Gonna make this short....

Started feeling pain exactly a year ago during NYSC at Kano on my right breast, did some online inquiry and suspected Gynecomastia, as i wasn't so sure, i went to the community hospital and the Doctor said it's what i suspected, and said it was as a result of Hormonal imbalance, he gave me drug prescription, which i took to the Pharmacy and sadly they had just one of the three, as i wasn't sure of taking an incomplete dosage, i didn't buy the drug... Sadly while packing my stuffs at the end of the service year i left the drug prescribed for me at Kano, now it seems the Gynecomastia won't go, although there as been no real increase in the size, but i still can't wear tight hug shirts like i used to...... need an advice on what to do, and by the way am 23.....
although a medical friend said it will go away with time, he's still a medical student though..

I think you should meet an endocrinologist. You probably have hormonal problems. I think you produce high levels of estrogen.

Endocrinologists are experts when it comes to hormonal issues, they will be able to treat you well

Also, once you stop talking the drugs, the breasts will grow back

Try to do work out that focus on your chest, I heard it helps to reduce the reduce the fat. Or you can do binding

But please, try to meet an endocrinologist

This is what binding looks like

Dear sir,

You should go to the hospital, tell the doctor -better an endocrinologist what the problem is and the drugs you were given the last time.

But, ask the doctor to check for other things besides the hormones. Either tumors are secreting the hormones, this can be tested for, or the liver is not functioning well to breakdown the excess hormone.

Also, tell the doctor about other drugs you're taking, other diseases you have and if there is a family history of similar or related illnesses.

Check the semen as well if that's where the problem is or if that has been affected

Bottomline, see a doctor... All the best

I really have no idea about BP. But it's great to see you that you went to a doctor. Everything should be easier when you do the blood test.

Bro you jus told my story. I have been battling gynecomastia for the past 3 years now, I also noticed it for the first time back then in NYSC camp bauchi state, I was also told it will disappear with time on its own(I believed the doctor and didn't get any drugs) but this has not been the case as it has more than doubled over this 3 years period. Am presently considering surgery to completely remove it and then initiate testosterone therapy

There is only one solution to this embarrassing condition, and that is surgical extraction of the fatty tissue.

No amount of exercise will get rid of that female breast tissue in a man.

No drug will have any effect whatsoever on that deformity.

Look for a competent doctor, pay for the surgery, and be freed for life, from that condition, after a one-hour surgical procedure that is by the way VERY bloody, though harmless if handled by a qualified and experienced surgeon.

Had the surgery myself many moons ago. Best money I ever spent till date. I remember showing off at the beach, free from the stigma, after that surgery. I had been pumping iron HARD, for a good while before the surgery, in a futile bid to burn off that nasty fat tissue, but it was only when the surgery was done that I was finally free from the condition.

The cuts were made right on the nipple, so that there are no scars after the procedure. The surgeon commented on the unusually large quantity of blood that gushed out while he worked, but that was likely due to the muscle mass I created in the weight room, which is richly supplied with blood vessels.

Do not listen to those who tell you to try testosterone. There are major deadly health risks associated with ALL hormonal treatments, so once again, your ONLY option is surgery, and that will solve the matter for LIFE. Choose your surgeon with EXTREME care, if you live in Nigeria, so that you don't wind up in the hands of Baba Mukaila Eleran for this delicate job, which, if handled incorrectly, could cause nerve damage, and leave you with numb patches on your skin.

My operation was carried out by a doctor whose office was at the time located on North Mountain Avenue, in Ontario, Southern California, not far from Ontario Airport.

That said, there are bound to be competent doctors who can carry out the procedure in absolute safety if you happen to live in Nigeria, though you will need to exercise due diligence in selecting the doctor to perform this simple procedure with the precision that is essential, to prevent complications post-surgery.

My surgery was done under local anesthetic, so after being given a couple of small injections on the chest, I could sit up fully conscious to observe the process, which was accompanied by a loud repetitive scraping noise, as the doctor separated my skin from the underlying tissue with a blunt instrument, while a steady stream of blood was vacuumed off by the nurse. It is vital the surgeon ensures ALL the fatty tissue beneath the nipple is cleanly removed, including the two narrow string-like structures called "tails" that extend upwards toward each armpit, along the lateral edges of the chest (pectoralis) muscle.

For week or two at the most after the surgery, the doctor will leave a tiny drain-pipe in the stitched-up cut through which the surgery was performed, to empty out fluids as the healing takes place under a light wound dressing. When that dressing comes off, and the tiny drain-pipe is extracted, there will still be some minor swelling that will subside completely in another week or so, at which point this minor medical condition that has inconvenienced you for so long, will cease to be a part of your life, forever.

Once again, do NOT pick an doctor whose reputation cannot be thoroughly investigated, because the are are risks of nerve damage or even infection that can ONLY be minimized by putting yourself in the hands of the most highly qualified and experienced surgeon one can afford.

All the best, my brother, and remember, don't allow anyone to steer you into hormonal treatment. That chit is really bad news to the human body. Surgery is your ONLY viable and SAFE option, if handled by the right doctor.

My kid brother has gynaescomastia, I contacted a plastic surgeon in Lagos via their instagram page, Grandville med and laser. They said the surgery will cost N1m which we can't afford at the moment. Still looking for a permanent solution to my brothers man boob's. It's so big and it's beginning to fall, it has greatly reduced his self esteem. I'm so worried.

1Million is crazily much! I am going to be doing my own surgical operation at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). I have been booked for surgery by the end of December, and the last time I inquired for the price from a senior surgeon who is in the field in the same LUTH, said less than 50k because it going to be done under a local anaesthesia (it a mild case just the left breast) but I don't know if this is for the whole process (including admission fee, drugs and other necessities).

I will keep you updated on the fee but try to give me a mention by December 20th, because I am to check the clinic for Pre-Operation which I will be getting the price and other vital information.

The only problem is you may have to parade that place for a long time before they finally conclude your OP date. I have been going there since January of this year.

I made an inquiry on the price which I was told 118k because I will be put to sleep during the process, I countered the statement by telling the consultant that I was to told by the most senior surgeon it costs less than 50k to carryout under a local anesthesia (involves being awake during the process). The consultant later said price for local anesthesia is now 65k but until then they would know if it Local, Intermediate or Major.

I suspect it just a way of extortion from me, I will stand on the ground of local because all gynecomastia surgery I have watched online is done under local anesthesia.

Price is as follows Lagos University Teaching Hospital:

Local (involves being awake) - 65k
Intermediate (sleeping) - 118k
Major (patient with cancer) - 178k

Interesting ... But won't you feel any pain while being awake during the process? Although mine is just on my left breast and it's getting really bigger...

the breast should be injected I can't recall the name of the suppose substance you will feel how it is carried out but no pain attached. Mine is also left sided and size is stagnant for a few years till date

I think you should be discharged maximum of three days if possible that same day if done under local anesthesia, healing process should start from 3weeks to see a sizable amount of difference
