Taliban:Kai,Teslim Balogun,i did not watched him playing but read and heard a lot about him.On record he was the first Nigerian to play professional football with Peterborough and QPR in England. He was a leading scorer of Nigeria team known as UK tourist team captain by Dan Ayiam. It was after UK tourist team tour of England that he signed a professional contract, very good striker according to history with powerful shot and good pace. There was this old fable that his shot ripped through keeper's stomach and came out at the back, just to tell you how popular he was and rated. John Chiedozie remain one of the early Nigerian to play in Europe, he had his first professional contract with Leyton Orients in 1977 and played for clubs such as Notty county,Derby county and had a massive transfer of £375k to Tottenham Hotspur second to Justin Fashanu who was signed £1M and the first black player to be signed with a million pounds in the world. He had nine appearanced for super eagles and scored two goals but find it difficult to dislodged Segun Odegbami who was a great winger and later Benjamen Nzeakor,Uwem Ekarika and Wole Odegbami to contend with but very talented winger. John Chiedozie was one of the early Nigerians in English league cos at at that time we have Justin Fashanu Notwich and Nottingham Forest,John Fashanu Wimbledon and Asyon Villa,Remi Moses Manchester united,John Salako Crystal palace and Reuben Agboola Swansea. He was a face of LIFEBUOYS SOAP in the 80s and was very popular on TV in one of LIFEBUOYS soap advertisement, conferred with order of Niger(OON)by ex President Olusegun Obasanjo. Mudashiru Gbolahan Lawal named Mercurial by great sports commentator Ernest Okonkwo,he had his football career with Shooting Stars,Stationary stores,Abiola Babes and retired in his favorite Shooting Stars in 1991. Muda Lawal had 86 caps and scored 12 goals as DM/CM for Eagles. He appeared in five Afcon namely 76,78,80,82 and 84.He was member of 1980 winning Afcon team captain by Christian Chuckwu. Muda Lawal remain one of the best midfield player to come out of Africa especially Nigeria and till today it is an arguments who was better between him and Sunday Olishe but those who watched both always saying Muda Lawal was better but when we talked of modern day midfielder Olishe nick it.He was named Africa football ambassador by Nigeria government for his great contribution to the game and highly recognised by CAF. Most of Nigerians midfielders in the 80s looked up to Lawal for inspiration.I remember Ademola Adeshina comprehensive interview on Nigeria football,he said Muda Lawal was the best midfielder to come out of Africa. He said when he got his first invitation to eagles through coach Father Tiko.He narrated how Father Tiko called him(Adeshina) and Muda Lawal to his room and said "look Muda i called this guy(Adeshina)to camp to learn from you not to displace you".As at that time most midfielders find it difficult to bench Muda cos he was a genius. Muda Lawal die at the aged of 37 but was never benched in eagles colour through out his career than spanned 11 years. He remain one of the humblest Eagles player that listened to young Stephen Keshi 22 years at Afcon 84 when Onigbinde surprisedly named Keshi as captain. On comparison with present Eagles, well am seeing Ndidi Wifred humble Muda Lawal and Sunday Olishe soon if he can maintain the tempo of his game and be disciplined but for now he has Muda Lawal's record to beat. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Mujtahida: Hope is being expressed because they have moved from mere potential to quality proven players who are on the ascendancy. Every player has potential proving it is another matter with consistent continous top class performances is the issue. With regards to SE selection for what you call the innit boys of which some may speak more Nigerian languages than you do. It should be about perfomance first then the politics of selection comes in for boys who will NEVER pay settlement fees. There are no doubters assessment is not based on sentiment. Prove your ability that's all its very simple. Lookman played his first game in the Bundesliga after coming on for barely 10 minutes and impacted the game and scored. Batshuayi a bit player at Chelsea comes on in the Bundesliga for Borussia and almost scores a hattrick. Again this highlights the quality of the EPL. But then I am biased I guess. 1 Like |

Kog45: Good one Sire. On John Chiedozie, I first knew him as the Lifebuoy soap boy before I knew he was a Green Eagles player. " This is John Chidozi *in Oyinbo accent* (That advert should be on youtube).Though a fringe player due to the quality of wingers we had in the team then (Odegbami and Adokiye). I have said it before that most of our players of the 70s and 80s up to early 90s were greatly underrated and undervalued. If players like Segun Odegbami, Adokiye, Christian Chukwu, and Muda Lawal were to be playing today they would be in the best clubs in Europe. They would easily walk into the present Super Eagles. On your comparison of Muda Lawal with Wilfred Ndidi, I still give it to Muda. Ndidi has yet to achieve close to what Muda achieved even in his early years in the Eagles. The player that would come close to Muda is Oliseh. But you are right about Oliseh being of the modern era. Most of Yekini's goals came from Oliseh's through passes. I have not seen Ndidi doing that yet. Ndidi is more of a tackler/blocker, not surprising as he started off as a CB. If Ndidi can improve on his long passes, then he will turn out about our best DM. On Salako and John Fashanu, reminds me of those days when we were practically kneeling down for them to switch allegiance to Nigeria. Top notch analysis from you especially remembering those market value figures. Tuale baba. One more thing, you remember that story of "Thunder Balogun remember your left leggg!!!!!". Icon4s:Its a general idea of kit manufacturing companies bro. For instance Man. U wears their home kit as red shirts, white shorts and black socks. But when the aforementioned scenerio springs up, you see the Red Revils wear black shorts in place of the white one. Another example is Chelsea's blue shirts, blue shorts and white socks. And when necessary, you see them in all-blue. That's how it is bro 2 Likes |

NFF Boss Backing Osimhen, Nwakalis, Ndidi, Iheanacho & Ebuehi To Be Picked For 2022 World cup Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick is looking ahead to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. With the Super Eagles boasting one of the youngest squads amongst the 32 participating countries in Russia, Pinnick has predicted that the current squad will perform better in the next four years. ''It is not the number of merchandising, marketing or funds coming through sponsorship, it is the fact that we have a young team, we have a young team that can play two Nations Cup conveniently, we have a young team that can play two World Cups,'' said Pinnick to Channels Television '' Look at Victor Osimhen, look at the Nwakalis, just look at those players, Tyronne, Brian lots of them, Kelechi and Ndidi. Look at the statistics, Nigeria is the youngest team going to this World Cup. ''I keep saying to my colleagues and we joke about it. That our team will be better prepared for the 2022 World Cup than this World Cup. ''I believe we are going to spring a surprise at this World Cup because there is one thing that counts for the Super Eagles right now, team spirit.'' According to Swiss-based independent study centre CIES Football Observatory, Super Eagles of Nigeria fielded the youngest team during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, with an average age of 24.9 years. **Ifeanyi Emmanuel Source: http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=26529 Russia 2018 WC Countdown: 125 days 4hours to go 5 Likes 1 Share |

Mujtahida: no he didn't. It was a poor tackle no doubt, but it was a stamp on the ankle, it was a yellow card offence everyday of the week. The only debateable instance in that match was a penalty Osaze should have been awarded when he was grappled by Evra but such things happen constantly so nothing there. I mean Dzeko hada perfectly legitimate goal ruled out against us, is that bias against European teams? |
