I find it strange how the Igbos seem to think they can do or say whatever they like without fear of repercussions . I always knew that no man's land talk would backfire. I sometimes can't reconcile how some people who can be as smart as geniuses behave so stupidly the next minute.a typical yoruba man knows he is supposed to behave himself when he is in the north or east, even the hausas know this. but the igbo man surprisingly, maybe because of their wandering ways think he should behave in a more annoying and aggressive manner away from home to survive. well I think this is also why they are able to make it away from their comfort zones. but all in all, it won't make for a happy ending.

Sincerely, before the No man's land slogan on nairaland. I never really paid attention to Lagos been a Yoruba state but more of a Nigerian state and home to all Nigerians but since the Igbos started the "No man's land" slogan I have had dislike for some of them.

Even in my neighborhood where I live I walk into circle of Igbo guys talking bad about Yoruba people here in Lagos and you begin to wonder are these not the same people who their properties in Lagos was returned to them when they left during the War, the same people my Grandfather collected rent for his Igbo friend who had to go back to the east during the War and returned his money after the War. These gestures were not showed to them by their kins (the Ikwerre people) after the war. Yoruba people have done nothing but love the Igbos but they always reciprocate with hate.

They have always nursed the thought of taking over Lagos because of its Glamour.

They are the only ones who feels you have no right as a Yoruba or Hausa man in the East but feel they must have equal right with you in the West and North.

They see Yorubas as too gentle a people because they can't try an inch of what they are doing to Yoruba's with the Hausa -Fulanis.
Those ones have instilled fear into them so they know their place when in the core North.

@op in as much you raised some valid points,I think the main reason why that bill was passed and passed very quickly is because of the Oba of Lagos and other prominent Eko indigenes who had of late through words and actions been trying to align with Benin.some of them have come out to say that Lagos is not part of Yoruba land.
but I can see how excited some people are already.anything to make them feel better is ok.

You just described their manner of reasoning, I have come to discover that the best way to turn a fool into a wise man is to call him a fool repeatedly, because he would surely suprise you one day.the igbos are still in shock what their chest beating and inconsiderate aggression has caused, hear how silent the thread is,I think they know it might have been worse, and they aren't sure if it's just the beginning. the day Obiano himself said they built lagos was the day I knew how tact less they can be. the truth is if we wish to chase them out of Yorubaland, we only need to Stoke the flames they started by calling our lands no man's land.

Don't mind the dumb arses gloating. Making Yoruba compulsory does not change anything, it will rather re.tard the growth of the indigenes. They will eventually revert the law when it backfires. Purely misplaced priority.

The igbos are incorrigible. I really don’t know what is wrong with them. About Akinphysicist, I never took particular notice of him or the said thread but I am elated by the fact that we have such committed men.

I see myself in that light and I am committed to railroad these strangers out of Lagos and to reclaim our land from ungrateful neighbors. The fact is igbos don’t know that future policy makers and influencers in yorubaland are present on Nairaland. They think we are here to play with them. You can’t keep insulting the hospitality of the Yorubas and think things will go well. The next phase now is to wait and see what igbos will do them we move to the violent stage of the struggle.

I pray igbos prove stubborn in Lagos so that our area boys can be given marching orders to deal with them ruthlessly. We must instill the fear of God in the igbos because I know they are stubborn goats.

The law does not affect federal-owned tertiary institutions only state owned institution like Laspotech, Lasu and other mediocre state institutions which none of my relative can never attend. Anambra also has a similar 'subakwa Igbo' law.

Please no derailing of this thread. Its a call on all smart and proactive Igbos on NL to begin to make moves that will promote our interests anywhere in Nigeria UNTIL the zoo splits up. Its a call for action. Not a call for baseless and useless rantings.
I hate that tag, "no man's land". Its completely baseless and misplaced priority. Our collective goal should be how to repatriate our investment back home, and possibly build on a strong synergy with our Southern Igboid brothers to build a vibrant economy, down East. But nay, our brothers keep emberrasing and loving Lagos more than other Nigerians.
I was in Lagos, once on transit, and I don't see anything special with that city, that my people are staking their necks for. Honestly, dash me free house, and job in Lagos, I'll not go for it, because I have phobia for noise and chaos. Wetin them use Lagos do my people?
The whole thing dey make me sick, walahi. sad

Lolz. You probably don't know Yorubas; we like fighting more psychological warfare than physical. You can trace that to our history of Kingdom-building and high politics. I'm sure no Yoruba man will attack any Igbo man (at least they won't start the violence). But, note it that with the unraveling of the typical Igbo-mind by Kanu and the succor he got on various media by many Igbos, the opinion has been formed. In the next 20-30yrs, the Igbos stance in Lagos will be so whittle down to that of any other ethnic group in Nigeria. With a governor like Obiano making such foolish claims as 'Igbos' building Lagos, the line was marked.

Given the leadership of Lagos (like any other smart Yoruba men), I'll increasingly pursue development of Lagos and self-preservation. I'll ensure I create policies that'll continually make Yorubas the major stakeholders and controller of the polity. I'll pursue self-preservation more than the way Swiss government and Japanese government does. And many of my types are going to do that in Lagos!

Yoruba ethnic group just shot themselves point blank with the law..

Don't understand why the complaint.. this a welcome development.

In the rush to grab Lagos in other to extend the development and open up other Southwest states..

The fired the first formal shot on tribalism, and other negative vices that will come to hunt them forever... Politically and otherwise.

Dicision hastily taken in other to spite igbo's.. just like the did to Jonathan.

But will enforcement of all this rules make Lagos Yoruba town? No.

Money create cities states and development not language or tribe ..

If it does .. Hitler's would have been alive and old.

The red Indies for be the only presidents in USA.

The great to Oyo empire for still the rock Africa by now..

Time has a funny way it position things...

So for those masturbating on Lagos law...

It gurrantee nothing..
When the time comes ... It matters less..

We investors care less ... But care much about our investment.
Money change government..not language

When I am privy to an already hatched plot and then come to Nairaland and make threats based on my pre-knowledge of certain information, people will begin to hail me as being omniscient or very proactive and determined.

That's wht I see here. Akinphysicist did nothing, he was only opportuned to know about the plot already in motion and then came out to vent and rant about it.

About 2 or so years ago, Nairalander's most prominent Pan-Yorubanist and overall wicked man, Akinphysicist made a bet with me that within 2 - 5 years credit in Yoruba language will be required to attend Lagos state-owned tertiary institutions. Unfortunately, the mods closed that thread because, as with any thread Akinphysicist ventures into, it was filled with so many controversial backs and forth. When I read this thread today about Ambode signing that bill https://www.nairaland.com/4343341/yoruba-mandatory-admission-lagos-tertiary it confirmed what I have always suspected:

which is that there are certain Yorubas on this forum who are very strategic and are just no here to blow hot smoke. Because of their education and money they are actually able to move lawmakers to change laws. I lament this because I wish my fellow Igbo forumites would also be this strategic. Instead, we spend most of our ranting without making any concrete moves. If one Yoruba guy based in the US, however wicked he might be, can predict what Lagos lawmakers will do 2 solid years in advance, why are we Igbos not making similar moves? The Yorubas are strategic and we are not. It is very sad!
lmao
this thread is a joke cuz
1.if u are igbo u must have heard of the term efulefu now lemme break it down
efulefus tend to be more yoruba or hausas than the originals ie dm carry am for head meaning a simple yoruba lang test will be like asking them to brush their teeth
2.due to the state of origin bull in naija most i repeat MOST students tend to skul in their regions rather than skul in the west or north
so there u have it
that they made language compulsory is a fat joke and im still lmao

Fact of the matter is exclusion based on tribe and creed will backfire.

It could mean excluding certain qualities from their school and missing out altogether on the benefits such will provide. Ivy League universities extend invitation/scholarship to some of the brightest and brilliant young mind for strategic reasons. But these clowns are crawling back into their caves and patting themselves at the back while at it.

Pathetic!

A thread for yorubas to talk rubbish and chest-beat...

.Fulani herdsmen are causing havoc already in the Sw while some ninnies are beating dry chests over language..by the time the fulanis are done with Lagos you all will know how far.....

.Akin and all shoukd also work towards the disintegration of these country so they can enact as many oduduwa laws as tickles their fancy....That will make more sense..,not clutching to 'one Nigeria' while writting to rep members to change market locations and language in Lagos. undecided
