Aaron Samuel Set To Join Norwegian Side Molde From Russian Side CSKA Moscow

The association between Aaron Samuel and Russian side CSKA Moscow looks likely to come to an end in few days time with Norwegian side Molde pushing to sign him.
Samuel has struggled to find his best form at the Russian side following his move from Chinese side Guangzhou R&F on permanent basis after initially playing on loan.

Last season he played just seven times in the league as he was battling his way back to fitness after being out for a while, but his lack of game continued this season with just seven league games and one goal to his name in the first stanza.

23 year old Samuel has had spells in Norway before, firstly with Valerenga before crossing to Sarpsborg 08, and Molde who are in need of a striker have made him their prime target.

A deal is reportedly not far off between both parties with CSKA Moscow keen on allowing him leave following the capture of Ahmed Musa on loan from Leicester City, especially after his goal in his first game upon his return to the club where he spent four seasons.

Personally, I found the Ademola move the most impressive of all the Nigerians during the transfer window. Stuffs like that don’t usually happen. Many players will improve their careers when they realize football does not revolve around the EPL.

His agents advised him accordingly.

Firstly, which winger is he going to displace in the EPL if he cannot cut it in the EPL. It's not that he is not good enough just that there are players who are better and ahead of him at Everton.

You look at the championship if he chooses a team in the top 6/7 of the championship he may not get a regular starting berth. Then if he goes lower where emphasis I'd on physicality and not good technical football, with his small size, he will simply be lost.

It's easier for him to make a way for himself in the Bundesliga than the EPL.

Yep, so let us go draft in Aiyenugba and Enyeama then....

I suppose no one remembers how relatively inactive a 21-year-old talented Ondoa was before AFCON 2017. Cameroun had a Kameni but stuck with Ondoa and it paid off beautifully. We have lessons all around us.

This brutal truth of "WC for men" in the GK dept cost us at France 98. With all of Rufai's experience, we flunked as he was no way near being super active prior to France 98. We need to be careful and take the better risk.

Good point but Rohr must not gamble with goalkeeping department, very vital to the team cos if you watched Angola and Sudan match if not for Ezenwa and Ajiboye we would have lost those matches.

Sir TheGoodJoe insists on picking the best and I agree with him. Rohr will gamble. In football, lots of risks are taken and must be lived with.

Right now, Rohr is a situation where picking any of Ezenwa, Ajiboye, Uzoho, Okoye, Alampasu, or looking to consider a clubless and action less Enyeama WILL ALL BE A GAMBLE no matter the choice he makes. So Rohr cannot avoid it. He has to take a gamble as regards pur GK dept but the real question is this....

"Which is the best gamble?"

In other words, Which gamble have the best odds? smiley

The friendlies will give us a better picture of Rohr's choices eventually in the GK position. But what is clear now is who he will test in those friendlies....

Two names are sure... "Uzoho and Ezenwa"

With time, we will get to discover who else he will test to seal his decision on the GK dept for good.

Nah, it tells you nothing... It is one game, one goal. I believe Lookman also scored on his Everton debut.

Let's see what he will do in the Bundesliga in the next few weeks.

I expect him to score quite a few goals in the coming weeks.

Yes and "men" is not measured by age but by ability and willingness to act in the capacity of "men".

Chief Icon4s.... If we go by this " men" talk, then the likes of Iwobi, Iheanacho, Ndidi and even Awaziem will be considered neonates despite their precocious talents. These are young lads that play like men when in the GWG and if Uzoho can play like that, then I have no problem with him being no.1

The WC is for men, yes but also for "boys" with the heart of men.... These boys will be exceptional talents no doubt with the heart to fight in their national colors. Examples of such "boys" who acted like men include 17 yrs old Pele (1958), 20 yrs old Thomas Muller (2010), Franz Beckanbauer at age 21 (1966), Samuel Eto'o at age 17 (1998), Etc....

In all, we hope for the best but I have no real fears about Uzoho and I trust Rohr knows what he is doing as he sees through the eyes of experience combined with Insight.

All those players you mentioned: Ndidi, Iwobi, Iheanacho, Awaziem are up there with the men.

They are all senior "Team A" players with a minimum of 3 seasons of top flight football in there bags.

How you would be comfortable making a teenager in a B team first choice to a WC and you will feel comfortable beats me hollow.

Mind you we are going to the WC as underdogs and you know what that means.

Even by picking the best he would still be gambling because you and I know Uzoho stands a great chance of being Rohr's no.1 for Russia based of Rohr's actions in the past few months. Seeing him at close view in camp, throwing him into that game against Argentina, sending a member of his coaching staff (most likely Enrioco pionetti and one other) to go work with Uzoho in Spain alongside the Deportivo coaches...... The signs are there.... But in all the friendlies will be the final decision marker.

My point is simple... No matter the choice made from the available options, it is a gamble. Only that some risks/gambles are just worth the take more than others.

Time to change that phrase that the World Cup is for men. I totally disagree.

Who is our best goalkeeper? Who are the best defensive pairing? Best striker, best to play the creative midfield role etc.

Absolutely, but which EPL at his current level of development will give him guaranteed first team football. Don't think any.

Best option is the Championship then among the top teams that play good passing technical football, he will still have to fight for first team. If drops below the top 8 teams they will be too physical for him.

The Bundesliga is a better option all round for him, he will do well.

I beg no vex, what in your opinion is Nigerian Factor

We have draw backs in our system that holds quality talents back. A big one is the Brown envelop that has been going on for ages. Secondly, there is an aura of negativity that surrounds our players. Look at how Ian Wright singled out Nigerians as the cause of Leicester City poor performances.

Then there is the bias treatment from coaches because of the same negative aura. You can feel how lots of Blue fans wished Zapacosta was the messiah to drop Victor Moses despite his contributions. Look at how Puel treated Iheanacho. Sometimes not good enough for the bench.

So with all these and many more, our players need to utilize as much positivity they can get. The negatives are out there tagged the Nigerian factor.

Same way Pele was a teen with little or no national team experience before he stunned the world... wink

Even Iheanacho walked into the Super Eagles with little experience and showed what stuff he was made up.
Same with Iwobi all before further experience was garnered.

I look at the talent and quality of a player that belies age and experience... Uzoho seems to have that going for him. This is what informs my confidence.

I believe that "sometimes", Precociousness trumps experience and also shatters the walls of league class.

Ondoa is an example. Cameroun didn't turn to Kameni but to Ondoa not getting any games in the Spanish Segunda for about 9months or so before the Afcon. His parent club then, Gimnastic Tarragona loaned him to Sevilla atletico aka Sevilla B. He was at Sevilla B and still was not being considered but Tue national team rated him highly and his obvious talents could not be denied. He was better than even Onana of Ajax. Ondoa is an example to look at.

So Chief... Yes... It beats logic but I have seen that logic thrown to the bins before. Uzoho has got immense talent and is highly rated even in Spain by the Deportivo coaches and then by Rohr. That should tell you Something.

I know you are methodical and rational in your approach. With this in mind which players and why do you think they are underrated

I am not just referring to two or three players. The likes of Ogu, Balogun, Ekong, Idowu, Ebuehi and others are beginning to look top quality in my eyes. Their impacts are under rated.
