Good.... CM (box-to-box) is one of Etebo's best two positions. The other is LM.

You are right that he is not in direct competition with Onazi. But the thing is this. If Mikel and Ndidi are sure starters, then the other third midfield slot (depending on the formation we play) will fall to one of Onazi, Etebo or Ogu.

If Etebo is picked, it means Ndidi plays DM, while Etebo plays CM.

If Onazi is picked, it means Onazi plays DM while Ndidi plays CM.

If Ogu is picked, it means we get to see how they both played against Argentina with Mikel. wink

It all boils down to Tactics and formation chosen. But in the end, people must remember that Onazi is assistant Super Eagles Captain and is a favorite to start games too.

Our starting WC midfield is still likely to be Mikel-Ndidi-Onazi. Changes will be subject to tactical tweaks and more. Time will tell.

Finally,... Just catching my breath two days after that atrocious display by the CHAN Eagles

I felt so ashamed watching the match,... each goal was like spear thrown through my heart....

Omo no be small something...., there is nothing anyone wants to tell me as the reason for that shambolic display and I will accept.

Our players couldn't do the simplest thing on the pitch..., they couldn't control the ball, they couldn't pass, the couldn't mark their men one-to-one, they couldn't cover their spaces, they were too stagnant and stiff, they were not flexible and fast enough

Osas and idouh ik went AWOL, they were on sabbatical... To think that two monikers here are arguing who was worst between the two shows how terrible they were on the night! The Moroccans were just strolling past all our players at will. They fuccked us on every side angry

It was more painful that we were taken to the cleaners without a fight

No matter the exodus of players overseas every season, is not an excuse for that humiliating display. We are the Brazil of Africa for God's sake!... No matter the exodus of Brazilian players to Europe year in year out, their clubsides still the American champions League 80% of the time, that shows football is tradition to them.

Football is tradition to us too, it is played in every nook and cranny of this country for fuccks sake! It is the only sport given top government priority yet we can't present a decent team.. This is unacceptable by all standards

I have seen better players than those headless things running around yesterday on the streets of Lagos, Calabar, Ogun, ibadan, Enugu, Aba, Abuja, kano, Jos, Minna, Katsina

Ball holding players and playmaker have been a West African thing right from immemorial. But I didn't see any ball holding player all tournament, no midfield maestro, no orchestrator,... No nothing

Rabiu Ali could not lead by example, this is a player that have played 3 CHAN tournaments

May it never be well with Salisu for parading these bunch of slowpokes as our best
My brother you're not alone on this. I was wincing in utter agony, disgust and discomfort all through the match duration something so unusual. although I didn't watch that stupid team till the end of the game. I stopped watching at 1:0 after a man down.

Well you can customize yours by adding NAIJA to it. But the default won't come with such. Naija is not even recognised officially and hardly used on anything official. It's a slang.

Your last paragraph has been what Tbaba1234 and I have been saying all along.

Talking about age. I know a good number of players that used their real age in football. Top on that list is my mentor: Emmanuel Amuneke. For the records, he graduated from Secondary school in 1989 (Cardoso High School, Badia-Ijora). He is my eldest brother's mate who graduated in 1988. Emma could not have been more than 18/19 when he left secondary school in 1989( people dey old for school those days). In 1991(2 years after leaving secondary school) he made his debut for our U23 team at the Cairo '91 AAG. Emma was born in 1970, meaning he was 21 in 1991. That was his real age.

Talking about Peter Ogaba. That guy was really small. He really encouraged most of we young players who were close to his age then. We bare the same first name (Peter). And I was nicknamed "Ogaba". A name that followed me till I finished secondary school. Some old friends still call me that name on Facebook. Hahaha. That boy was really small.

One of Emma's siblings by name Kingsley featured at the 1995 U17 WC. Same year he finished secondary school. Another indicator of real age.

Rohr Hints At Eagles Call Up For CHAN Eagles Left Back Ikouwem Udoh, List Out March 7th

The coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has hinted at a
possible invitation for CHAN Eagles left full back Ikouwem Udoh ahead of Nigeria first set of friendly games ahead of the World Cup in March.
Nigeria will take on Poland and Serbia in March in two high profile friendly games, and according to Rohr one player from the CHAN Eagles team that lost 0-4 to Morocco would be in the squad aside goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Ikouwem is reportedly the player in the plans of Rohr following his impressive display for the team after taking over the left back duties from the injured Daniel Itodo .

The 18 year old Enyimba defender won the heart of the coach, who is still searching for more options in the Super Eagles left back position despite having Brian Idowu, Elderson Echiejile and Ola Aina.

According to Rohr there is every likelihood that two player from the CHAN Eagles will make his squad for the friendly game but their identity won’t be made public now, until the list is out.

”At first we will do a provisional list for the two friendly games in March. I hope that Ezenwa will recover from his knee injury well on time and probably there will be one other player from this team ( CHAN Eagles) that will be invited”, Rohr revealed in a chat with Segun Ogunjimi of Sportinglife newspaper.

”Perhaps one or two of them will have a chance in a friendly. But I cannot announce yet our list for Poland and Serbia now. All of them will be monitored by our staff.
” I am sure by the beginning of March the list of players invited
to play the Poland and Serbia friendlies will be out”, the coach remarked.

Presidential Reception For CHAN Eagles Postponed Till Next Wednesday
By Adeboye Amosu

The much awaited presidential reception for players and officials of the home-based Super Eagles will now hold next Wednesday in Abuja, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Home Eagles came second at the African Nations Championship in Morocco after going down to a 4-0 defeat against the hosts in the final fixture in Casablanca on Sunday.
The contingent arrived from Morocco early Tuesday morning and were earlier scheduled to proceed to the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja where they were to be hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.

“The reception will take place next week Wednesday as against today which was earlier announced,” the team coordinator, Patrick Pascal, informed CSN.
“They didn’t give us any reason for the postponement but we are hopeful that it will hold next week as planned.
“Even though we are still waiting for final confirmation from the sports minister, all things being equal the boys will get the chance to see the President next week.
“They deserve it if you consider how poor we performed in 2016 and the fact that many people did not give them the chance to make it to the final in Morocco.”

EXCLUSIVE: Rohr picks CHAN Eagles stars Ezenwa, Stephen Eze for World Cup
By Samm Audu

SCORENigeria can exclusively report that Gernot Rohr has two players from 2018 CHAN to be part of his World Cup preparations – goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and central defender Stephen Eze.

“Rohr has decided to pick Ezenwa and Eze for his World Cup preparations and it is now up to the two players to fight for a place in the final squad to Russia,” a top official informed only SCORENigeria

Nigeria reached the final of the CHAN in Morocco, where they lost to the home team.

Ezenwa was already widely tipped for Russia 2018 after his five-star displays in more recent World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon and Zambia.
He also enhanced his high ratings with superlative displays at the CHAN in Morocco.

He is expected to soon recover from a knee injury he suffered in Morocco.

Stephen Eze, on the other hand, has for months been on the radar of Rohr since the CHAN qualifiers in Cotonou last year.
The effective giant central defender, who is already bound for Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Plodiv, played every minute as Nigeria reached the championship game at the CHAN in Morocco.

Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye’s chances may have been undone by the 4-0 spanking Nigeria suffered in the CHAN Final after his Man-of-the-Match performance against Sudan in the semi-final.

Rohr has already announced he will name his squad for two important World Cup warm-up matches against Poland and Serbia by the first week of next month.

The Eagles are away to Poland on March 23, before they battle Serbia March 27 in London.

Onyekuru says he will be back for Belgian league playoffs, insists no surgery

Henry Onyekuru has said he hopes to return to action in time for the Belgian championship playoffs next month and has again insisted his knee injury does not require surgery.

Onyekuru has told various media outlets he will fit to feature for Anderlecht in the championship playoffs as he hopes to press for a place on Nigeria World Cup squad to Russia in June.
Champions Anderlecht are third on the table on 46 points with five rounds of matches to be played till the end of the regular season.

The forward, who has rejoined Anderlecht after rehabilitation at parent club Everton, has again restated his injury does not require surgery.

The Anderlecht medical team has said Onyekuru will need to be operated on and he could be out for several weeks as a result.

NFF: CHAN Eagles To Get $400k, Not $750k, CAF Prize Money

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have officially released the cash payments of all teams that participated at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, with second-placed Nigeria to earn the sum of $400,000 and not $750,000 as widely reported, the Nigeria Football Federation explained in a press release on Wednesday.

Official figures have now shown that hosts and champions Morocco will pocket the sum of $750,000, with silver medallists Nigeria to earn $400,000 and semi finalists Sudan (eventual bronze medallists) and Libya to pocket the sum of $250,000 each.

The four teams that crashed out at the quarter-final stage Namibia, Zambia, Angola and Congo will each earn $175,000, while the third-placed teams in each of the four preliminary groups will get $125,000 each.
The fourth-placed teams in each of the four groups will each
get $100,000.

“CAF has spread the monies in such a way that each of the 16 participating teams at the finals would benefit. No team has received its share yet, but once the finance and audit people conclude their work in a number of weeks, the teams will be paid,” NFF President Amaju Pinnick, a member of both the CAF Executive Committee and the CAF Emergency Committee, told thenff.com on Wednesday.

This means Home Eagles’ players and officials, who have been promised 30 per cent of the bonus by the Nigeria Football Federation, will have to wait to get their money.

Super Eagles Striker Aaron Samuel Nets First Hat-Trick For CSKA Moscow

Nigeria international Aaron Samuel bagged a hat-trick as CSKA Moscow crushed Spanish club FC Torrevieja 7-0 in their final warmup game staged at their training camp in Campoamor on Wednesday afternoon.
Samuel broke the deadlock in the 13th minute and the scoreboard was unchanged at the end of the first half.

Two minutes after the intermission, the Nigerian doubled CSKA Moscow's advantage and any hopes the opponents had of mounting a comeback were put to bed when he grabbed in his first hat-trick for the club in the 56th minute.

Fedor Chalov netted a treble in the second half plus an additional goal from Vitalik Gironkin secured a win for the Muscovites.
Leicester City loanee Ahmed Musa was not utilized by manager Viktor Goncharenko after going the distance and scoring two goals against Elche on Tuesday.

Samuel recently dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Norwegian team Molde before the close of the winter transfer market in the country.
