Omosikiru1992:Bros I can't believe you want to waste 9000euro when about 97% of schools are tuition free. Not even your money, this is like taking Student Loan only that u may not pay interest. Read this thread well and get a better school without paying a dine, and save yourself and your family this financial stress. All you need is information, and to get informed you need to do your research. A word is enough for the wise! 3 Likes |

Litolysis: I will advice you fund your block account from your own dorm account for future purposes. Walk into any of the banks preferably Zenith Bank and open an euro dorm account, source for the euro either through the aboki or bank and pay into ur euro dorm account and do the transfer into ur blocked account in Germany. It's always easier and faster for d receiver of d funds to know, cos d sender is in your name and from ur dorm account. That was wat i did in my own case. 3 Likes |

Omosikiru1992: It all depends on your motives my brother, I suspect the school that gave you admission in berlin is probably a private institution. What you should understand is that there's a whole lot of difference between a German Public Schools and Private Schools. Although a private skool is more expensive, but in the long run the benefits you get from attending a private skool is far better than that of a public skool. In my own case I got admitted into a private skool here in Berlin for a masters degree, and the skool fee for the 3 semester programme cost approx 18,000 euros. I also have a blocked account here in Germany. My course is a very unique one and not all public universities in Germany offer it and if they do, it can't be compared to that of a private university. A better scenario is like comparing Uni Ibadan and Atiku Abubarka University (ABTI). 1 Like |

SenR: Why do you think that the benefits of studying in a private university is better? I'm just curious. |
Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by SenR(m): 4:23pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
Jigba: Yes it is, it's incomparable. I certainly can't drop d merits and demerits of attending a private and public skools here so it doesn't discourage most people on the platform. But you can as well make your own research. |
Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by Nobody: 4:32pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
SenR: I would like you to name those benefits, since you are in a private university Actually most people on this platform want to study in Germany cause it's tution free. It doesn't discourage anyone. But if you don't want to name it, fine 2 Likes |

What makes you think that private universities are better than public universities in Germany? Germany is not Nigeria. I spent two years studying at one of the most prestigious public universities in Germany which is highly rated and more recognised than the best private university in the entire Europe. How many German/Europeans are attending private universities in Germany? Most people who attend private university here are people who came out with low grade that find it difficult to secure admission in public universities. SenR: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Can i study masters in nursing at any german university |
Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by Nobody: 4:45pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
victz: That last sentence though, I agree. At least I've heard of it as the reason why most people attend private universities. Another reason is that, it's not crowded like public university. Also, it's hard to fail in a private university. But I think there are advantages/benefits like he stated which I would like him to share with us. |
Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by SenR(m): 4:57pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
Jigba: Am glad you already know one of the benefits @jigba I graduated from a tough university here in Nigeria with a fantastic grade, so please do not keep the impression that most people who attend private skool is because of a low grade @victz I am only saying from my own little research and findings that private skools have more benefits to a public skool. Please I stand been corrected as no man is a body of knowledge, but only with facts and proofs if possible. |

Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by victz: 5:36pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
Well, public universities in Germany are not crowded. We are less than 20 students in our MSc class. Most times you'll find a lot of empty sits laying fallow with no one siting on them Even when we are having combine courses with other departments you will still get a space to sit down. Most courses here have limited number of participant meaning that you have to register in time if not you may not be able to get a space. I believe the reason why they adapted the measure of course registration with a certain number of participants/students is for crowd control. I remember back then in Nigeria the university i attended was always crowded that most times they use public address systems. Some students don't even see the board when lecturers are teaching courses that involved calculations/mathematics. It is not like that in Deutschland. Germany is well advance/organised. SenR:As far as I know, the motive for any private school is to make money. The motive for public schools is the passion for excellence in the various fields of human endeavor, hence public schools are the best in R & D. Mechanical engineering is Mechanical engineering, irrespective of whether you spend 1million dollars to attain it or not. Same with other courses. Nobody gives a fucking damn in the job market whether you finished from a private school or not,it is the stuff and experience you have that speaks volume. Spending thousands of euro to attain a masters degree in Germany while there are free tuition in same course in public schools is a colossal waste of resources that anybody who has worked hard to earn money will have value for and will want to conserve. But if you are from a rich home where there is abundant resources, why not! 8 Likes |

BabaEuro: Well Said! To me, Germany is not Nigeria where public/government schools or institutions are messed up. When you talk of quality education in advanced and developed countries, public schools are well equipped because the government is so reliable and dependable to the extent that they invest so much to equip their public universities and make sure its of world standard. Also, from the free tuition fees and oda benefits like duscounted meals at canteens, free transportation around d city, etc, its so clear and obvious dat d only priority of these public schools is not money making but to render good, quality and best of education. Moreova, I believe in advanced countries like Germany, public/government institutions get some global/national license dat most private school cannot have (e.g internship with some international organizations, collaboration with international communities/organizations). So Germany is not Nigeria where d government and d system is so corrupt, to the extent that facilities/equipments meant for the public (public institutions inclusive) are siphoned and diverted to their personal businesses/institutions, which consequently and continuously is leading to the production of poor graduates and rich thieves (in d name of politicians). For example, my university, (a state owned university/public university), is making life more meaningful and less stressful for her students, which will directly and indirectly make studies much more interesting. Outside oda benefits like our semester tickets covering transportation within the entire state and few parts of 2 neighboring states, I also discovered recently that they offer free German classes (A1) to their willing students. Just my point of view about my comparison between public and private institutions in advanced society like Germany, as against our usual view when comparing public and private institutions in a dead, currupt and glorified-village like Nigeria. 2 Likes |

Omosikiru1992: How I wish some of you will drop this 'hustle' mentality. I understand the need to live in a country like Germany cause of the benefits (which I've experienced) and quality of education. But the thing with this hustle is that, you might just come here and forget your education which I think is the key. Your goal or any other person's goal who wants to study in Germany shouldn't be 'hustle'. It should be to study a good course and have a good paying job afterwards. Do you know what you will earn with this hustle jobs? You might actually be disappointed if you get here to see that it's not all that hype. I don't see anyone mentioning that there's hardly any time to hustle while studying. I'm currently in Studienkolleg and I barely have time for myself, I'm just imagining how it is for those in University. And I don't see anyone talking about the typical 'hustle' jobs. Someone should help me mention those jobs . Trust me it's not easy. Your cgpa seems low but nothing is impossible. That's not a reason to spend so much money in a private university. Have you ever considered starting afresh? Like going to Studienkolleg and study afterwards? I think you could also apply for another Bsc with your first year transcript. 1 Like |
