowned adventurer and SAP (the largest software company in the world)

It's 289 pages, written in quite an engaging way with a happy, lighthearted tone wrapped up in simple, crisp English.

Football is no longer kick, dribble, run, score. It has become scientific, indeed almost a pure science. This much became apparent to me when due to the constant use of terms like pressing, diamond shape, tactical formations by goodjoe, Mickael2 and others. Joebie reintroduced me again to four four two online after I'd read the hardcopies long time ago. Reading four four two magazine further reinforced the view that football is an intellectual endeavour.

We are here today. Nobody knows who among us might be involved with our football tomorrow. So reading such a book can birth a dream in our hearts or at least give us insight on how things are shaping up beyond our climes. Reading Icon4s mention Osimhen in his exchange with goodjoe, I remembered the book and I think Osimhen is just now getting educated. Our footballer play football. Europeans are educated from 6 years on to play football. That's the difference between Iwobi said Osimhen. Street cannot measure up anymore to the refinements of an educated footballer. That era is long gone.

Yes, even you are not on the 18, you can be on the bench. You travel with 23 but can name only 18 for the match.

I hope Odey gets to score a lot more but it is too early.

I never heard of being on the bench when not on the squad, I don't agree with that, we are not talking EPL here.

The minute nff and NPFL prioritize success and development in our football over greed and corruption then we can start talking of our players developing in the country. I am all for our home based players going to Europe because that's where they get good World class football education. What player has been in the the NPFL for a considerable period of time whom you Can vouch for to produce top class performance for the SE?Except ajiboye. Can you imagine if mikel played his whole career in the NPFL, you think he would smell the SE? Even if he did I doubt he would be this influential. It's not only talent.education, top facilities, pitches, quality training drills, health and diets, fitness are now has important as talent for the top level.

If all u want is Europe u are even opening the door wider for exploitation of our players. football is all about greed so let us not lie to ourselves. Why should a player be deceiving themselves in Romania or something all in the name of playing in Europe.

You do not have to agree with it. It is what it is. Only 18 players are for the game. The others do not go to the stands. They are right there on the bench.

Substitutes include: Muhammed, Musa, Abdullahi,Esiti, Igiebor, Alimi and Ezenwa.

I acknowledged that but all i'm saying is that it would be most ideal to focus on developing the player. Don't forget that a lot also depends on the coaching. For example, Abdu Maikaba has been doing a great job in player development.
developing the player in what sense...?
osaguona who spent several years in the npfl only to travel to Europe could not meet up and there after return to north Africa...and likewise many others....including Ezekiel bassey who could not even cope in Barcelona B team..
but say...a young player like a teenager will manage to cope as it will require them to begin the training process and shaping all over...being a young lad...he can be tailored quickly...

I believe the npfl is a league any player shouldn't be comfortable wit...it should be a stepping stone for a better club...in Europe where players can be better tutored in the rudiment of football..

those coaches I see in the npfl many of them know nothing...
I once watched...ogbeide talk in ITV before the the presenter....that he does not watch epl or any other foreign foptbal club...and this is a man who was coaching warri wolves as at then.....

just to tell you....how dull some of this coaches are....little wonder I will say...the npfl don't just like infrastructural facilities...but also human resources....
because many of this coaches...don't understand the scientific nature of the round leather game...many won't even pass...should an exam be set for them.

Yes and "men" is not measured by age but by ability and willingness to act in the capacity of "men".

Chief Icon4s.... If we go by this " men" talk, then the likes of Iwobi, Iheanacho, Ndidi and even Awaziem will be considered neonates despite their precocious talents. These are young lads that play like men when in the GWG and if Uzoho can play like that, then I have no problem with him being no.1

The WC is for men, yes but also for "boys" with the heart of men.... These boys will be exceptional talents no doubt with the heart to fight in their national colors. Examples of such "boys" who acted like men include 17 yrs old Pele (1958), 20 yrs old Thomas Muller (2010), Franz Beckanbauer at age 21 (1966), Samuel Eto'o at age 17 (1998), Etc....

In all, we hope for the best but I have no real fears about Uzoho and I trust Rohr knows what he is doing as he sees through the eyes of experience combined with Insight.

Icon4s:

I am also not satisfied with him either. Not just him, but any of the goalies.

Threat from an Angola, Sudanese or a homebased Guinean side is nothing compared to what is obtainable at the regular AFCON and WC qualifiers let alone the WC.

As I said before, It is going to be a tough tough decision for Rohr to assign Uzoho as first choice, no matter the amount of personal training and coaching he receives.

The WC is for men.

The players u mentioned should probably still be in the NPFL because they clearly can't cut it at the European elite clubs. This is why I say it is not by force to go to Europe. If players all go out of the NPFL then who will play in it?

If the league focuses on development it will be a massive boost because we can finally start getting big money for our players and it can help our clubs. We have good coaches like Abdu Maikaba and Gbenga Ogubote our league is not filled with dummies, it is just our clubs who have to do the best for their players.

Brutal truth.

One can have a 15 year old as a striker at the world cup. But the goal keeping department must and should never be joked with.

The goalkeeper will always make the difference between a win, a draw and a loss. The goalkeeper determines the result of a match.

Yep, so let us go draft in Aiyenugba and Enyeama then....

I suppose no one remembers how relatively inactive a 21-year-old talented Ondoa was before AFCON 2017. Cameroun had a Kameni but stuck with Ondoa and it paid off beautifully. We have lessons all around us.

This brutal truth of "WC for men" in the GK dept cost us at France 98. With all of Rufai's experience, we flunked as he was no way near being super active prior to France 98. We need to be careful and take the better risk.

CHAN Final: Nigeria face sternest test yet vs. hosts Morocco
By Kunle Fayiga, Correspondent

The West Africans might have gone past Sudan, but now have it all to do against the Atlas Lions in Sunday's showpiece

The Super Eagles of Nigeria made it to a first-ever CHAN final after seeing off Sudan 1-0 in Thursday’s semi-final in Marrakech , in typically dramatic fashion.

Gabriel Okechuku – hero in the 2-1 extra time quarter-final win over 2011 runners-up Angola , was the man of the moment again as he latched on to Antony Okpotu’s header and coolly slotted the ball past Sudan goalie Akram in the 16th minute.
Nigeria’s number one Ikechukwu Ezenwa had gone off injured four minutes earlier and was replaced by Plateau United’s Dele Ajiboye, who emerged as an unlikely hero for the national side.

==>> *check attached pic below.

Despite their success to date, however, Salisu Yusuf and his coaching crew now come up against their toughest test yet, as they face Morocco , arguably the best team present at the CHAN, in Sunday's final.

Indeed no team has scored more goals (12) than the Atlas Lions. The 4-0 opening Group A bashing of Mauritania and the 3-1 extra-time semi-final victory over rivals and 2014 champions Libya were prime examples of their dominance.
I'm not even bothered on Manchester United's result against Spurs.

The victory of our very own @NGSuperEagles against Sudan make me feel so happy and proud. They have made it to finals #CHAN2018 . Thank you, Nigeria! 11:01 PM - Jan 31, 2018 24 100 252 Sen Danjuma Goje @SenDanjumaGoje

In contrast, the Super Eagles have not been at their eye-catching best despite making it through to the final.
They weren’t convincing enough during the group phase, drawing their opener against Rwanda and struggling to get past Libya, before coming from behind to defeat Equatorial Guinea.
The West Africans were on the cusp of elimination in the quarter-finals at the hands of 2011 runners-up Angola, but 2017 NPFL top scorer Anthony Okpotu equalised at the death before Akwa United’s Okechukwu sealed the deal in extra-time.

Nigeria becomes first and ONLY team to play in all hosting cities.
Tangier: Nigeria 0-0 Rwanda
Nigeria 1-0 Libya
Nigeria 2-1 Angola (AET)

Agadir:
Nigeria 3-1 Equatorial Guinea
Marrakech:
Nigeria 1-0 Sudan

The Super Eagles might have a never-die attitude which has made them go this far, but they’ll need to be much better and sharper against Morocco at the Stade Mohammed V on Sunday.
Unlike against Sudan, the defence can’t afford to be sloppy and leave the goalkeeper to save their blushes. Similarly, the midfield has been giving away possession cheaply throughout the tournament, and danger looms if they're similarly complacent against the hosts, who could capitalise on their failings.

The absence of the banned Ifeanyi also denies them a key man in the heart of the midfield.

Above all, the attack needs to be sharper and convert their chances.
The likes of Sunday Faleye and Okpotu have shone brightly on occasion in North Africa, but have also been wasteful with their finishing.
On the day, game-management will be critical, and the Eagles need so settle early in order to take the sting out of opponents who will be desperate to lift the title in front of their own fans.

The nation are gradually emerging from a dark period of underachievement, with the senior national team qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in 20 years after reaching the quarter final of the Nations Cup, and Wydad Casablanca lifting the CAF Champions League as the nation's first winners since Raja Casablanca in 1999.

Morocco are a footballing nation back on the rise, and their talented and offensively dominant home-based team, with the advantage of home support, represent the sternest test yet for these home-based Eagles.

Easy bro the way you are bashing NPFL then the league will never develop cos it seems you are not seeing anything good in the league, pls,NPFL remain our own and i wish one day we would be there though not easy.

Mind you,not only NPFL players are failing to make the cut in Europe,so Ezekiel failed in Barca team not an issue, hope you know that Dele Ali failed a trial with Liverpool,Tottenham almost lost Harry Kane,Yaya Toure failed Arsenal trial,so it happened in football not peculiar to home based.

Why not mentioned Alhassan Muzzam who went from NPFL straight to starting line up in Europe or Stephen Odey who went to Switzerland, also Afeez Aremu and Chima Akas.

This league has produced enough players for our national teams and it will continue irrespective of state of infrastructure or human resources.

I want you to know we have some local coaches who reason like us and understand the game very well,so try and always balance your view on NPFL cos this thread is a world recognize one and a lot peep here to know more about Nigeria football.

I am not calling for Osimhen. Osimhen had nothing to do with what I was talking about.

Get the point. It is too simple.

Due to the challenges our players face because of the Nigerian factor that holds them from reaching the pinnacle of their abilities, the National team handlers should do more hand holding to enable some of them reach their deserved heights.

Do you see Osimhen in the point?

I beg no vex, what in your opinion is Nigerian Factor

I agree, I don't think he feels respected by the English in general. IMO he was England's most consistent player at the U20 world cup and whenever he plays for Everton he does great but yet he can get left on the bench for 10 games straight without a word from their media. This is how I think Victor Moses felt right before he decided to go with Nigeria, he wants to show them that they are wrong about him not being top class.

It's not so simplistic as that, I can assure you.
