So sorry about the loss. Phone is already useless, thief has not been able to put it on that's why it's showing offline.

Quite painful. But why these thieves no wan dey learn Rather than rendering someone's phone useless, why can't they even pickup up the owners call and return the phone. If na money they wan collect, no problem.

sad

Ask around in Òsogbo. If you're replacing the whole screen, it's easy to DIY with the help of YouTube (if necessary).

Factory reset won't help the thief, after successful doing the factory reset, he'll be required to login your miui account and password to continue.

what i meant is that the thief could boot the phone into recovery mode and format it.

If the phone isn't locked on time.

*modified **

If you are on stock rom, it'll be difficult to format the phone.

You mean fastboot mode?

the option that shows options for recovery , apply update from sd etc.
the android startup page with open heart of the android

Saying the same thing, that won't help, after formatting or wiping he cannot bypass the Mi Password when he boots the phone up.

If you have tempered with your rom, you are on your own.

The security features work well with stock rom, 'unsullied' wink

Guys, sorry to bother you all, my Xiaomi device was stolen last night, I have activated the lost mode through the Mi cloud, but the phone is already showing offline, is there anything else I can do to minimize the chances of the phone ever being useful to the thief? Or possibly recover my phone? (I know that's not likely).
Meanwhile I need to buy another budget friendly Redmi to use for now, please does anyone have Redmi 5A or similar stock in Nigeria at the moment, don't really want to wait for aliexpress, if anyone wants to sell their fairly used too, we can negotiate. Thanks
sorry about the loss. cry, I believe the thief has just added to his or her burden. More blessings

Exactly... That's what one of my oga for police force talk oooo. Its dangerous buying a second hand phone if one don't really know the person...

U have to take ur time to verify that the phone is not stolen.

If bootloader don dey unlocked and the thief na stubborn person, the next step na to put the phone for fastboot mode using test - point. Next na to flash custom rom. Phone don go be dat. But this na very extreme case.

The koko be say, leave you bootloader intact.
