First off, from the story, they've been friends but the dude caught feelings along the line while the girl dearly loved their friendship. Giving his kidney was what a true friend would do and what she owes him in return is appreciation for giving her life back.

Secondly, from her response, she doesn't love him but like him 'cause if she did, she won't have said she wanted to think about it as she values their relationship more than marriage.

You should understand something. That you gave a lady something out of your own volition, no matter its worth doesn't mean the second you propose she has to say yes. Saying yes when there's no love will be compensating the guy for what he did and marriage where the love is unrequited is the worse marriage anyone should go into. Love is the basis on which any marriage would flourish and then we will look at compatibility in other areas. And don't forget it's a life time commitment.

Guy didn't play it well. He should have warmed his way to the girl before popping the question. If he'd played his cards well and waited a lil longer after the surgery for the girl to realise what he did for her and trip, she'd have said yes. He just gave her his kidney and proposed to her. That's like blackmail.

This is not an ordinary help.

Half of the guy is living and breathing within the lady. The guy would have died as a result and they were together before he denoted his kidney and the lady must have known before the donation that the guy loved her and what’s to move the relationship higher. Any lady out there knows which guy among her many friends wants them beyond friendship.

The lady would have stopped him, she didn’t because she was selfish. If a guy who is interested in you starts buying you expensive gifts or about to sacrifice their lives in other to save yours, you should stop them and tell them that, you don’t love them the way they do to you and despite their sacrifice, the relationship will not go anywhere.

Don’t wait until you have fully benefited from their live saving sacrifice to tell them No.
