Yes! Sad we don't have anything remotely like those trains in Nigeria. The sad and baffling thing is that Nigeria has more than enough money to purchase hundreds of those trains, and expand our rail networks to cover the entire length and breadth of our nation. Those trains are comfy like there's no tomorrow. I've ridden in them so many times. I wish we had something half this good in Nigeria.

I had you and SmooshCHN in mind once I saw the thread. I also noticed from the picture, the spacing between each row is distant enough for even a tall person; I may be wrong. Then again, I believe they built thes themselves and not call on any country to do so. If they had called on another country, I am positive the would not have had the number of HS trains they do now and this brings me to asking: when do we get things right here? When are we going to appreciate our own just like China did theirs? I remember then, people insulting their products, but now, many Nigerians try to order things from them. Same happened with the Japs, they were criticized by Western countries on their inferior products but now, they rule in certain advanced fields. Be that as it may, China's trains cannot surpass those of the Japanese for now because it seems those guys constantly improve the speed of theirs.

You nailed it square and hard! The Japanese Shinkasen trains are the standard upon which China and Korea built their next generation trains. The Japanese are on another level when it comes to building trains just as the South Koreans are with building ships. You see what the Chinese did was learn from technologically advanced nations, emulate their technologies and use the technological know-how to make /build structures, machines, trains, cars etc with Chinese characteristics. China was a poor country some forty or so years ago but today, China is the second largest economy in the world! While our past leaders were busy pillaging the nation they were supposed to steer to prosperity, China was busy building an enabling country to attract foreign direct investment. While our leaders were engaging in wanton debauchery, the Chinese were busy building roads, schools, hospitals, affordable houses and expanding its public transportation networks. While they were busy building strong financial institutions, our leaders were busy filling international institutions with looted money. Sometimes when I travel around China and see the level of transformation taking place, I weep in my heart for Nigeris and the entire sub-Saharan Africa. Will we ever get things right in Nigeria? In this age and time, Nigerians are still suffering from epileptic electricity supply! It's pathetic!
