I twisted nothing.... That '95 friendly was executed by a good number of the '94 Eagles too. We all use '94 to reference the golden generation but everyone knows that in my own analysis I always say it extends from 1990-early 2000s. '94 is just the ref point of that first golden generation. Finito.

'96 too is there... But I refer to a period I saw a similar jersey used. That '94 eagles team that also played that Wembley friendly.

I maintain that some elements of the '94 white jersey (the exact color intensities) and some elements of the '95 Wembley Friendly jersey (the sleeve's wavy design with black and then some) were picked and merged alongside other elements to create this beautiful white/light green combo..... A true re-invented throwback to the first golden generation especially to the period between '94 and '95. Tu comprends? wink

And you and this Flying Eagles team sef.... You never tell us if na you NFF give the job to sef ahead of 2019.... undecided

You just they twist your words dey go. I just dey look you. Do you know how many jerseys we used in the 1990 to 95 era? If you are referring to the 1994 Jersey just stick to it. If it the 1992 or 95 jersey, just stick to it.

After all I dey my own dey think about our next Flying Eagles, na you come say make come talk about Jersey.

I was not so eager to see the new Jerseys in the first place.

Hahaha dey there. In 2006 AFCON Ghana was forced by CAF to change their jerseys in their last group game, I have forgotten the opponent. Their two Jersey options clashed with both options of their opponents who were the home team in the fixture. They had to quickly organize an all black Jersey for that game.

The Jerseys are beautiful to the eyes. I only have issues with (1) the shades of green and (2) fact that the two options are both green. I hope we will not be forced to look for another Jersey to play an opponent just like the Ghana case. That is what I mean by FIFA not approving.
Must it be us that FIFA would direct to look for another Jersey? So the opponent say Mexico cannot be directed to look for another Jersey. It must be us. I'm just asking sha

I agree with you on this. Black/dark color and most deep colour shades are known good absorbers of heat. I think our deep green coupled with the material of the jersey will come in handy too in that aspect...... Thanks for bringing it up. smiley

profosa:
please guys note that some of the shades of colour may have been chosen because of the weather condition in russia.different shades of colour retain heat differently.

It's unarguable that the home Jersey is a retro design harking back to the glorious era of our football even if the Jersey was not worn in 94 but then the 94 set wore it in that friendly. Most nations too used retro designs.

It's incredible, frankly, ,and is bound to turn us all into Super Eagles in the summer.

That is the part that caught my attention most in the rankings statement for Nigeria's "Glorious" jersey.

Another dimension to look at it.

But you know the WC would be played in summer. Though the Russian summer may not be as warm as some other parts of Europe but it is not likely to be too cold all the same.

So to the physics of the colours now: Darker colours absorb heat while lighter colours reflect heat or have lesser tendencies to absorb heat.

The heat we are talking about here doesn't just mean high temperature (or hot weather). It is talking about the general atmospheric temperature (weather hot or cold)

What it literarily means is that Dark colored cloths would easily absorb the surrounding temperatures be it hot or cold. So going by this principle that dark green jersey would absorb a lot of the Russian temperature which even though it would be summer but would still be cooler than most other parts of Europe. Which will definitely be a disadvantage to us.

TheSuperNerd, I know you are science inclined. What do you have to say about this?

I no be science guy ooo but I don't agree with this. Shey Nike would not put what is so manifestly clear to you into consideration when I'm sure it's not just one person that designed the Jersies but a whole team of experts.

Notice this:all the nations like Morocco, Russia, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland that wore same old Jersies took backseat. Nations like Nigeria, Colombia, Japan that were daring enough to add some jazz and flair came out tops.

Now we have scored well on the fashion scene. Let's go do it on the field of play. Go Eagles, go!!!!

In a fixture: Team A vs Team B. Team A assumes the position of the home team while Team B is the away team. Team A has the advantage of choosing jerseys first of which they always chose their home Jersey And Team B would now have to chose their away jersey.

Though Mexico are not in this WC. But if we are to play a Team that the Home Jersey is either Green on green or Green on white and they assume the home team position what do we do?
Since both our home and away jerseys (tops in particular) are green. We will have to look for something else to wear. It happened to Ghana at the 2006 AFCON.

FIFA cannot allow two teams to wear the same colour and play on the same pitch even if they are of different shades.

I was just speaking in principle and of course they may have used materials that will take care of that. But as I said, just speaking in principle.

I am watching the game against Schalke he is on the bench.

So you think he is better than Origi And that Wolfsburg are being unfair to him One game doesn't make a player, it's consistent continous top class performances that get you noticed.

When watching the game do not look at your player alone but in comparison to other players to measure his performance. That's called having a balanced objective view some here call that being biased against our players.

I never said he was better than Origi right now if you read my statement, I only made a point that wolfsburg were mandated to play Origi in at least 80% of their game....

like most young players, they need games to unleash their full potential..if he gets continuous games from the game I saw, that lad has huge potentials..from that game his style was similar to a young energetic drogba, I wish you could get to wAtch that game hannover game to see what I'm talking abt..

There was one aerial ball he contested with 2 opponent only for him to chest and control in mid-air, loosing his markers in the process..that one single act was just reminded me of drogba.. U need to rmbr knowing how to that requires a sense of perfect timing of aerial balls..

I think it would not be a huge problem for us but just a challenge we must manage and overcome strategically. We will be dealing with the cold weather/climate as we are coming from a Warmer climate as a nation but of course most of our euro-based players have seen the cold of Europe during winter in England, Belgium, Turkey, etc and a few more have seen that of Russia which is far more unique (Idowu and Musa).

Our deep/dark green Jersey coupled with the heat retaining material underneath will see our players retain heat more than lose heat during match day actions.

As for our light green/white combo, being of colors that do not absorb heat, well, I hope the material has a kind of heat retaining mechanism underneath it/embedded into it to aid our players to cope with the cold climate too. I hope the NFF worked out the details on this one before release... I trust they did. Or if they haven't, well they still got time now. They should get it done.

I wonder what nations wearing white are gonna do... Thought about that? I think this heat-retention mechanism will be employed technologically by most teams with brighter jersey colors anyway. Nothing new.

Yeah, that true, Mexico are in it.

Using the same colour. That is what I am talking about. But guys here are carried away by the aesthetic designs. What is wrong with our conventional. Green home Jersey and white away jersey. They can put different designs but let the principal colours be dominant.

I don't want us to go too much into the physics of this because of the general house. I just want to drop one principle ; materials that easily absorb heat easily loss heat. Dark colours would easily absorb the heat (which would be cold temperature in the case of Russia) now losing the heat would mean the material transferring part of the heat into the human body. It doesn't directly retain the heat as you put it. What can isolate the body is maybe a particular membrane attached to the inner parts of the jerseys to insulate it from the human body. That is where the technology comes in.

It is a revers of the conditions for the light coloured Jerseys.

But no worries, cos I believe the Nike technology experts would have put all those into consideration.
