Hello everyone,firstly am happy I found this thread,and I think I can still make things right by the grace of God.
We paid Canreach a sum of 650k last year,one Sushma called to inform us that we were eligible to come into Canada,they didn't inform us that we were meant to write the exams before paying,
We wrote the Ielts Examination my score as the spouse was ok but that of my husband was not,so he rewrote unluckily he didn't score a high band either.
The painful thing is that we already paid,afterwards they became to reluctant in replying to mails,even when we call thier customer care lines they dnt pick.
The Sushma said she no longer works for them when we called.

My question now is,is it possible we end the contract with Canreach and start all over again.

Based on the things have read here I can see they are scam and I dnt want anyone to fall victim again.

We have already created a Wes account and also worked on our transcript.

Hunt Club , Nepean that brings goosebumps..stayed in ottawa for 10months got a better job and Moved to Edmonton...I stayed close to huntclub, my previous work was on antares drive and south keys shopping center was where I always shopped the walmart there ....

I heard kanata has good schools thou..most chinese people prefer the place.

One of the areas I am strongly considering is Nepean and Hunt Club as maternal recently suggested. Hunt Club sounds very interesting as my children are all very serious golfers ( in fact on some good days they decide they want to be pro golfers) don't know if I will be able to afford golfing for them over there but where there is a will there is a way ( even if it is for them to work as caddies).
Kanata I hear far oh! No plans of buying a car immediately oh! The rents are quite pricey too.
Gatineau from my little research is good for a young family ( as your children will not have problem with French, in fact, a second language is an advantage for pre school kids).

So please were your goose bumps the good or bad ones with regards to Nepean and Hunts Club?

Good ones I was living there previously and it was a good expereince over all, Lived on Paul Anka Drive and yes some golfing course around then..it can be pricey thou ..except u have freinds who play too...the more the merrier

We have the Toronto version called TRIEC. I got matched with a mentor not long ago. It's been an experience. I am hopeful that the programme will be beneficial to me.

In our introductory meeting, i met some naija people who were also matched the same time with me. One person said *** had to go physically to TRIEC office to get matched. Some said they wanted to be matched with elderly immigrants who had walked their path and now have their network of friends for them to tap their experience from. You really have little control over who you are matched with.

If you are in Toronto and surburbs and not yet matched, be on your TRIEC coach and if possible visit the TRIEC office to get matched.

Hello Nairaland Family! Been awhile I visited. Congrats to Bigfido, and to those who got their PPR and jobs.

I have had 3 weeks of lectures and it is not beans. Been immersed in my books, especially in my statistics course where 98% of the terms are new to me. While everyone in my class has a basic knowledge of the course and is progressing fast, I have to deal with my insufficient knowledge of the course. Enrolled my humble self in a virtual class , paid some cool dollars for it and I am making significant progress and will gradually get there before my first test on the course.I have obtained at least 4 degrees in Nigeria,, yet I was not taught all these. It is well with Nigerian Education.

Started driving here and it has been very helpful especially with taking the children to the Daycare and bringing them back home. We also got some discounts. Government is paying the bulk of the money while we pay the lesser fraction . Oga is preparing to leave for Naija. *sobs* . Hoping and praying my parents get their visas so they can help me out with this school runs as I have tests and assignments almost every week.

Not going to get a job now because I can't cope with job/school/home now. Until I have a support. I am hardly online these days but you are all in my heart.

NB: This shouldn't stop you from coming with your child/children. You too will be fine.

Not also sure of work from home , but you can search online...

Edmonton has an LRT for trains and a good bus system..but its rough compared to Ottawa ..rough as in lots of walking from bus or station to your house..so living near a station or bus is better.

I think Canada is generally safe..may be you need extra precautions. but dont worry too much on safety

Personally, I would consider transit time to work in choosing where to live. The LRT runs north to south from Clareview to Century Park so if you work downtown or along that route, I would consider somewhere close to LRT stations. I am kind of hesitant to mention any particular area as there is this debate about the north end of the city versus the south being the best, but my advice is find what works for you and your family. There is the North East, north west, Southeast, southwest and downtown.

For shopping, you should be able to find stores or strip malls within 15 minutes from anywhere if you live in the north. I'm not sure about the south.

For hospitals, when sick, people generally visit family doctors who have offices all over the place, sometimes only about 5 minutes drive from each other and only go to the emergency room for emergencies. Hospitals are usually for 'serious cases'.

It's not compulsory, but it's kind of a norm/courtsey and popular. I have do not tip for an hairdo, except a particular time when my kid gave the barber a tough time, but I have always tipped at a restaurant and in cabs. This is what keeps alot if waiters/waitress on the job. They usually make more on tips than their hourly wage. Infact an engineer I worked with still does table waiting on weekends cos of tips! Waiting at tables helped her with cost of schooling, and she is still waiting at tables for extra income

At restaurants, pos terminals have programmed tip options usually starting at 15%. I have also been to other restaurants where tips were not optional but compulsory e.g. fine dining ones.

All my Canadian employment letters have the term bi-weekly on them. Could do you a snapshot, but I risk disclosing the organization coz of the paper used. I have never come across an employment agreement with "bi-monthly" written on the contract. Not that it doesn't exist, but to the best of my knowledge, you'll be usually told bi-weekly. Because payroll is processed EVERY TWO WEEKS, every other Friday not twice in a month.
