Depression is a serious problem within the greater atheist community and far too often, that depression has led to suicide. This is something many of my fellow atheists often don’t like to admit, but it is true. I know a lot of atheists, myself included, would all like to believe that atheists are happier people than religious believers and in many ways we are. But we also have to accept the reality that in some very important ways we are not.

Do i not said that earlier, depression is a normal reaction to loss or life struggles. But when intense sadness -- including feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless -- lasts longer it become unbearable and may lead to suicide. Since many religious are trainned to keep on hoping through prayer and counselling from their member, priest and clergy men. They tend to overcome the situation far better than non religious folks. But at times like this i expect you to give atheists credit.
People dont become atheist out of indoctrination. It is a decision they make after thinking through what they have been thought. after asking question and finding no answers.
They are bold enough to call God (a name that brings every theist to his knee) bullshit. it takes a large amount of self will and trust to do this. We call God a bluff and tell ourselves we can handle life on our own... thats self belief and inner strength. how dare u associate such boldness with suicide?

but at the end of the day we are humans. everyone has his threshold and breaking point. Dont just point accusing fingers when we break like everyone does.
If you understand that theists who claim to have a God they run to in times of despair can be suicidal, you should also understand that atheists who claim to have themselves for survival can also be suicidal.
