Don't keep your job aside to avoid denied under Work "No job" since u have its a tie. Once u are 24/25years above they weigh u on work. 23years below Students can still get on what does your parents do?

Who is sponsoring? Email of the sponsor gives the VO clear view on sponsor. If its the hotel fill in their email. If it's your school fill the email(questions on how many of you are going from your school will surely come up).

If u ain't including your uncle! Them dey later catch people ooo for example. When an applicant end up filling family(uncle) as point of contact at the port of entry (but u said u no get pesin) grin so be careful

Go along with all the conference related documents u have

I will say it again and again, running away from Nigeria to a country others laboured to build is never the solution because you will still come back to face the same challenges you ran away from.

It is time we make Americans, Europeans, Asians, Arabs and what have you understand that their land is not miracle place where we must come to before we can succeed.

We ought to be getting their visa without stress like they get ours but because we abused it and make it seem like without traveling to America we will die of hunger and poverty, its all lies, my people change your mentality, believe in Nigeria, work dedicatedly and you will definitely succeed with dignity.

The millions of $$$ USA and UK make from Nigerians through visa fee alone in one year is more than enough to rebuild Nigeria to a world class nation.

They are raping African nations due to our useless leadership system which we must all come together to rebuild and make it work for our future good and that of our unborn kids. We can't keep running away to foreign nations that may decide to chase us out in future whether as citizens or illegals angry

I have followed this thread from page 1 down to the last page and I weep for Nigeria.

Why are we so desperate to travel to USA for Christ sake

Even people earning good income who are supposed to use the money they want to go and waste on a useless USA fantasy trip on a more visible investment, oh I remember, Nigeria is a shithole country according to Presi D and so every Nigerian including high earning Nigerians want to sacrifice their good image and reputation for US.

Imagine how my people are belittling our image, placing their life and fate at the mercy of ordinary Visa Officers whom u can pay and even cater for, making them feel like demigods. I don't blame them, I blame our useless past and present presidents/governors/senators, God will punish them all and their whole generation for impoverishing my people such that we now crave to run to any country gosh! angry

This has to stop!

We Nigerian youths must change all these nonsense! We need to start taking politics and leadership serious or we will keep running away to countries we don't even know how they will treat us in future to come.

I foresee a future where USA, Europe will become very arrogant and brutal to African migrants whether those living there as citizens or illegal migrant. A time will come when these nations will make laws that will revoke citizenships of African migrants and throw them out of their countries miserable!

We must rebuild Nigeria now!

Stop tribal politics! Stop religious politics!

We need capable hands to govern us irrespective of their tribe or religion!

We must stop voting for old brainless men as our leaders who only loot, tour the world with our commonwealth and then make stupid policies that further impoverish Nigerians and increase youth unemployment.

Nigerians wake up!

USA is not Paradise!

If you work hard here, add a little smartness, u will be earning good income that will make u laugh at people migrating to US to go and do odd jobs.

How much does all these Visa Officers forming demigods earn Some of u putting your destiny at their mercy earn far more than them but because we refused to fight our useless leaders to make the right policies that will create good paying jobs and make small businesses thrive, we now put all our destiny in the hands of ordinary USA visa officers to decide, God forbid, this must change!

Sadly, we even spiritualize the getting visa of a thing, seeing it a miracle, a breakthrough, sighs. Your destiny is not tied to any country or land, your destiny is in your hands to decide not in obodo Oyimbo. Many have failed even after migrating to US, UK, Europe, etc and many have succeeded while living in their hometown not even in the city.

Imagine the billions of $$$ US government is making from Nigerians via visa fee yearly just because we refused to fix our nation's leadership by shying away from politics and leaving Nigeria for fools to rule and destroy!

For those who don't know, yes your uncle in US earns $8,000 per month, he pays rent of at least $500 or more every month or pays his mortgage which may last for at least 30yrs, he pays for gas, tax, etc and at the end of the month he maybe left with just #2,000...now, if u use that 1.5million or more u want to spend on frivolous fantasy USA trip to startup a business or something here in Nigeria, with Nigeria's large population, everything moves here if u are dedicated to it and do it well....believe me, u will be earning at least, 10,000naira everyday if not more and multiply it by 30 days, u are better off than those living abroad doing odd jobs without respect or self worth.

There is no place like home...

You will have your freedom and have the potential to grow endlessly so long as u know what u are doing.

Life doesn't start and end in USA, how many Nigerians living in USA, UK, etc are millionaires or billionaires

Most are just there but we like the efizzy that comes with I live in US, I live in UK, I live in Europe, we must change this stupid mentality.

Nigeria is one of the best places to invest and startup a business and grow it, our population is a big plus for any serious entrepreneur to excel. Wake up!

Go get your PVC now, we must correct every of our past political mistakes at the polls, join the various youth coalition movements agitating for a better Nigeria.

We should only travel to US or any other country to do business, to go on genuine vacation, study, etc but not to migrate permanently to go and labour doing odd jobs that we can't do here in Nigeria.

Enough is enough!

And when they open their mouths to speak they wouldn't be found out? They are mostly natural during interview, the ones I talk about are real agberos oh, the ones that for instance own established transport business, control of motor parks, real estate, lcommunity leadership, car dealership, etc

I agree with you. Me I like to state my comments with real experience particular those close to me.

Some years ago, one of my ladipo brothers (nna mhen)
Won lotto, so he decided to travel to USA. During his interview the vo asked him why he was visiting USA and he replied "I win Babi jebu and I want go amelika to go buy markit" vo was lost and my bloda repied ' I say I win Babi jebu, Babi jebu... You no dey hear me? I say I want go amelika make I go buy markit I win Babi jebu. Vo was lost and the people around had to chip in to explain to the vi what he was trying to say ( trust my ladipo bros them na Dem dey loud).
Vo laughed and the next thing was his visa collection slip.
Just be real and truthful, if you get the visa fine, if not, no qualms.during my first USA interview at a point I thought I wouldn't get it, and I was like woreva. I've got valid SA and schengel visa I will Paris go enjoy myself. I even told the vo I needed to be in France as soon as am done in the USA come cos I had to be in France, she asked my why and I replied that I had to be with my boy friend and we planned a vac in Paris at that time but he will be leaving ahead of me since he had official assignment that will take him there.

Your stats are wrong about what they made from visa fee.... Nigeria budget is not even up to New York State yearly budget... What they charge us on visa is what we charge them in return for our visa.... The amount of money they gave us in aid is more than they get from visa fee...
Please let us try and do proper research and also this thread is for Non Immigrant visa which means most people on this thread have no plan to migrate to U.S but for visit,training/conference and medical visit.

Please I wan say something make una nor vex. I believe the United States is the most technologically advanced country in the world. I have such high regards for them and I would hold their Visa process to be almost infallible. I believe background work is done before you arrive for your interview.
My interactions with the VO revealed that it is more than a single step process to get the US Visa. Even if the VO is biased, he cannot refuse your visa without sufficient evidence. In some cases insufficient evidence.
I believe that diplomacy plays a huge role in Visa approvals. I believe they have the maximum visas they can give at a particular time. This doesn't sound nice but it is actually very practical. Other countries like Canada actually admit to it. I do not believe that the United states has the capacity to admit everyone who qualifies for a Visa at all times.
In summary, inconsistency in your filled profile vs their background analysis can lead to refusal. Insufficient evidence like an unavailable old passport at the time of your interview can lead to a refusal. Insufficient background work can lead to a refusal. Insufficient resources to admit you as a visitor can lead to a refusal.

Most people here who claim to be non migrants actually intend to abscond maybe on their first visit or second visit, that's how they have been damaging our reputation.

I know many who under the guise of non migrant visa never came back and are stuck in US with their family they ran away with as illegals.

Why will a sane human use around 2million naira to run to a country he, his wife and kids will go and become illegals doing odd jobs and feel cool with it

They are tarnishing Nigeria's image abroad.

If they invest that 2million plus into several viable business opportunities here, believe me in no distant time they will become employers of labor and that's how our nation can grow not by fleeing the country and abandoning it to be ruled and ruined by some old fools that call themselves politicians.

Americans, Europeans, Asians, etc stayed in their nation, fought their useless politicians back then until they were able to build the nation of their dream that you all are craving to run to to ruin like Africa. We are too desperate as a people and that's our major problem, even those earning good income are desperate to travel abroad for no genuine reason other than to brag to their friends and colleagues; imagine spending money u don't have to impress people that don't even like u nor care about your existence, that's sickness! angry

I live abroad has expired, everything has time, Nigerians wake up, every nation is focusing on rebuilding their nation to greatness, we can't keep running from our national challenges.

Stop taking politics for granted as youths, rise up and join youth political movements and voice out and condemn every stupid leader that have caused Nigeria backwardness and underdevelopment.

After you secure visa and migrate to America to live as an illegal migrant, that's when u will appreciate Nigeria.

Stop disgracing Nigeria!

Stop trooping to America and Europe as tourist only to stay back there as illegal migrant looking for who to marry to secure papers enough of this nonsense!

You guys have killed Nigeria's image with your I must travel abroad desperateness, it has to stop! angry

he can take his money elsewhere, but it's his prerogative to get worked up or not, when he paid non refundable visa fees, had invested time (Sebi you people always say we should read from part 1-3,it costs time) and emotions.

it's OK to keep saying its a privilege and a not right, but don't castigate people on how they choose to feel.

even life itself is a privilege, people die everyday for no just cause, and yet we don't go about being happy about it just cos life is a privilege.

even in every business transaction, you do your due diligence, hope for the best, but at the same time, you have the worst case scenario at the back of your mind.

if the worst happens, even after considering the worst, you don't necessary have to feel good about it.

@seyewest I also had this issue. The section for filling in my previous educational background didn't appear on any of the two DS-160 forms I filled. I called the Embassy's customer care and they couldn't do anything. They said it was beyond their jurisdiction and I should fill only what I saw on the form. So I never filled previous educational history because that section wasn't in my DS-160

Both interviews were successful thank God.

Exceptions to the Notification Requirement

The requirement to notify the applicant of the grounds of refusal is subject to the following statutory exceptions:

Crime-related reasons for refusal: The requirement does not apply to a person found inadmissible for crime-related reasons.[28]
Security-related reasons for refusal: The requirement does not apply to a person found inadmissible for security-related reasons.[29] An applicant refused a visa for security grounds will not be told the reasons for refusal, but instead only be given a reference to the applicable statutory or regulatory section.[30]
Waiver by Secretary of State: The Secretary personally may waive the requirement for an individual or class of inadmissible persons.[31]
Despite those statutory exceptions, the Department of State still expects that written notices will still be provided to the applicant unless the consular officer has received specific approval from the Department not to provide a notice in a specific case or group of cases.[32] The Attorney General has mandated that “an agency should not withhold information simply because it may do so legally. I strongly encourage agencies to make discretionary disclosures of information.”[33] When posts explain the basis for refusal, certain information is not releasable by the consular post:

Classified information is not releasable.[34]

Law enforcement sensitive / sensitive but unclassified (SBU)[35]: This term refers to information the release of which could reasonably be expected to interfere with law enforcement proceedings, would deprive a person of a right to a fair trial or an impartial adjudication, could reasonably be expected to constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy, could reasonably be expected to disclose the identity of a confidential source, would disclose techniques, procedures, or guidelines for investigations or prosecutions, or could reasonably be expected to endanger an individual’s life or physical safety.

Did u click yes in one of the Security (Terrorist) Questions? SBU is related to law. Something on your form needs review from US. read above (no fear if its all accurately filled)

I was given 2 years visa to participate in a competition in USA from 12-18 but the dates of the competition will be clashing with my school exam. So I might not be able to go for the competition. I hope it won't affect me later when I intend to travel to USA by December this year for Xmas I don't want to be sent back at the point of entry USA because by then my motives of getting the visa will be different. I don’t think it should be an issue, at least at the Poe (my opinion only). But I hope you can understand why you may be viewed with skepticism next time. Obviously your school exams and this competition had been scheduled well in advance so you would have known about the clash and what choice you would have had to make.

Your post typifies what bothers me on these threads. It is clear that what you are advocating is using “conferences” as a fraudulent way to obtain a visa. You then end your post with your belief in God. Is your god one who turns a blind eye to misrepresentation? Yours is a prime example of why visa applications have become so difficult. It’s so hard to tell lies apart from the genuine these days.
